Thursday I dropped my girls at S Dollar City and headed to Lilly's to rent a boat. Thanks Phil!! Tailwater was was around 2,800 CFS when I left the dock but they bumped it up soon after. I normally go upriver looking for fish and then drift back through them or find midging fish and fish to them. Couldn't do either due to murky water so I headed to the island at Point Royal. There were 5 guide boats anchored up with fisherman all over the place. I knew they would leave around 11-11:30 so I hung around until they did. I caught fish but didn't set the world on fire. Most came on a grey scud and a couple on tan.
Friday I went wading at the dam with around 3200 CFS running. The water was noticeably clearer. I threw jigs hoping to get out further and try to get on a decent jig bite. I caught a couple but not great. I hung around the cable but there was not a lot of catching going on from anyone. I went down below the 3rd outlet and did pretty good on assorted midges and scuds fly fishing. I kept switching flies but no real pattern developed. I had to head back to condo so I left.
The weather was beautiful and Phil's staff are real nice. All of the fish are real nice and fat. Even a 12'er was bulging at the gut. I saw several other Lilley's rentals out on the water and we spoke briefly. I'll be back in July for another family trip and I'll try and get out then.

I used to fish in big cedar cove and do pretty well. There is a lot of gravel on the whole south side of the cove.
My condo overlooks the island in clevenger. There has been a fisherman in that saddle on the south side since Monday. This morning nobody was there and fish were busting shad like crazy.

I didn't know where else to put this but since you guys are in the area I thought this would be okay.
Went over there Saturday at first light. It took the guy 20 minutes to check us in. We used flukes, spinner baits, buzz baits, Ned, and assorted soft plastics. One small bass near the rip rap on the outflow canal. The place is overrun with gar. Big ones too. I had probably ten of them take the fluke but they didn't stay pinned of course. We had Asian carp flying around us a couple times too. We would spook them with the trolling motor and they would fly. There is absolutely zero cover in there. It's a silt bowl. Overall it was pretty bad and I won't go back.
My buddy has been catching catfish over there and they stock em on Thursday.

I bought some TRD's and they work great! Dave's jig heads rock. I have another coming today from Dave.
Flouro, sometimes they hammer it right when it hits the water other times they just swim off with it. Reel down let the rod load up on them.
At least that's what works for me.
I put my pond prowler in the Alton slough on the north side of 67 a few years ago. It looked very fishy but I only fished for about 30 minutes. I look over and two young gentleman are trying to break into my truck. I trolled right behind them and asked if they needed help. They gave me a funny look and then hopped in their car and took off. I packed it in and left.

Herman is nice. Used to be better before the open container law. You could walk from bar to bar downtown in the fall.
I've been to a few weddings there too.
I went to the Food Truck Frenzy Saturday at the local Community College. Over 50 trucks, live music and plenty of beverages. I understand you pay up a little to have a truck bring it someplace but we all thought it was a little pricey.
We had a great time in spite of it. People watching was A+.
Thursday is a Sip and Savor of a bunch of restaurants at a local park. I've been attending for years. The Weekend is the Ribfest. Always good freak watching there.
And then I head to Tablerock for the week!!
Pflueger backordered my last request for the President Limited Edition.
I have an old Daiwa that I broke the return spring on 20 years ago. Still works fine if you close the bail manually which I do out of habit anyway.
