Glad you at least caught something... I've had a guide trip like that before... Def frustrating with the money they usually costs.

15-pound brown caught and released this morning
JestersHK replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Beautiful tank right there. Nice job on the catch and release. Love seeing them swim away. Duane said it was a triploid too. Another nice one brought in by Mr. Doty! -
I def feel your pain buddy. Buff did a good job of keeping them off me minus the one that got the corner of my eye... Haha I'm try not to bring any. I had a white shirt on and it was almost black out there covered in them. They were all down inside my hood and on my back too. Nasty little buggers

I went out there other day all ready to hit the ponds... Had HUK hoodie, gloves, and a SA face buff. The sun was least of my concerns. I wasnt out 5min with my buff pulled down and got swarmed by the biting gnats... I mean my arms and neck and beard were covered with hundreds of them. I went back to the car and had about a dozen welts on my neck and in my beard... I did catch 3 fish on my first 3 casts so I pulled buff all the way up under my hat and headed back out. All was good, but they started getting under my glasses and one got trapped between my buff and the corner of my eye... I knew it tagged me pretty good but wasn't expecting my eye to be almost swelled shut the next morning. A full day of ice and ibuprofen, and now 4 days later it's about back to normal. I was covered in deet too, but the bugs are stupid bad already out by me. No sun burn though lol

Hopefully you can take advantage of it if you like to Wade fish. Been a while since we've been able to do that... Water is still off from what I can see online. Hopefully the rain is not as severe as what they are calling for.

Wife showed me one cast tonight and I had to do a double take. I figured they would maybe slow things down at 915 but hey I'll take it. Coming down Thursday night with the family. yesterday I wasn't planning on getting much fishing in due to flow, but looks like I'll be bringing all my junk with me now, and hopefully get some night time action in. Hope it can last through the weekend, but even if I can squeeze just Thursday night in I'll be happy. Really want to sling some jerks up by the cable and hopefully get into some Walters.

Travis, I'll be down Thursday night. We def need to try and sync up this time lol. Just saw Phil's one cast and finally they slowed the flow a bit!

Made it back home yesterday. Feels great to be back in the US. Didn't really have time to try and go north to fish... We ended up cramming more work into Friday and had to leave Saturday at 7 to make our flight home i will say the people were all super friendly. Cologne is a beautiful city. The food exceeded my expectations and I ended up with 10 different kolsch breweries! glad I'm home though... Got to get back into fishing gear now lol.

Haha, Although I'm not sure when I'll be back here for a while, the area is very nice and beautiful. If I ever do make it back to Europe I'd likely take the train here just for the beer There's a chocolate museum and the country's oldest mustard mill we are going to try and check out. Hope you can make it one day Ness.

Paffgen is my favorite so far. Best beer for me and best food so far a well. The Gilden was the nicest inside with a huge cellar dating back to the 1700's I think. Their Kolsch is ok, but it's sweeter than the others. Fruh was pretty good as well. For those not familiar there is basically like 50 or 60 different Kolsch breweries that all brew their beer just a little bit differently. There's like 15 breweries just in this one town square all next to each other so you basically hop from one to the next. Kolsch is right up my alley. Closest American beer I'd compare it to would be yuengling light.

Catch up on Maryland Catching
JestersHK replied to Johnsfolly's topic in U.S.A. - North & East Regions
Looking good you two! Tons of variety there. I love it! -
I made it over this morning after a bumpy flight... the Rhine is beautiful from the air. We decided to sight see some today and made our way to the cathedral by Cologne which is actually in Koln. Its beautiful and pictures won't do it justice. We're also within a stone's throw from the river. Beer and food are also fantastic. Kolsch beer is my favorite so far and the smoked pork knuckles are fantastic. I'll try to take some pics of our chem plant tomorrow. It was also very impressive from the air.

1st time wearing one of these.
JestersHK replied to dan hufferd's topic in General Angling Discussion
Camo cargo shorts and black socks! Oh the humanity!!! What is wrong with you? <says the ugly bald guy who wears same setup> Light colored patterns are awesome, but man I wreck em quick with dirt, slime, blood etc... Not that I care, but they get ugly real fast. The gloves are awesome too, but man getting the stink out of them is like trying to get the smell out of hockey gear LOL -
Dang, 30 on the dry... That's doing it right. Nice job

Yeah I am very excited to see the one in Cologne. Will be weird to stand in an area where my grandfathers B-17 potentially dropped bombs on so many moons ago... Thank you for the link Ness! I will def give that a watch before I go, or if I can figure out how to download it watch it on the plane. Even if I don't fish I'll throw some pics up in here of the cathedral for sure.

I ended up last week getting notice that I'll be in Germany for work next week... I fly out on Saturday and will be staying in Cologne for the week. May have some free time on Sunday and the following Friday, but been struggling to find solid info on fishing over there. Figured I'd try here on a long shot to see if anyone's made the trip over there, and if so did any fishing? I have local resources on the ground over there too trying to help me get things setup so we'll see where it goes. Fishing license looks interesting. Apparently cath and release is prohibited in certain areas and you can be fined for animal cruelty if you dont keep your catch?
