The other five cylinders firing pretty much eliminate other ignition and fuel faults, don't they? and you've already done compression first thing. And don't worry about firing me, I wouldn't do engine work for anyone but myself and these days don't do much even for me. But, in cars, trucks, lawn mowers, chainsaws and tractors a bad spark plug has been the problem more often than any single other thing. Even had brand new plugs that didn't work and plugs that looked good that wouldn't fire. I'm not suggesting that the plug is always the fault. but I'd eliminate that before opting to replace the ECM.
-
So the plug would be the second thing as the ignition is totally dependent on it functioning? I'm not familiar with boat engines, but have some experience with other internal combustion engines and I don't think I ever saw a charging system failure cause a misfire. can't really wrap my head around that idea.

Tax write-offs don't come out of 'what is paid' for tax, but simply reduce the taxable income, so the tax savings is only a percentage of the write off. If one is in a 25% tax bracket any write off of $1000 would be a tax savings of only $250. And there are rules that only a tax expert would know differentiating advertising and sponsorship. I'm not that expert, but, I suspect that if you pay my tournament entry fee of $5000, that I might have to pay $3-400 taxes on that as personal income while you could only reduce your tax by $1500, or some such figures- it's not a dollar spent is a dollar saved situation. Lots of the tax write offs, like business lunches/dinners, are limited to 50% of actual expense too. I'm sure it works out as favorable to the sponsors based on their perceived advertising results or they wouldn't do it, but it's not a straight conversion to tax savings.

Follow the link I don't think snakes will bother you this month or next. I've been on the upper end a few times in midsummer and have yet to see a snake there. I believe the Snakes Of Crane Creek are a myth propagated to keep people like me from fishing there, spread by the Secret Hole Society and Me Only Angler's Association. I just went there anyway. Don't worry about them.

We will look forward to your report, those herp guys did 6 miles of the lower end in August, so we know it can be done and this time of year the water should be better depth than in August. They did mention not good for canoes, very technical, and log jams though.

nice clean fire not much smoke, gas line melt?

I'd rather knock on the landowner's door and get permission to park in his yard than risk not knowing where the vehicle got towed to, especially when hours away from home. If you want to do otherwise I won't stop you. But if you don't ask, I reckon you deserve to be towed. And I wasn't looking to float when I explored those roads. I guess I misinterpreted some of the early responses thinking they were based on the upper part of the creek and while I'd certainly agree that the blue ribbon area isn't float water, I'm kinda surprised that Spring Creek doesn't add enough water to improve that, but you have to believe those who have been there. Crane is far enough away and there is enough stream inside the public access that I'll probably never see all of that, so access in the lower reaches isn't of great concern to me. I would love to read your report though if any of you either hike or float it in the future. .

Still the sirens serve no purpose other than her training. If I can hear it, it means no tornado is near me and if it goes off and I can't hear it, it means I'm in the tornado. Both of which should be obvious even to a Fed.
-
that is my way of saying I've never been there because I had no incentive; if that scares you, I'm sorry. I had no intention of traumatizing anyone. Again I'm so sorry.
-
Every time she tests them she is teaching the public to ignore them. But since you know these things, how many seconds from the time I hear the siren blast until the tornado has hit me? Is the funnel a mile away from the warning site or five miles away? do you know that the funnel will stay active until it reaches the warned area or that it won't change direction? and what warning does the siren give to the people at the site of the funnel formation? The "warning" sirens are a waste of taxes and provide nothing but testing jobs.

