  1. Put in a $10 smallmouth tag and you'll have the money you need to boost that fishery.
  2. Spent a few hours in intermittent rain and low temps with Livie. Fished a local creek targeting redbreast sunfish or perch. Saw no fish and had no bites. Moved to a pond that we will catch crappie, bluegill, and likely golden shiners later in the year. Only a few "nibbles" without and hooked fish😒. Did see a lot of fresh beaver sign.

    What's Cooking?

Do this every year. Braised pork with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Rub was Asian 5 spice, garlic powder, smoke paprika, and brown sugar. Browned the rubbed pork and then white wine, chicken stock, whole garlic cloves and chucked yellow onion for braise. Added sauerkraut and caraway seeds after 2 hrs at 350. Cooked another 35 mins.

    What's Cooking?

We did a variant with lobster tails, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and venison loin steaks for NYE. Side bernaise sauce and brown butter.. Also I made carrots with a maple ginger glaze. Livie made a trifle with chocolate and vanilla pudding with whipped cream separated into layers by ice ream sandwich wafers.
  5. BowFUN! Chasing those swamp muskies!
  6. Thankfully I didn't just take a drink of water when I opened this! That's hilarious!
  7. Livie has been reading through them now. So funny. I had heard rumor that he was thinking about restarting the Far side, but I have not seen it happen.
  8. Love the Far Side. Picked up three of the older compilation books right before Christmas. I thought I had them all but several have gone missing. Working now to replace those books.
  9. That's why I focus on micros. After them any 6 inch fish is a trophy .
  10. @LittleRedFisherman good to see the positives in 2020. Some great fish and great memories. Your son is getting great exposure to the outdoors. Keep it up buddy! Like @BilletHead mentioned we were getting some updates on your successes throughout the day. I also noticed a couple of non-walleye in your keepers. A couple of nice saugers look like they came across the rail.
  11. I don't know if other guys had seen this story. This kid is racking up the bucket list fish for sure! We were just talking about catching lake trout. 11-year-old closes in on record lake trout with second huge catch Tyler Grimshaw, an 11-year-old who lives for fishing, was testing out his new winter fishing bibs that he received for Christmas and very nearly nabbed himself a state record while fishing Flaming Gorge in Utah on Sunday. Tyler broke his personal best and came within less than six pounds of setting a Utah record for lake trout, catching a 48.16-pounder while jigging at the famous fishery. In June, it was reported he had caught a 41-pounder all by himself. Both were weighed in the net and released. It took Tyler “a solid 20 minutes” to reel in the latest trophy trout, his mother Vanessa Grimshaw told USA Today/For The Win Outdoors. “An adult probably could have done it quicker, but because he is so little, it took a bit longer.” The Utah record for lake trout is 53 pounds, 15 ounces caught by Chance Scott earlier in the year. The record before that was a 51.5-pounder in 1988 and then prior to that was a 41-pounder, according to Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. It gives you an idea of how close Tyler is coming to a record. All were caught at Flaming Gorge. Also saw this photo of Tyler with another bucket list fish.

    What's Cooking?

What to do with leftover turkey... make a spaghetti casserole. Onion, garlic, broccoli, chicken stock, al dented pasta, sharp cheddar, parmesan, a little milk and spices. Oh and leftover turkey.
  13. Congrats on a definitely picture worthy smallie!
  14. Looks like a Great Lakes trout.
  15. If you blow up the photo, you can see that the first number is an 8 and not a 4.
  16. Sounds like a good day to me Jeff! Much better than working and a couple of nice ones on the deck.
  17. That's a pig buddy. Nice!
  18. Stinkin trout 🤣🤣!!

    What's Cooking?

Great point @rps! I always try to mix a blend of burger and sausage when I make my meat sauce.
  20. Mine too!
  21. Hey I stuck it out and completed school. 8th grade was the toughest three years of my life 🤣🤣
  22. Actually got a couple ! That's why I could show you Livie's first chain pickerel !
  23. If you look in the background of this photo my daughter is fighting her first ever carp and it was at least 1.5 to 2x the size of mine. Well I lost that fish while netting it ! She gave me grief for a long time about wasting time on getting a photo of my fish or being a terrible net man….. She has caught a couple since that one and has since forgiven me. So @laker67 there is hope to be forgiven, maybe after you net her 12 lb trout !
  24. Looks like a pretty decent day Dave. When I cleaned some of those urban trout, I would find a lot of weed and debris, like they were rooting through the weeds to find some aquatic insects. That is when they were not filled with corn or dough bait .
  25. You and me both Pete! There are so few spring fed creeks/rivers and I haven't found a tailwater here in MD that compares to those that you mentioned. I hope that COVID gets to a point that I won't be quarantined after a quick trip to MO/AR for a trout fix . Though I did catch a few sunfish today. Felt good to release a fish.
