    Boo!

    Party pooper
  2. Or clean toilets.
  3. No bueno.
  4. That’s a good one there. Congrats. I almost skipped work to go out this beautiful morning, but work was priority. Bass tournament tomorrow, and maybe hunt sunday. Nice job BH.
  5. Fixed it fer ya oneshot.
  6. Not all. I believe only 1 of the 3 or 4 tours switched. .
  7. I’m another that heights don’t bother me. I have hunted 30’ up when trees are bare to see over ridges, and down as far as 10’ up, tho i try to get right at 20’ if possible. At that height my scent if elevated enough that it blows over animals, but not to high up to have to shoot straight down. Seen a video the other day where a guy shot a buck. He was on a power line right-of-way and appeared to be above the wires. Looked like he shot between wires, or inches under. Made a good shot tho. I do set up my pop up for bad days behind the house. Last year was the first year ever that I didn’t hunt out of a tree. But with that said, this is the first time, at this stage of season, that I haven’t been out yet.
  8. Easy money right there. I mean i drop mine off at the processor because doing it myself, I’m lucky if i come away with 30% of 100% of what the processor gets. I just flat out stink at cutting one up.

    Breakfast

Good looking stuff right there. After buying the current house, i went from all electric to propane stove. Growing up “mexican mom” she always heated up our tortillas on the burner, leaving those tasty marks. With the fire stove, i do mine the same. One of my quick eats is to heat one up on the burner and grab a stick of butter from the fridge and rub it good, then roll up and eat.
  10. Looking back over the past 30+ years of deer hunting it has been pretty even as far as the amount of time spent in a tree, versus a ground blind or next to a tree. I feel better 20’ up, but at times that is not much of an option. Do you hunt more on the ground than in the air? Pop-up blind or next to a tree? I used to carry a 48” x 8’ long camo burlap rolled up in my backpack on public ground. I would attach it between 2 trees, set up my folding chair and fall asleep, i mean hunt. Lots of animals within 30 yards behind that setup.

    Breakfast

The more i read of your foods, the better i like you guys. Lots of dinner ideas here, but not much for breakfast. Any cold weather, winter time favorites?
  12. I’m thinking it’s to late even if we did get rain. Just to close to the ground temps getting colder to do much. This was a bad year.
  13. Are you in the Springfield area?
  14. Is that all mixed together in a tortilla? One of these days before we get to old, we should do an overnight float with airguns in tow. Maybe BH could join in. Just something about a river/creek, cool weather, a canoe, gun, and no set plan that tickles the fancy.
  15. Years ago i lived near the Pomme river and would pack the canoe and make an overnight trip of it for deer. A buddy and i spent many days floating that river shooting squirrels. That was some of the most enjoyable hunting i have ever done. Anyone else hunt/float?
  16. Tonight/tomorrow will be perfect for hanging. Gonna warm back up tho.
  17. Waiting for you to come climb a tree with me. We can talk ladies, goats, moonshine, or wrench. It dont matter to me.
  18. Kinda cool they have semi auto air guns out there. The Benjamin Sheridan is a looker, but at $800 i will have to go back to holding a sign at the off ramp.
  19. Come on wrench, this thing looks better than butter on toast.
  20. I have noticed that the plastic guns weigh a pound or more less than wood. I still have have a few plastic springers. Tho the wood weighs more, it won’t be carried for hours on end I don’t believe. If so it would be no heavier than my 22’s or over-under’s. I usually walk into the timber and find a comfy seat at the base of a tree and try to not fall asleep. Just something about wood for me.
  21. So comparing the 2 that you guys mentioned, and put those against the Marauder, makes it tough. I do like the looks/reviews of that Avenger a lot. There are so many great guns out there to choose from. At this point it boils down to looks i think
  22. Ok fellers’ So the better half is one of those that has her Christmas shopping done by the end of October. Yesterday she asked me twice to let her know my wants, so here i am. Our usual budget for each other is $500 range. Going to post the 3 pcp I’m looking at so far. Let me know if you know of a better option. Because i have the Hatsan in 25cal, I’m leaning towards a 22cal. It’s main purpose will be squirrels and rabbits, as i use the 25 for the yard pests. Until i find a tank, a hand pump it will be. Im still in pretty good shape so temporarily shouldn’t be an issue. Basically looking for the best bang for the buck kinda thing. Not set on any brand. My only MUST is wood stock. Benjamin Marauder JTS Airacuda Hatsan Hydra “this one can shoot .177, .22, and .25 out of the same gun. $469 on sale for $299” I’m going to throw the Hatsan AT44-10 QE in the mix, tho is is synthetic Any thoughts/needs?
  23. Ha. It definitely gets it share of other pulling duties as well. It’s usually hooked to a trailer of some type 5 days a week. Luckily pulling the cab is an almost past requirement nowadays. Some still do it to give more room. Truck has 139,000 miles now and tho it’s no guarantee when a turbo will go, i know a few buddies “2 dodge and a Ford” that have replaced them under 100,000 miles. And the cp4 is another dog entirely. I may go with the larger 17+ turbo this round. On a side note, i used my F250 gasser yesterday to pull the boat to Stockton and noticed a weird noise/vibration. After getting home i noticed the lug nut cap was almost off. I popped it off to see this.
  24. That’s the plan Monday morning. Ford estimate without looking at it was $3200 for upgraded turbo out the door. We shall see. Pulled the boat to Stockton today with my F250 V10. Boy do i miss that diesel.
  25. Doug, i heard thru the grapevine that he was an aspiring closet vehicle mechanic who wanted to get rich working on diesels. I’m sure he will respond when his back isn’t hurting.
