  1. So did you ever get to look through those Vortex?
  2. Agree wrench. Most, if not all are nitrogen and sealed nowadays i believe. The days of cheap “under $200” optics is pretty rare given the technology advances that most companies employee these days. Even the lesser known brands, that copy off the others have products that would would work. The warranty is part of paying the higher prices.
  3. I agree Mike. Leupold Alpine are in my price range, and are a proven set that is one to consider as well. In todays modern technology, it’s hard to not pick up a usable pair for anything over that $150 range.
  4. I have had these Bushnell binos for years. They have traveled many states hunting and fishing. They have been the reason behind several of my wildlife harvests, as without them I wouldn’t have seen that turkey coming in, deer sneaking through the timber, or spotted bald eagles perched in a tree. Recently while getting hunting gear out for the season, i placed them on the flatbed of my truck. Went and did chores, then headed off to town. About 10 miles down the road I remembered what i had done, but they were gone. As i sit here scanning online for a new pair, i feel like i have lost my best rod in 100’ of water. Looking for something in that $300 range. Any input? As of now the Vortex Diamondback HD 12-50 have caught my eye. At $279.00 they seem pretty legit.
  5. No need for those here. We read you just fine.
  6. No refund?
  7. Had the virus 3 times myself. All 3 times were totally different. 1st time layed me up for 6 days. Couldn’t function at all. 2nd time didn’t even know i had it. Better 1/2 is a nurse and tested positive and made me take a test. 3rd time felt achy and sore throat 2 days. A buddy called me an hour ago and said he has it for the first time. Said he has a slight fever and sore throat. Hope ya get to feeling better.
  8. That some straight up Phil Robertson looking stuff right there.

Congrats to the young man. Good one just before bullet flying season starts.
  10. Your dog a BLM war veteran?
  11. There is. The wheat is whats really starting to show. Hoping the winter rapeseed and winter peas get up before winter. Did throw out some turnips, oats, and clover but to late for those to shine I’m sure.
  12. Boy did i plant at the wrong time!!! The lack of rain that we sometimes hope for in the spring, would have really been a blessing this fall. Add to the dryness the 14 deer at a time we have seen on the plot, and that poor thing never stood a chance to grow. These are pictures from today. The rain last week really helped, along with these warm temps to at least make it look green. It was almost down to the dirt. I did go ahead and broadcast more seed the day before the rain.
  13. We have had a very informative discussion on this over on the airgun thread. Lots of great info there. I just ordered my first PCP after having spring guns the past few years “in that thread”. I’m excited about this new endeavor. I bet that Gamo will shoot good enough to take my venison summer sausage with jalapeño, “my prize donation to our first “OA Airgunners Quest Shoot”
  14. I shot one that a buddy bought a few years ago. I had gotten to his farm 30 minutes after they did, so they had already shot it a few times. As soon as i exited my truck, Dan handed me that beast. He said “here’s you a gun to try. Shoot it at those cinder blocks over by the fence”. I steady’d up, squeezed the trigger, as that block from 20’ exploded into pieces. I have shot lots of caliber handguns, but that one shot was all i needed that day out of that gun. I asked how hot that ammo was, and they just grinned.
  15. I’m all in. I’ve tried to get the air gun guys on here together, but they shy away when wrench posts his targets after shooting.

I’ve got a few of those, but haven’t used them since the Chappo came out. Might just do that Thursday.
  17. We’ve all read here already. It’s a book on asian ladies, goats, his wife, and the fact that he is aging. Oh yeah, and he can’t shoot as good with one arm as he used to. 😁
  18. Oneshot, you need a pet snake more than you need a dog. Just think about it. The dog is like a kid. Craps all over, eats to much, doesnt pick up after itself, and costs to much money. Now that pet snake eats very little, is 100% quiet, doesn’t need attention, and just wants to be left alone. yep, you need a snake.

Fished our club tournament out of Masters. Beautiful day to be on the water. Water temps in mid 60’s and 2’ or so visibility. I kept one bait in my hand 99% of the day, the Berkley Chappo. We had 4 keepers within the first 3 hours, and between several missed blowups where they would knock it completely out of the water, to losing fish on the way to the boat, we just couldn’t get that 5th keeper. Lots of 14 3/4 fish including a few smallies and a spot. I think the longest between bites was 30 minutes all day. Fun day to have a topwater tied on.
  20. True. A year or so ago with the 22 shells. Guys would find out when Walmarts delivery was and be there to buy what they could, just to resale within minutes for profit, leaving those that wanted them to teach youngins to shoot, or hunt with, to be shorthanded. Facebook was a killer in that market.
  21. It’s only as stable as the market will allow. Ammo, real estate, and for the past 2 years, vehicles have all been one of the commodities that if you snooze you loose type of things. Tho i have ammo, i am in no way a hoarder, tho i should be for those family gatherings where we might fire 2000 rounds that day.
  22. That was the thought Mike, as i really only need 3 sets. Couple of decent sets in the pile. It will probably end up like a lot of times. I mention it to my brother, and the next time i go to find them they are gone.
  23. No kidding guys. Most of the ammo i have, I’ve had for several years buying up the stuff that friends didn’t want. The thing that got me today was those new guns I purchased a month or so ago were not calibers that i had ammo for, so i ended up buying some 30-30 and 410. I bought a box of stuff that had 8 or 10 knives in it. Haven’t made it home yet to look at them closer, but a few look nice. Nothing a collector would want, but a hunter would. They had a Remington model 700 in 243 with a bull barrel and Vortex scope that is almost exactly like one i have. I thought if it was priced fair i would consider it, but it brought $1250. I did buy 8 sets of climbing sticks for stands for $25 a set.
  24. Went to an estate auction today. They had a few firearms and lots of ammo. I was interested in some 30-30 and 410. 30-30 was $45 box, 170 grain. and $36 box 410 was $37.50 box. Crazy high to me, but maybe I’m out of touch due to having a safe full.
