  1. One of those fish. Also caught a nice 25" walleye.
  2. Good info D. Remember that the females will use the same routes headed towards deep water after the spawn that they used headed to shallow water. Right now I would be looking for gravel with larger, basketball type rock mixed in and depending on the day "sun, clouds, wind, calm" I would start throwing into the shallows and bringing it back out to 12' of water. I was out yesterday from 3:30pm til dark and caught 7 keepers in the 18" range. Square bill KVD 1.5 did it yesterday. The day before it was all top water in the evening. Difference was wind yesterday and no wind the day before. This time of year, during the transition, I always start near the back of pockets, and work my way out until I find fish. It's a great tim to be on the water. The next few weeks the top water will be excellent.
  3. Especially if they have eggs as the one pictured.
  4. What he said. That boat won't take much to move it, but if you fish a lot of windy days, get the most you can.
  5. 1 word. Hearing aid
  6. Read that a yak tourney guy got busted. I would quit fishing if I had to cheat to be successful. Also read where an Elite guy failed a polygraph after a recent tourney. The B.A.S.S and others seem to be taking this cheating stuff serious. Just doesn't make sense to me to want to win so bad that you revert to cheat another out of his time, money, happiness.
  7. That's what my wife and the other guys said. I will keep a few when I know they want fish for dinner, but I'm not a big fan of fish "a red meat kinda guy" so we don't keep a lot of fish. Always fun to catch tho.
  8. Had our TinBoats BassClub tourney out of Bolivar Landing from 6:00 - 2:00. Weather was great. Started out at 62 degrees with a storm that had just passed thru. Cloudy with a very light breeze. Turkeys were hammering it just at takeoff. Started out catching a 22" walleye on the 2nd cast with a KVD 1.5 on a main point. Snap photo "yes during a tourney" and released, Caught a few short bass in same area, Switched locations and bait and landed a few 13 1//2" fish "keeper on Pomme" Around 9 moved areas again and switched to what worked last weekend, a tube bait. Pulled into a cove just inside the point with a good drop from shore to 7' of water and pitched my tube. Landed 15" keeper. Stuck him in the livewell. 2 more flips in the bushes and netted my best of the day, a 4 pounder. Limit at this time. Text my better half at 9:10 to let her know I had a limit "yes during a tourney, she likes to know how my day is going", With me not having to worry about just catching my limit, the stress was off. Went down that stretch catching over 15 bass with most being over the 13" minimum, but only 2 helping cull. Switched to other bank and first pitch in the bushes and off it went. That sucker must have took 3/4 spool of line before it snapped off. Musky was my guess as I never saw the fish. Few more fish down that bank. Switched to the Cooper Cove area and was able to cull a 14" fish. Caught a few fish in that area, but not much size. Broke off my last tube in the area on a fish I didn't see. By this time it was 1:40 and time to head in. Great day on the water. Ended up with over 60 fish, with over 40 of those being over the 13" size. It was an easy day as far as getting a limit, but really thought I would have caught a little better fish. The 4 pound fish had spawned out. Very healthy fishery with a lot of fish for the upcoming years. Few pictures of fish and my tube. Besides last weekend, this was the first time in years I have thrown a tube bait. That bait was by far outfishing everything else. Seen a lot and talked to several other tourney people and most didn't have a limit, or any size. From what I seen, most were throwing a spinner bait or some type of top water. The tube was the ticket the past 2 weeks. Also caught this catfish on a spinnerbait, and a 5 pound drum. Now looking forward to Stockton this month.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. Will check it out.
  10. We need some Florida strain up this way.
  11. Safe travels home Mac. Good to see ya again this year.
  12. South Dakota hog. I read that report today. Fish of a lifetime.
  13. Thanks wily, I haven't attempted that 100 fish day yet, but it's coming soon. Yes the grass on the lower from my trip last year was pretty thick in places. As the Jersey wearing pro's say, fish the grass and you will catch the bass. I will punch the grass some just to see how that pans out. Gotta kinda be careful with my info, as a few in our club are members here, so don't want to let them read my secrets. ?? i will post an update as soon as I make the trip.
  14. I pop in here every day D. Haven't fished Stockton all year, so haven't had much to talk about. We camped at Pomme last weekend and had one of my better days Fri. And Sat. For numbers and quality. Tourney there this Sat. so hope I can find them again.
  15. Obviously Ive been out of high school for many years D, but boy do I wish we had those opportunities when I was In school still. Between that and college fishing, it's better than it's ever been. Add in the Internet "didn't have that learning curve growing up either" and these youngsters have it made.
  16. Always good to hear locals getting involved. Thanks
  17. He's got 2 posts.
  18. Nice fish. They are plentiful in Stockton if you put the time in.
  19. Good luck Jol. I'm sure I will be down there one of those days. Have a tourney on a Pomme Sat. But will look for ya, to say thanks for the baits in person.
  20. Nice fish. I often hear of the quality of bass.
  21. How about that 19.2 bag by Skeet Reese? Pretty impressive in a 14 pound average tourney.
  22. Looks like Tharp is holding onto the lead and BB for now.
  23. Man, we ALL have those days. Your fishing experience doesn't seem to be the issue, as Stockton treated you very well. I have fished the Rock the past 2 years, well 2 1/2 years, and HATED the lake. I could catch fish from Ohio to Oklahoma, but would not catch the quality or quantity on TR that I would everywhere else. This past fall I caught numbers and good fish. Started fishing it more and have been doing pretty well....Well, except for tourney days. Camped at Pomme yesterday, just got back, and from 5pm to dark yesterday I caught over 40 fish, with all but 6 being a 13" keeper or better. Same deal this morning from 5:30 until breakfast over the fire at 8, just flat tore them up. You know how to fish. Stick with what ya know and it will happen.
  24. Holy cow, KVD in 101st place and Evers in 102nd? Must be tough out there.
  25. Well, I don't see a "period" at the end, so enjoy.
