I agree Big Creek is awesome. Never heard of Murder Rock, what's up with that? Where? Who designed it? I'm surprised nobody mentioned my favorite, Pointe Royale. When those greens are running fast, it's a handful. Haven't played it in years though. I've lost a lot of money on that track. SIO3

I play alot. I live in the St. Louis metro area and play 2 leagues a week plus any other time I can go. Which amounts to 3 times a week at least. That's the schedule when the time changes to daylight savings. I hit the heated tees every couple weeks during the cold spells but I'll play if it's above 40 and not too windy. Haven't been able to play for a few weeks now and it's killing me. Cabin fever has set in. Can't wait for March 10 which is the first league day of the year. SIO3
  3. That's the best report I've seen in a looonnnngg time. Great!!! Let's see, I haven't been since December and they have snow and sleet warnings for this weekend. Which, we were going to go to Mountain Home but the trip is now canceled. Maybe next weeekend I'll go. SIO3
  4. I'll have that brat on the left and a beer please. Nice, very nice. Wish I was there. SIO3
  5. Hi Terry I think you mean Japanese Steak-house where they prepare food at a grill with you sitting around it? Hibachi is open flame cooking. There is a Shogun's in branson on 165 just north of the dam. I googled Japanese steak-house Springfield MO are there are several listed. Hope this helps. SIO3
  6. I don't see a real leader in any of the candidates. Kinda scary if you ask me. SIO3
  7. Hey Freak you're not missing anything compared to time with the family. My daughter is 9 and I'm getting her a 7 foot, med-heavy spinning rod so she can go with me bass fishing this year. She's always gone with me in the past but last year she took over my outfit. She said she's done with those kiddy rods, a girl can't set the hook with those. Enjoy my friend it only gets better. SIO3
  8. Thanks Dano. I found some #18's but they are straight eye hooks. What is the difference in turned down eyes and straight? SIO3
  9. I'm out of size 18 dry fly hooks and can't any today. Do you think I could substitute a #18 scud hook to tie an emerger like a Dan's or chuck's. Would the hook be too heavy or deform the shape of the fly too much? Let me hear everybodies thoughts on it. Maybe John Berry or Dano could chime in? Thanks in advance guys. SIO3
  10. Thanks Bill. Funny you should mention live bait. While fishing this same lake back in the heat of summer a guy walked up with his kid and chucked in a piece of hotdog on a hook, no weight. I thought he was catfishing but boy was I wrong. He caught bass after bass. I asked him if he was really targeting cats and he said "no, bass". I asked him about his unusual bait and he said his kid discovered it while originally trying to catch cats and bluegill. He said he's absolutely killed em at L of the O using them. I'll give it a go and let you know what happens. That is if the lakes don't freeze over again this week. I've caught a lot of big bass well before the dogwoods bloom. I started fishing year round up here when I read a magazine called "The Pennsylvania Angler" years a o. It listed all the state records and believe it or not the record bass were caught right after ice-out. I think it was March in Pennsylvania. I think pre-spawn is the best bass fishing of the year, followed by late fall. SIO3
  11. Hey Bill I live in the St. Louis area and went out yesterday to a local subdivision lake. For me it was a perfect winter set-up. Warm, sunny and a good wind. Not a bite, not a sniff. Threw cranks, spinnerbaits, flukes, worms and jigs. The lake had ice on it till Wednesday but it's still the first time I've never caught a fish on it no matter the time of year. Interesting thing though. They may have salted the streets during the last snow storm but I'm not positive. If so, what do you think that would do to fishing? Anyway that's my report. Sorry it's not about the big impoundments. SIO3
  12. Heck Dano, that's okay we have a boat, brang it. SIO3
  13. I don't think I'll get it but, I'll probably fill the tank on the Yukon and by some #18 dry fly hooks I've been out of. Yep that ought to cover it. SIO3
  14. I can't wait to see what Minimum flow looks like. SIO3
  15. Hi Phil Good report. Wish I was there. I'm headed down there Friday, weather permitting. Who said it was minimum flow? The dam line? Terry I'm sure you meant to type "rainbow" with SJW in it's mouth. SIO3
  16. Oh!! That's right. Good call. Carry on. SIO3
  17. Hey Phil That first picture is really good. Thanks. What you mean Trav? SIO3
  18. Maybe someone could tell me what he did for a "tune-up" every 3000 miles? Plugs? Wires? I can see the oil change but why, and what else, would you change every 3000 miles? SIO3
  19. Were they generating Phil? And, would that make a difference? SIO3
  20. Interesting. I've fished out of many and one day hopped up on the platform to see what the view was. Incredible what you can see from that vantage point. SIO3
  21. I've caught reds all around the gulf coast and the Atlantic side of Florida. One fly has worked everywhere, spoon fly. Gold and silver both work but gold has worked better for me through many trips. A popular spoon fly south of New Orleans was painted red, white and blue and those reds would chase and whack that thing like there was no tomorrow. Call local guides and see what's up. I'd even call Feathercraft fly shop in St. Louis, those guys know guides and individuals all around the country. SIO3
  22. It's so nice to see a Fox post again. SIO3
  23. Hey there Bojack The first level is river level and better for trailers. All the rest of the sites are up the hill from the river. You can google up Bennett Spring and see what's up. Point is, call early if you want to stay on the first level nearest the river. SIO3
  24. If you want any of the sites on the first level on any popualr weekend you better call and reserve as soon as you can. SIO3
