    Looks freaking delicious!

    What's Cooking?

Sounds delicious to me. I will have to try that one.
  3. To me not much different than growing the next world record deer being raised on a small high fence hunting operation. Not a fan! Any record under those conditions seem like an asterisk is needed.
  4. Agree not a competition, but is a self driven goal. So that as you know is a big part of the grind and frustration. Weather has stymied all of us this year. You know the fish are there waiting but the conditions prevent you from catching them sucks a lot. Locations with high numbers of the target species help a lot. So not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole situation. Research only goes so far until you have boots on the ground or boat in those locations on our ability to catch those fish. If they aren't there or in low numbers or just the effort to figure them out leads to that frustration as well. Fortunately there is still half a year ahead of us and remembering that this is a marathon goal and not a sprint helps my mind set.
  5. Looking forward to that my friend๐Ÿ˜…. I hope that you do. Now if you did that when the weather and high water was keeping me from catching fish like earlier this year, I was in a very different place then.
  6. I have a spot located out here in MD about 90 mins from the house with a feral goldfish population. Decided to go to VA last weekend instead. Will get out to that spot sometime soon.
  7. Hopefully this isn't an implication that the grind is any easier. You just need a trip with lots of targets. We'll get you a bunch in Sept with weather and wife permitting.
  8. I do and only have caught five different species. Still need a nice male steelcolor and blacktail. After Livie's catch I now need a male spotfin ๐Ÿ™„. Even with the tail bite, this one is still a favorite (yes rubbing it in a little maybe). I have only caught one, but he was a good looking fish.
  9. Congrats Dave! I know where you caught those guys. Seems like the goldfish are biting better or have you found a pattern that will get them less tightlipped?
  10. Even better if there is a fish cleaning station that they can live under, aka Frank๐Ÿ˜
  11. No doubt. You and your wife are accomplished big fish slayers (ok catch and releasers๐Ÿ˜…) for sure. Again I have no issues with any folks doing what they can by catching fish. I will admit that I scoffed at the guys touting their trout catching abilities as they were plying through stocked fish at the parks for years. At that time I was a brown trout fisherman going for the big ones in the Current River. I would routinely catch 10 to 12 browns a trip with some over 20 inches. I started fishing the trout parks when my kids became old enought to trout fish, but I didn't feel comfortable taking them to the high flow spots that I would catch those brown trout. The first four or five trips to the parks I really struggled. Then I found the pattern with the microjigs I now use and my rod setups, and haven't looked back. I will also admit that since I dove head first into the multispecies and lifelisting deal I now have live bait in my fridge nearly all the time.
  12. Agreed. Browns do that all the time on the White and in Taneycomo. Remember that DJ's giant had a rainbow already in it's gut. I'm sure that any 20+ inch brown trout is looking for stockers when there is such a high rate of stocking like in the White and Taney.
  13. I will admit that I have never caught or tried for a trout at the outlets. My first Taney trout were mostly caught at or below the boat ramp. 30 plus trout on tungsten bead midges. Was the best trout fishing at Taney still to date. I just didn't fish Taney very often. If I fished it more probably would have fly fished the outlets. Why not. I love catching fish period. It would be even better drifting a gob of worms down through there๐Ÿคฃ!
  14. At Little Dixie lake near Columbia we would get a hatch. Not as heavy as those described here. Heavy enough to get the fish active. Was a great time to catch evening crappie on a fly or small floating rapala.
  15. I've said the same thing Pete on several forums. They can sample the fish easy enough to confirm. If I remember correctly the rainbow world record is a triploid.
  16. Must have been just floating on the lake or cruising.. if you were fishing there would have been some photos ๐Ÿคฃ

    What's Cooking?

Happy 4th of July! Just the wife and I tonight. Fish tacos.
  19. Wondered if you drove through the closed road signs and then had a beer with Rusty๐Ÿ˜…
  20. Sounds like a great time @Ryan Miloshewski! Never worried about having my wife beat me if she still enjoys fishing with me.. Gives me more opportunity to fish ๐Ÿ˜‰. @Mitch f girls look like they were having a great time. Too bad missing that brown, would have made a great photo op!
  21. Sounds like a great trip so far @ness. Can't wait to hear more!
  22. Livie #77 Northern Rock Bass
  23. Livie #76 (Lifer) Spotfin Shiner, Cyprinella siloptera Another male in breeding attire. Only one caught during this trip. Was hoping for one myself. Pretty cool looking fish.
  24. JF #92 Northern Rock Bass, Amploplites rubestris not to be confused with Goggle-eye ๐Ÿ˜… Still need to catch one in Maryland. These fish were caught in Virginia.
  25. Livie #75 (Lifer) Male Bluehead chub with tubercles! Nicest one on this trip. should have fished here back in May๐Ÿ™„ Again the tubercles do not extend below the nostrils or on the sides of the face.