What float guide is this? A Paddler’s Guide to Missouri (old and kinda sketchy info when new) map section for James River does indicate floatability of lower Crane Creek, it shows M 0.0 at Swinging Bridge Rd. down stream of Spring Creek confluence; M 2.1 just below CR AA-70-A; and M 6.0 at Otto Rd. off Mo. AA. However when looking on line I found no mile by mile description. All that is well below the Blue Ribbon Trout area that ends at Quail Spur Rd. and unknown to myself for that reason as well as because it's all private land with no apparent access. But I haven't explored past Doc Eaton Rd. I'm kinda surprised that the others have. However a web search finds https://rivers.moherp.org/river/?13 as giving evidence of past floats in parts of that 8 mile stretch. With dates, flow conditions and distances. If I were exploring that as an unknown stream, I might start near James River at whatever access that I could find or arrange with a landowner and canoe up from there with the expectations of floating back to my put in, then float down from the put in with the expectation to paddle back to the put in and explore the stream incrementally. I'm a bit leery of leaving my vehicle on strange county roads without landowner's prior okay, having seen several towed away on the creek near me. If you do float it, we will need a report on access, conditions, fish caught and all that, with pictures of any trophy fish. I've been curious how far down the creek trout can be caught.

As much food as they were all bringing I'm surprised it didn't take them longer. But I can pretty much eat all that I can hold in ten minutes, less if the fish are rising.
-
More than it sold for new, $50-100K maybe, are you buying or selling? I'd guess there aren't many of those left out there.
-
You a slow eater? or does that include a twenty minute nap? the rain forecast means I won't be there for sure. I'd fish in the rain if I was there but driving in it is more fun than I can stand. Did that already Thursday an hour each way to the VA and home, then it stopped as soon as I was in the house. Y'all have a good day.

They should be wired in series so that the gate can't open until the horn has power; or run off the same switch with a short delay between horn and gate. But I think the generators are remote controlled, I know years ago the USACE guy at Beaver told me that he had no idea when the guy in Tulsa was going to generate off schedule. So, if the remote control for that dam is in Little Rock or St Louis or ? the guy with the remote has no way to hear whether the horn sounds or not. From a grid management view it would be ideal for the generation to come on automatically when the grid load reaches a predetermined situation of use and distribution. The horn could be defective and the circuitry could showing a horn blow at wherever the remote is, and it is the Federal Government so no matter who you talk to will just pass the info on to someone who will pass it on to someone in DC who will eventually take it under advisement. 50 or more dead anglers and national news coverage might get the Administration's attention, less than that is just an accident and will be the anglers' fault for being there.

Phosphorus limitations are good and bad, too little P is the sole cause of the "rock snot" Didymo bloom.

Water Quality good or bad is on DNR. The people that control mining, sewage and Parks. Large scale (state wide) water testing is likely a Federal requirement for funding of one sort or another. MDC only has authority over the wildlife in the water, and any testing they do is just to determine what effect DNR's water has on the wildlife.

I see Coopers, Sharp=shinned and Red-tailed more often than the others, except in winter while driving the interstate. They all seem to perch near the road during migration periods and I once counted 27 hawks in 17 miles. Some I could identify and some I couldn't. They say ten species can be seen in Mo. and they don't all look alike nor are they all of similar size nor all make the same sounds. I have seen a couple that passed through that weren't supposed to be here too, so strays happen. https://www.birdadvisors.com/hawks-missouri/ https://birdwatchinghq.com/hawks-in-missouri/ And the best link I know of to find info on any bird - https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/#

haven't heard her on the radio in a long time, but Brand New Key was running though my head all last week. @ness you may as well play it, because it will be stuck there anyway. Having read this and thought about her, I'll be hearing What They've Done To My Song, Ma in my head. I don't recall if she ever wrote other tunes, but those two were catchy and got tons of airplay about the time I got out of the Navy, I could not have told you if she had a last name, so if some one had said "Melanie Safka" it would not even have registered.

No they wouldn't have and IMO are waste of tax $$$$ in addition to being an aggravating noise. If the tornado is real and it's there, then it's too late for the warning and if it's not there the warning is useless. Wind and water are both dangers that we need to look out for on own time and let our neck hair warn us. Governments at any any level have no control over nature's forces, the so called warnings are just a way to create dependency.
