  1. I caught a male smallie on 3 consecutive flips a few days ago. The males go back with haste. I’d C&R hunt if I could. I like seeing fish, it’s a neat deal to me. The different species have different attitudes and individual fish have different triggers. That said, if you are in water you can’t see through, how do you know if they are on a bed or not?
  2. It’s uphill to my shop and of course the shop is flat . Camera works perfectly
  3. ^^This is my go to in snot. Cast, tight line, bow to the bite. Green pumpkin finesse worm and hang on. I usually use a split shot (1/4 oz?) with bait up 10-12” Pure pea gravel (typically) has less algae. As a bonus it also typically has brownies that are a blast to catch.
  4. 10 at 20+ is pretty good. My team needs a little luck tomorrow to lock in Saturday for all 5! I find it impressive how little weight separates the field. 8-10 ounces is the ball bouncing your way. 8-10 ounces on 18+ lbs is gravy on a good pattern.
  5. Pre fishing a big bass event baffles me. Like anyone in the history of the world establishes a pattern for 8lb fish.... anyone have a productive explanation for catching a fish prior to a big bass event? Or, ever positively caught a big fish twice in a 3 day span that didn’t involve a bed?
  6. Look like remote drain valves. Have to know where the ends hook or positions to say for sure. There are drain, fill and recirculated versions as well as drain/fill. If the latter, skip and use a bailer plug to remove a system risk.
  7. Especially if you have a modern fuel injected truck!!😀
  8. Dallas showed a pic to me from the water of the big bass. Beautiful fish. Built like one from San Diego lakes we see in pictures.
  9. Back to the question about release fish.... I used to count on some to start a bag and in my experience, it’s a short window before they moved on. We planted cover specifically where release boats went “out of sight” on Truman and had several other go to holes to get a keeper. The bass move on pretty quickly. Seemed like about a 10 day window after a decent sized derby before it became not worth the effort. That said, it’s still only a % you can get to bite. If it were otherwise, every derby would be settled at bucksaw, alhonna, pb2, ahoys, long creek marina, RB, state park, etc. certainly not how it turns out the data isn’t there....
  10. I don’t often use spinning gear, but when I do ..... braid on every spinning rod used by anyone I’m kin to and me. It’s absolutely phenomenal for feel, casting distance and trouble free. Hi vis yellow, green and pink. With a fluoro leader, it’s all good Some is into it’s 3rd season this year. Unless it frays, I’m waiting for it to show signs of weakening before changing
  11. Is it really just that simple??? Did you determine 3 miles per marker point or was there a source? I’m in shock
  12. This guy is way worried about cwd....
  13. They eat umbrella rigs made from wire... really depends on how (lures/style) u are fishing. 12-15 seems safe enough to me. Maybe a bit heavy for spinning gear.

    Pickled Asparagus

Having read many food posts, who has a go too pickling recipe for asparagus? with the too cold temps I beat the loss and cut my asparagus. I tried pickling some yesterday and am not crazy about the flavor. Too vinegary. The onion in it is great as are the pepper rings but the asparagus is just ok. I trimmed some to jar length and the rest cut to 3/4-1” for putting on salads later. In coming weeks I’ll need to can more Ready for tips and ideas...first 3 jars ive ever canned of anything. Edit...we love wickles pickles and okra, I’d be over joyed to create something similar
  15. Our pontoon (G3) has a vinyl floor. It’s not slick when wet. Under shoes, flip flops or barefoot. Clean with a hose or whisk broom. Love it.
  16. Very nice work 👍🏻
  17. If you can see beds, they will eat a floating worm....they tend to get it and hook ups are high. It’s fun stuff and I’m glad they are falling out of favor 🙂
  18. Friday we found the males to be in 15-25’ 10-15 down. Less where dirty (12”) more so where the clarity came to 2-3’. Every fish was off the bottom. The handful of females we caught were on timber in the middle of pockets. I’m a bank beater by nature and kept seeing fish on my graph while beating the bank. The females on timber was a lucky guess. We fished arigs, I’m guessing a stickbait would work though it lacks the blades and vibration for the dirtier water Its like many fish stayed right where the were and let the lake come over them. I hoped the moon might override the temps and it looks like the temps won.
  19. first world problem for sure...makes me jealous. Oh to have poles and spot lock 🙂
  20. Dial in on windy chunk rock with timber and back out a little, you will get more bites. Shad feed is still going strong.
  21. Little bit of debris, good water clarity above mouth of the James a bit more color. Had a mixed bag of all 3 species. Could not figure out a shallow bite and only 3-4 on a crankbait 1 brownie kept. Can still catch suspended fish in timber, had 15 keepers that way. Nothing over 4 lbs Fun fishing.
  22. I fished it last year and whole heartedly agree there needs to be more weigh in locations. If not to increase participation, for the safety of folks fishing should the wind blow. A little consideration in weigh spots would go a long way. I can only imagine the decrease in big bass bash participation if you could only weigh at coconuts in the gravois arm at l of o.
  23. Fellows lake area has a couple
  24. Short answer is “in places” it’s ok to be by the channel. It really depends on the lake level. 708 is flat out spooky if you’ve ever seen it at 706. With trees decaying at “pool” the amount of timber just below the surface is astounding. Truman was my home lake and I can say i have literally seen the whole lake from as far as u can navigate up tributaries to the dam on all arms That said, have the folks at bucksaw draw your run path on a map and suggest idle areas. The entire lake can be run on pad if u know it. From long shoal to sterret creek to Osage bluff, run anywhere on the main body u don’t see trees or danger buoys with no worries.
  25. I’m electronic ignorant and run helixes. Recently added 360 on the bow. The image is good, the waypoint overlay on 360 scan is sweet. Whatever way you go, go big. 7 is kinda minimum for si and nav. 9 is exponentially better than 7 for usable pictures. I’ve not heard anyone complain their graph screen is too big.
