Thats just my way to have wrench show me his secret spots, and to get to fish LOZ as i cant seem to make the drive any other way with TR, Stockton and Pomme being so close. Ive owned boats over 1/2 of my life and have never changed one myself. But, i dont process my own deer either.
Whenever I get that invite to come fish, I may leave my boat with ya. Need impeller installed and lower unit serviced. I've got the impeller kit. Yamaha Vmax 150 carb'd
Used it on Pomme Saturday. Caught some good sized whites on it. That thing wears me out after an hour. Then I have to spend the next 2 hours finesse fishing to get over the back ache.
Just 33 in 10 years. And when we had our tourney 2 weeks ago with constant lightning all around us, with us Fishing in our aluminum cans, I was for sure we were "toast" but according to that number, there's no reason to panic and hide under a covered slip. Not that I did that.
Vibration coming from the trailer im assuming? The U-Joints in the truck in good shape? The reason i ask is maybe with the added weight of the boat it is showing up? Bent wheel on trailer? Bad bearing on trailer? Bad tire on trailer "while replacing mine i noticed on the "inside" of the tire there was a bubble". The hitch heigth should be ok where its at. Im sure theres other things that could cause it also.
It was a fun day. Hands were chilling with that morning cloud cover and north wind. She sure look and felt larger than the 6.9 than the scale showed. Pomme is in good shape for some good fish to be caught. The next few weeks should be great.
Havent been to Pomme since October, so hooked the boat up at 6am and headed north. Put in at 7:30 at Bolivar Landing. Water temp 56 and stained. Decent wind blowing from the north. Started fishing the launch area with a WW. Hooked up within a few casts in inches of water with this Big Gal. Few pictures and back in she went. Within the next 5 minutes I picked up 3 more between 2 and 3 pounds. Chunked the Wart and watched as it sailed into the trees. I knew after that many fish that i should have retied. Picked up the A-Rig and caught a few whites pretty quick. Caught 10 or so on a shakey head tight to shore. Moved up lake a few miles pucking up a few more. It was good to be back on my comfort lake. Blessed to have boated a nice fish. Caught over 40 fish with most of them being over the 13" limit. I held the Ol' Bug Eyed Girl out as far as i could. She was thick and full.
Well sitting here debating on Aunts Creek, Taney, Pomme, or Stockton. Thinking I may head to my fav. Lake and fish Pomme for the day. Haven't been up there since Oct. which is a record for me. I usually fish it more than any other. TR is closer so I've been hanging out at Aunts.
I know i suck at catching bass, especially during a tourney. But it was tough for the other 16 or so guys also. I ran from Cape to Aunts as thats my comfort area and fished several pockets inbetween with everything in the boat and 2 shorts in 8 hours. Just shy of 6 pounds to win it so i will say it was tough for those in an aluminum boat last Saturday.
It wasn't on fire Saturday. We had VERY tough conditions for our tourney. Maybe this weekend with all of the floaters in the lake, the fish will follow the logs around and then I can just chase logs pitching to them.
^^^^ wrench if you've got a speed boat and into making rum or moonshine, with a name like that above, he may just be your guy. Cant have much drama in his life if he likes to run rum. Rum delivery on LOZ. hmmmm
Being a shallow water guy, I rarely, if ever throw heavier than a 1/2 ounce. I did use a 3/4 last spring to entice some pre-spawn pigs but didn't connect. Sounds like they shipped out a load of 2nds on those hooks.
