My friend had talked me into trying Table Rock but after checking TRL forum and online calendar decided not to go because of two tournaments this weekend. Too many boats out there pre-fishing. So I ended up going on the James. Put in before sunrise and slowly worked upstream. Pretty calm on the water and it was the normal 1 foot of clarity. Also cloudy skies. Saw 2 other boats and 1 yak the whole time. Worked past a bridge using the ned and topwater and then I got a hit on my heddon baby torpedo, remembered to wait just a moment set the hook and reeled in a little largemouth bass. I was pretty excited and dunked my reel in the river while I was trying to get the bass unhooked. Kept fishing and moved on to a different spot upstream and caught 2 more small bass in about 2 feet of water. One came off the hook right as I got it next to the yak. The other I managed to get a pic of. All fish were released to fight another day. Now I didn't catch a really big one or 50 in one day but I just started getting into fishing not that long ago and I'm still pretty new to this kayaking thing too. So don't be too hard on me. So anyways I had a great birthday and a nice day on the water.
