  1. I just took my phone and held it up to the lens to capture that. They make adapters that clip on, but yeah the first time I looked up on a cloudless night I was blown away... The NV astrology stuff is ungodly expensive but truly breathtaking. The first time I saw Andromeda I was very humbled.
  2. Not quite that, but yes it can get crazy expensive real quick. For me being a nocturnal creature already it was about literally buying a superpower. Being able to see in the dark, and track with thermal is a game changer. You can jump into some gen 2night vision for 2k. I unfortunately have friends who have expensive tastes... once you look through high end gear it ruins you... It's truly buy once cry once, but for me as much as I'm out in the dark I'll use it way more than the guys who just LARP with it and it sits in their safe. I've probably got close to 40 hours on my stuff already in just the past 2 months. Some guys by 40k boats or drop 5k on a set of golf clubs. Or dare I say have as much in tackle as I got tied up in this. It's all relative. If you want to take it for a spin I'd be happy to show ya, but fair warning that's how I got started in this mess 😆
  3. Gonna miss you for sure buddy. I tell ya what we'll have to do a swap when you get back. Cheesecake for elk steaks! hope you have a great and successful hunt.
  4. Me, Rob, Brandon, Ray, and possibly other Brandon will be down Thursday late morning or early afternoon.
  5. I kind of jumped all in, although still not as crazy as some others in this game. That's an OMNI 7 PVS14. I'm running it paired up with a helmet mounted MH25 thermal for night time hunting. I've only been out 7 or 8 times so far and have a skunk and an unrecovered hog and a bunch of missed shots on hogs and yotes as I get used to shooting at night with IR laser. Having NV in dominant eye and thermal in the other gives me a good blend when chasing night time critters. It's about the most fun you can have with your clothes on as I'm getting within 10 to 20 feet from some of these animals in the dark.
  6. Living the good life and love the variety buddy. Glad you got into them.
  7. I'm sure you'll be back to get him and look forward to the pics when you land him. Nice cutt too.
  8. So awesome to see. Way to go guys. Happy Thanksgiving to all you fine people.
  9. Funny Blake and I were talking about that Sunday night as we were fishing. Told him it was right around the corner and @Sethwould be here to work his magic lol
  10. I've been star gazing in a whole different level lately... I've been trying to get a good pic of the Andromeda galaxy as you can really see the spiral. Here's a good one of the milky way. First time on a clear night it looked like space invaders up there as you can see all the satellites under NV
  11. Was driving home from my last night time hog hunt. Saw it and watched it for a bit. Pretty cool to see.
  12. Yep I just put an order in last night and got shipping info today.
  13. Has anyone heard from Richard Cross? @ZigJigman? Wasn't sure if he'd be around to sell us some jigs? I forgot to pick up jigs at Phil's this weekend so need to order some...
  14. Awesome deer there! Congrats to them.
  15. Oh she's def a fishy one... she just needs a better teacher lol. She gets the one fish guarantee just like everyone else then she's on her own I did catch a stud male on the long rod, and it was a blast. He was flirting with 20in, but didn't take time to officially measure so we'll call him 19
  16. Well we started out again last night. My oldest Kierstin and I headed out with a fly rod and a jerk bait rod to see what we could find. We started up by outlet 2, but we kept missing bite after bite a my kiddo was trying to knock the rust off. Blake met us a bit later after his own adventure and we headed out to big hole down past rebar. My kiddos fish DNA finally reactivated and she started catching lol. There was a point Blake and I worked a bit of magic and we were calling shots and casts for 4 fish in a row lol. I would team up and send a super long casts out for my daughter then on the retrieve she'd catch em. This was quite frustrating as we made fun of her casting haha but all in good fun, and she was back on her own. Overall a great night. Slower night than yesterday, but some really quality fish. Kierstin used a Plum crazy jerk and I used same wooly bugger
  17. Started out late last night, hung out between outlet 2 and 3. Lots of surface activity. Decided to to run just a fly rod since I was by myself. First cast on a olive and black wooly bugger I was hooked up. Catching was really good. I broke a hook off on a big one, had a big male for best fish of the night and a little brownie too. Looking forward to this evening again, hope the bite stays hot
  18. Yeah they have a good system down as long as everyone follows the rules. We need to work on a better food source too for them. They deer have good genetics though. The coyotes and hogs got to go though. I'm going to have a busy year and lots of long nights thinning them out. They've trapped over 30 hogs and killed over by dozen already.
  19. This was @BigHandsRob Deer he got Friday evening with his Xbow, and the other is a 10pt as well that was taken by another buddy of ours same evening. Robs deer got hit by coyotes before we found it.
  20. A few more. He still had cedar on his brow tines too.
  21. Have a few more when I get better service. He's a solid 10pt with that front fork
  22. I'm pretty much a meat hunter, and my hunt club guys love that i keep the doe numbers knocked down when I can... We have strict rules amongst us that bucks must be 8 or better, and outside the ears, and if you shoot it, you have to have it mounted. The system works and we manage to get some nice deer down here in Crawford County. So those rules generally I never worry about as I shoot slick heads, but this morning I was in a tizzy trying to go thru them all as I say this guy right after a doe flew by me. He was hot on her trail, and I had very little time to judge him, but he's within the rules, and now I need a taxidermist. My best buck, first buck in 26 years, and I was pretty happy when I walked up on him. 60 yards, .270, right behind shoulder as he was trotting away from me. A perfect heart shot that knocked him down, kicked for just a minute then done, no tracking.
  23. Let's keep it real, some of us husky fellers just come for the food lol Good times, can't wait to see everyone here soon.
  24. Way to go buddy! Looking forward to seeing ya next month.
  25. I'm hoping to get my oldest out again this year. She's 16 now so no more youth season. Trying to make schedules work as she's a working kid now, but gonna try to convince her to skip a day of school to go...
