  1. Fished 4-6 pm at the dam. A lot of guys up there trying from the bank probably 10-12 boats. I never saw a fish caught. Then tried some crappie after dark around sons creek area water temp 47 we caught 2 small crappie off the water by 8:30.
  2. Hey Dan, Let us know how you do. CoolHandFluke and I are going to Stockton we'll post a report. Are you going after walleye?
  3. Hey Vic, I have a motor guide on my pontoon with a plate it snaps into, so it can be removed when not fishing. It seems to work well. I gate won't quite fit over the motor with it in the stow position. I wish it did it get heavy moving around. He mounted the bracket through the flooring. Hope that helps.
  4. Sorry for the delay in responding.  99% of my fishing is in the old river channel where it transitions to shallower water.  Sometimes you can find structure there in the form of rock faces, brush, or trees.  I rarely fish coves.  For these crappie I was in 8-12fow right alongside a drop off to 15'.  They did not come quickly.  Probably 1.5 to 3 hours.

Oh no problem. By the old river channel do you mean on the James or White river? Sorry I new to the lake and would really like to learn how to catch some fish. At Stockton, we fish brush piles. Are you spider rigging and just following the river channel until you hit some then? Minnows or jigs? Thanks for the help and sorry for all the questions. We have a place around Joe Bald area, so were right where they both come in.

  5. Nice fish!! Are you catching them in docks or brush? Which part of the Lake or in the creeks? Thanks for the post. Don’t see many crappie posts.
  6. That's what stuck out to me also... I wish they found more crappie then they did.
  7. Caught a few fishing yesterday with my buddy Coolhandfluke and our kids. We took a movie, sleeping bags, and snacks. The kids thought it was fun movie night on the boat. It was steady, but not on fire we fished for 3 hours. We ended up catching around 30 with 16 keepers most 11-12 inch were the keepers on minnows. Fish seemed to be suspended higher on the brush piles in 14 feet, but did catch some deeper. It was a good time and great weather for December. A lot warmer than tonight. We had a great time. Tight lines....
  8. 9. Yes sir. Not as quiet as some crappie trips, but some good memories. Who knows how many we could have caught had it actually been quiet.

  11. Yes Dan that's the place. They have your favorite spoons and stuff people actually catch fish with in that place. They are always really helpful in what people are catching fish on. They mentioned that the shad hatch this year was really good on Stockton.
  12. I didn't get a chance to go this weekend, but I was in Bud's bait shop yesterday and they said guy came in yesterday with a report he caught a limit every morning before noon. 3 straight days. They said they were catching them between 6-20 feet.
  13. I'm thinking about heading out tonight or maybe morning. Just wondering what the reports are depth or any help would be appreciated. I'll report back. THANKS
  14. Yeah Dan you may be right about colder weather crappie. We were at Stockton last year about a week before Christmas and caught two limits a couple times. The air temp was around freezing though. Maybe better fishing is on the horizon.
  15. Gotcha. Thanks for the advice. I think this has been a good feed for everyone to learn a little bit about them.
