  1. Spooned up 2 walleye right at noon in 15ft of water. Number 2 came unbuttoned on the lift (dumb move) looked to be about the same length. If you know this bank that is the spot.😁 Binks 1/2 oz silver. These are my 1st Walleye from Beaver lake. Going again in the morning😁
  2. Any one ever try those dissolved oxygen meter/gauge thingys ? I have always wondered about that when they have to pull so much water.
  3. Oh yeah, I forgot, thanks !
  4. For me yes, and invisibility.
  5. That's awesome ! I tried to do that google measurement thing too, I use it for shooting coyotes near the house, but couldn't get it to work, on my pc this time. Anyway thanks, I am still very new at this it sounds like 40 to 50 is a normal thing with the right bait.
  6. That is where braid shines you can feel alot ! I can feel a 1/2 spoon flutter down on a long cast. If there is a bunch of wind you you have to watch the line as the spoon goes down, but if a fish hits it you know quickly. Cons: it blows in the wind some, you have to have cutters. Palomar knot is a must. Price, having to tie a leader, it will cut your hand if you try to brake it. Pros: No stretch, great sensitivity, it's like having a new rig, it lasts a long time, if you don't store it in the sun. Really good hook sets. I buy the coated stuff, I have tried at least 6 different brands. I like the spiderwire stealth braid. They do not give me money to say that, I wish they would. I use it on everything to spite the cons. Hope that helps
  7. I can get more that 60 yards with this rig, but only 10lb braid 1/2oz weight. 6'6" medium fast lighting rod lews tournament ts200. I wonder if I can play a striper down on that😁? I never thought about distance until now, just fish.
  8. Not to beat a dead horse, I found this enjoyable.
  9. I found this from 2012
  10. I use braid it holds 150yrs of 20 lb spiderwire stealth.
  11. Thanks to everyone for the input !
  12. I guess I don't, but hey what do I know, I am a baby when it comes to bait casters, $100 was enough $ for me ! It is just a hobby. If I get hungry I am sure not going to fish for my food, if I do I won't be casting anything at them.
  13. I will go try it again, just to make sure. I don't want to sound like an idiot (too late) Here is my little set up: lews speed spool ss1s hla , line: 20 lb spiderwire stealth braid , rod : daiwa aird 661 mxb. 1/2 oz lead sinker. I don't have one of those fancy rubber casting thingys. There is a slight cross wind here, just now casting across the wind 1st cast set tight 27 yrs. jacked with it a little, second cast 42 yrs no backlash, 45 yrs for the 3rd with a slight cross wind. tried one more really chucked it this time, broke my line, so I must have had a back lash that I reeled over. Anyway I am still practicing, I know that I am green at this. I guess I was just trying to set this thing up and find the limit, it sounds like mid to low 40s is it.
  14. I was never really concerned about distance, but I would like to go for striper, it seem like a long cast is desirable. I have fished walleye where a long cast is nice as well. I am just trying to figure it out. I gather my reel is at it's potential for distance. I recently viewed a video of the curado dc casting over 60 yards ! I will post it if i can find it again.
  15. I am casting just a weight in the yard, 47 yards. A spinner bait, or A rig would be less for sure.
  16. I thought I would grow up and start throwing a baitcaster more, I use these things for vertical jigging and trolling, but I tend to use a spinning reel for casting. I want to fish not untangle birds nests, anyway...fathers day was a good time to buy myself a new reel so I went for it and bought a lews speed spool. I did put braid on it just like my spinning stuff but I went up to 20lb instead 10. pole 6'6" medium fast. I probably have it set up too tight, I can get about 47 yards with a 1/2 oz weight. I haven't measured my spinning set up for distance, but I am sure it will be more. Other than a nice button to release line, what is the advantage of a baitcaster? On my spinning set up I can switch back and forth between various weights and weightless baits with no trouble. It also seems like there is more sensitivity with a spinning reel, that could just be me. I welcome your feed back. Thanks
  17. Don't tell him about the blue tiger #7. Then he will know the magic one😁

You should keep all of them. I guess I would eat one if I was hungry.

I have caught a brazilian drum on a spoon. You can always tell what they are on the graph, those things can feel the vibration of a bait from quite a distance. If you see a suspended fish on your sonar, vector directly for your spoon, it is probably a drum.
  20. Lucky suckers😁
  21. That is a $1000 off I am suprised it is still for sale.
  22. Too late, I figure I will learn it, if not I will put it on a spinning reel. Something new for me.
  23. I have a friend who does that too, Tom D. Do you know him? Good luck!
