  1. J-Doc, before moving here from Ohio 15 years ago, I along with 2 buddies started a similiar club. We had 7 members at the start, and after the first year, it was over 20 that fished every tourney. Still talk to a few of those guys. I have had a few email today, and several suggestions and ideas. This will be a pretty simple club. No club fees, small tourney entry fees, burgers cooked at each weigh-in, and lots of people to meet to call friends. I will have all of the information next week, and emailed out to those interested. We will have a final tourney at the end that we will have give away goodies for, and a trophy. Guess if i end up being the only member, i can cook my burger the way i want.
  2. sad, wasnt it cart7? not worth being laughed at by your buds for that weight.
  3. The dam area would be my guess also. As far as following the pros, i would stay way out of casting distance, and out of the trolling lane. Theres a good population of eyes in Stockton, we usually catch a few while bass fishing near the dam in the cove on the west side.
  4. Thanks guys, After talking to a couple of buddies this morning, this looks like a good thing. Format will be the same as any tournament, with the difference being aluminum boats only. We will fish 3 lakes, Table Rock, Pomme, and Stockton, all being fished twice on a rotation. Ive got a few things to kick around, and will post a sketch next week.
  5. Anyone know of any tin only bass clubs around? With as many fisherman we have in non glass boats, one would think there would be. If not, I may put out a feeler to see if i get enough interest. Myself: I was raised on a farm, been fishing most of my 44 years. I did the glass, tourney thing for a few years, and with family, work, life, ive slowed down to the past 4 boats have been tin boats. Something about the lower cost of the boating experience leaves a bigger smile on my face. Im knowledgeable about the club, tourney, rule format, and dont see why a tin only club, with as many boat companies and fisherman we have in this part of the state, wouldnt do well. Ive done a little research, have a soft copy of rules, lakes, etc. and will see what the interest is. I will be posting a feeler on other sites to test the waters, per se. If you own a tin boat, would be interested in getting away from those in the glass world " nothing against them, as i was one for many years" then leave your thoughts.
  6. been there before?
  7. Most line in todays world is comparable as far as comparing brand to brand, not line type to brand. I would spool it with 10LB Mono for an overall rod. If money isnt a factor, then your options are endless. If thats the case, get another combo, and rig it opposite of current one.
  8. Looks like the weather is looking up, thats if the weather guessers are guessing correctly. Im hopeful.
  9. Thanks for the report. Did ya go by Aldrich or HighPoint by chance?
  10. Looks like they wont be welcomed to fish in a tourney for awhile. Glad they got caught personally. http://wired2fish.scout.com/story/1520902-iowa-fishing-tournament-cheaters-charged?s=537
  11. good thing these motors are a grayish color. Duck tape should almost blend in. Dont think it will last 30 years stuck on there tho FW.
  12. Their saying tomorrow night.
  13. Well, it says you cant receive private messages. On to plan B "gotta think of one first".
  14. Thanks Quill, Gonna send ya a PM.
  15. I aquired a hole in my lower cowl on my Yamaha 50 and wondering if i need to seal the hole? I have looked online for the answer but nothing. Im usually pretty picky about maintenance and looks, but other than filling the hole with silicone, i have no clue. If its not going to hurt anything for water to get in there, then i may leave it. Thanks fellers
  16. If a forum newbie is invited, the Mrs. and I will make it. I fished TR once over 10 years ago, on the other end of the lake, and know nothing about Eagle Rock, other than what i just looked up.
  17. On a side note, another craw that has worked well for me over the past several years is the Gene Larew Salt Craw. the 5" Black Neon Chartreuse Biffle Craw is my go to nowadays. Bass Pro carries them.
  18. Ive used the Fork Secret and the Watermelon Xmas colors in a 4". I still have a few left over, but didnt know you couldnt get them. I have a few spots on Pomme that will get bit with these on most flips. How long has it been since production halted?
  19. Congrats. Thats one for the wall. "plaque that is".
  20. Nice redo. Lots of work into getting one to look usable again. I like the cleanliness of the garage, wish mine would stay that way.
  21. as of Friday they were froze over. Weather looks very cold for the next week minimum, other than a low 40's on Wed. which wont do much to help thaw.
  22. Thanks. For no more than we use it for, other than maybe a prop change, i will leave it and spend the money on electronic upgrades at some point this year.
  23. Dang Wrench, reading these old posts, i was hoping you would be the one to say "yep, change out needle valves, add some boysen reeds, up the octane to 100, and you'll run with the big boys". I watched a few vids on youtube of the removal of the resistor plate, and those that tried it said they gained a considerable gain on takeoff, but maybe 2 to 3 MPH on the top. My first thought when i read about the removal, was that will lean the engine out to much, and we all know what happens with a lean motor in the long haul. But they say these will remap themselves to allow for that. Thinking of changing prop, as its usually my better half and myself in the boat, and see if i can get a few more MPH. Ya know, the fish on the other end of the pond wont wait that extra 2 minutes with the current setup. Thanks for the reply.
  24. I know this is an old topic, but may help the next looker. Sunset And Flat Bridge, both just north and east of PH both have decent wade areas. These areas get busy during the hot summer months with swimmers, but spring and fall they are pretty dead.
  25. listening to the weather guessers for the week, doesnt look like its gonna warm up to allow for any open water by then.
