  1. Yep what hunter53 said. I let a lot out, more than what you need.
  2. Zoom Green pumpkin seed magnum finesse, or electric plum, in that order. Or cut the magnum in 1/2 and make a ned
  3. Ok I have a story.... When I was in my 20's I fished the upper James river a lot mostly for catfish. One night I was running my trotlines, my favorite line was between two stumps on the edge of bluff. the bluff came up out of the water about 2 feet and then back towards the bank about 5 feet then straight up a rock wall for at least 50 ft. To be clear this made a ledge that was elevated 2 ft above the water and was 5 ft deep. You could not get to it but only by boat. It was a cool full moon night well after dark, I was using an old sealed beam head light for a spot light. as I was nearing my line I noticed that the ledge that my trotline was hanging from looked weird.I picked up my home-made spot light to see what was going on... and man I have never seen that many snakes in my life ! I don't know how long that ledge was, but as far as my light could see it was wall to wall snakes. I would guess that the cool temps and warm rocks made for great snake habitat. At least they were kind enough to sleep were no one can walk. I did get my catfish from the line and as I remember a couple turtles. I fished that same place many times after that, but never saw that phenomenon again.
  4. That is funny, monkeys?? no clowns they are scary!
  5. I like you Champ. You are all right I don't care what they say. To bad people can't just be honest and take a pic' with measurements and then let the thing go right where you caught it,take the best 5 and be done. Then this discussion would be moot. I have youtube friends that that don't fish for anything but fun they do this all the time, and none of us question each other about our measurements. There is no reason lie. Add some bucks and prestige and watch the cheating begin. I never question anyone's picture on this forum, I just say "Good job" and I am happy/jealous. It is important to remember why and when we started fishing in the 1st place, and why we share our successes with others. I know this all sounds naive, but I don't care. If someone has to make a competitor tell the truth then that person is not competing they are stealing. Sorry I am done now, wow I need to get on the lake !
  6. My son has my old boat with a 1998 Yamaha 40hp 2 stroke. Very good in every way. He lives in Texas on the river, and fishes it every day. You only choke it once at the beginning of the day and never touch the choke again, unlike my 2003 merc if you leave it off for 5 minutes you will have to choke it. I have no idea about any other displacement that Yamaha makes, but I know you see 40 and 50 hp models in TV shows around the world. Next time you see a show with one of those rubber boats going up on the beach look it will be a Yamaha. They are everywhere.
  7. I have known this my whole life, but you are the only other person that I have ever heard comment on it. It has proven true for me. I even saw a copperhead loose it on a bluff (somewhere on Indian Creek) and go into the water. it too floated. I would not rely solely on this, but it is a curious observation.
  8. I know you are right ! David Counts, Counts Archery Monett Mo. can tell you all about it. I don't know what I would do if one of mine did a foolish thing like that. I hope I never have to find out. There is no game worth human life. Better to let one get away than take a chance. This is common sense right ?
  9. Pretty hot topic for sure. I have fish coves after a tournament where the fish were released. I have often wondered what happens to all those beds, and hey how come no one puts walleye back ? That's what I am talking about ! Now I have my left up ! (Fred Sanford reference}
  10. It sucks that people do that. Be CAREFUL waving at people, I had a friend of mine get shot by some idiot who thought his hand was a turkey head. He lived but still carries pellets in his hand and neck.
  11. Champ I just bought that same reel. I love it. Maybe it will make me catch a boat load of fish too. I think I will hold it out in front of the boat and maybe it will point to that spot you are fishing, you know like a compass. I bet it would be a good time to find some walleye on T Rock ??
  12. I was going to say the walleye and trout would be 1st
  13. Took a road trip to Lilley's Landing yesterday, just to get some OAF tees and hats.

Your staff was great, the place is beautiful. I can see me getting worm dirt all over that nice white shirt, how about some in "worm dirt" color.

It was my 1st time down there it looks like a great place to spend a weekend and the price is right.

  14. Hey that's my fish ! That's just not right, no really great job AWESOME !
  15. I will go ahead and say it...Theses values that we have forgotten started with our knowledge of God. Even my foul mouthed father took us to church and taught us to not curse around women and children. and to say yes sir and no sir and so on. You don't learn reverence in school. The farther away from God we get the worse we get. We are just too smart to keep God around. Hey look we got off topic again It's wrong to cheat too.
  16. I would be interested in goggle eye, good eating. Love those smallies ! Great pic's the water looks good.
  17. You are right the rock piles would be a good thing to know. Thanks for the post
  18. Yes it is right, there was over 1/2 the vid that got scrapped due to the low lighting. I lightened it up as much as possible when I edited it. I can enhance it some more on Youtube, but I figured it was OK as is. As the sun went down the bite was on but when darkness set in it was over, like flipping a switch, very fun !
  19. That is a beauty ! It's all right if you don't have a boat for a while, I will come down and you can teach me a thing or three. I too am recovering from something at the moment, it will be a little while before I can go. I will send this to a couple people too.
  20. That makes me NOT want to fish the Rock any more. I would hate to bring those things to my Stockton. I know you can wash them out but still. YUCK Some of the best walleye and smallmouth fisheries are covered in mussels, and people fish a lot of cheaper jigs there too. Well maybe that last comment isn't substantiated but I would
  21. That is what it is all about. You mentioned snakes, last week I ran across a cottonmouth sunning, it was ready to shed, so it was defensive. Anyone floating should be extra careful where they place hands and feet. A poorly placed hand on a limb or log jam could make for a really bad float trip. After they shed they will probably see you 1st. I am sure everyone knows this. If you didn't now you do
  22. Thank you guys for the complements. I like to know what the environment looks like around different Missouri forage, so that was my motivation for this little movie, and this location is a new one for me, it was odd where they were growing. Not an open location, very tangled, which my have contributed to the small size. Almost all were uniformly small even the dry ones.
  23. Yep run fast they love it ! I have a grandson that is 7. Don't even get out of the car if he is playing with the dogs, they love that kid. It will be on like donkey kong !
  24. Those are some fatties. Great job !
  25. oodlesiggy That is great ! It is funny how a walleye makes people smile.
