Yes on checking, Greene county. no doubt on the browse and the doe I shot was the leanest deer I’ve ever harvested. Thin layer at the base of the tail. There are more taken by car than hunters within a mile of my place.

I’m planning to put in a food plot or 2 behind my house this spring to aid in regular deer traffic for harvest. I live amongst several small 5-25 acre homesites and a few large working cattle/hay operations. Limited timber and all that is around is across many landowners. Unless DRT, a deer changes landowners while expiring We have a ridiculous amount of deer and most folks don’t and won’t hunt in the area. One guy 1/8 mike down the road walks his perimeter looking for trespassing during general deer season. I harvested an archery doe this year and need to do so at least once a year. As you might imagine deer are as small in stature as they are numerous. So, to the subject line, I’m thinking about putting out some feed to help survival and at the same time I hate to perpetuate the overcrowded condition. Don’t like the idea of them starving, seems cruel and wasteful. Thoughts?

Do not unhook your bow eye if before backing to launch depth if below 32. Had a near miss once. you will stop sliding after your rear tires are in the water. Long story and the lessons above were my take away.

Plug, For sure at ozarks. Maybe not so much at table rock. Like wrench said, I too throw a shorter handle 6’9” ( I think) parabolic rod at l of o. More of a gentle jerk. I cut my jerkbait teeth at ozarks. Seems a little more gentle and much shallower there (my favorite). Love the pointer 78 in aurora black there along with the clown tend to jerk the rod towards the gunnels and hate hitting the water At table rock, I throw a 7’ st croix crankbait rod with a moderate action. Much longer casts and a significantly harder jerk in the clearer water. Megabass 110+1 jerks are more sidearm and much longer From what little I can tell, Stockton fishes somewhere in between. Throw the above plus a RC stick here. Orange bellies and clouds get bass and eyes here 10lb invisx normally, might go 12 at l of o or in some color on Stockton. I don’t own lighter line and with ice, trees, docks, rocks and brush....10 makes a $25 megabass nerve wrecking. Cover matters. I want to believe color and flash matter yet I tend to tie on a shade with the most teeth marks and battle scars most of the time. hope Christmas was good for you all.

The Milwaukee products share batteries within their family. This shows to be M12 so any M12 tool would use the battery. Milwaukee makes a great cordless tool, buy with confidence.

Like the analogy...if it’s eating preference which way are you intending it??? Kim is a crappie?
-
Wrench, you are starting to sound like an advocate for whites like one here is for carp.... Berating crappie won’t make whites any better...
-
Can’t go by what they hatch as. Looks like it might be transitioning to it gender of choice.

If it ain’t fried, I won’t eat a fish. Good breading keeps a fat boy coming back.... nobody shows up for a “fish bake” or “fish grill”... you are spot on with the fight of the fish. Whites have a grudge. Like a jack Russel...

I sold several 2 years ago. NIB really adds to the value. Just having the box to get the correct color code (V77,V44,etc) Is handy. The stamp under the bill being legible is a good thing too. If you have a color to sell that matches one of the crazy high priced one, good for you and list it quick! several on here could help with color codes if you need it. Good luck and know the current gen warts, rapala dt series and rock crawlers do a good enough job almost every day and less defective baits than to old warts as cart7 mentions.

And.... ” Want another piece of fish?” “man, these are good “ ”delicious “ ”yum” ...couldn't resist, crappie taste so good. I’m sure there is someone that doesn’t like eating them. Not that whites are bad, just a little more skill to prepare. A novice can clean and cook crappie with no bones or red meat.

Just to clarify, per the article “Piercy had been on unpaid administrative leave since he was criminally charged in December 2015.” whole thing was terrible, plenty of arrogance and disregard all around the situation. Sad that mutual respect has diminished as it has.

Silver box (dark red hull) Federal’s shoot pretty clean and true thru a beretta family barrel. Kent is my preference. Have processed multiple cases of 3” #4 12ga Kent without fail or issue. including the occasional shell that swam before shooting. Not the cheapest but not terribly high either. Have not shot their 20s yet but am itching to get to work with them.

Do you water swat with #6’s? Found the cheap steel dove loads to be handy for that. Easily done in an O/U not as much with a semi. Of course not a distance deal but pretty effective if u shoot below the head. Makes the dogs life better. Then again it was a fish eater....

The May not like to fish as much as I thought. Certainly the best way mentioned thus far....and in a PG manner. Well done.

My cold fishing gear is all carryover from duck hunting. I’m a rag wool (kind that fit either hand) fan. Warm while wet is a tough combo that few materials match wool. Multiple pairs is a must. Macks prairie wings has several good options. Amazon sells cheap wool gloves. Drake waterfowl has some top notch stuff, Avery sells some good stuff just typically not as long lasting. That said, fishing is little easier on gear than ducks at temps below 32 Like said above, ski/snowmobile gloves for driving. I still put a helmet in for the winter stuff but it wears my neck out if any distance is involved. Any more just short moves and hide behind the windshield. The sun buff neck gaiters help in the winter too.

What Factors influence the Smallmouth population
Basfis replied to Jim Spriggs's topic in Meramec River
I get the desire to reverse mans impact and I love catching brownies. That said, somewhere along the way they have to dominate on their own. Be it better genes or a little help from anglers. Talk of eliminating competition from other native (never mind lumped in the family) fish is kinda over the top. There was a post the other day about a tagged fish that grew like 1” in 3 years. That kind of genetic drive leaves openings. -
Boat Maintenance

FWIW I put a BPS XPS single bank charger into a diesel engine test cell 4 years ago. Been on 24/7 365 on the same battery without issue since that day. In a wash down environment too. Lord knows how many cranking cycles it’s been through with purging fuel and starting diesels, has to 1000’s. No idea if they are all that good....bargain price. -
We look all day every day for skills like machining or programming. Win some, lose some and rely on programming decisions into the machines to compensate. Big difference between a machinist and an operator... back to taxes, the employed pay plenty... machinists or fat cat execs.

Blakemore spray, fluoro line, extra matching combo. Dip in lake spray often and only go if above freezing is predicted More importantly, rag wool gloves or actually water proof gloves and more than 1 pair along with an auto inflatable pfd.

why do other states have bigger smallmouth bass?
Basfis replied to MoCarp's topic in Conservation Issues
Don’t let one little area determine the population as a whole. We dodge deer and see turkeys every day twice a day. Populations ebb and flow. EHD is rough on a spot for a couple years then there they are. Same with hatching conditions for turkey. -
I’ve been advised to look at Roth and whole life insurance vs the 529 to avoid fund appearing as “available” for education expenses. Assuming of course grants or loans are sought. No idea how/if it impacts scholarships. Anyone heard similar advice?

Am I hosed with an iPhone?

To add, no interest in gps location of catches, pictures of catches, social media sharing, etc. nuts and bolts of conditions and results for future reference.

I searched for fishing logs and did find some good info and a link to an excel template. All good. Years ago I had a binder with copies from an old Midwest bass magazine (or something similar). Fast forward, I’ve looked at a couple apps and what I’ve seen is fairly elementary and lacking some detail (where, temps, barometer, skied, recent weather, etc). I hate using a computer at home and would really like a phone/cloud based platform. Anyone found one they are happy with and how searchable is it?
