  1. Something was deleted, so it must be possible.
  2. Wasn't that source book printed in 1965? even the revised version they are selling now is full of misinformation. but maybe the road has moved since then. I know the distances the book shows on local creeks isn't accurate. Presumably he is talking about the dam just below the park mentioned in the same sentence and the BR65 bridge of Jackson St only about 5-600' apart on the zoomable map.
  3. Water moccasin is hard to identify- they look exactly like 16 other species, or maybe that's 27 other species, but for sure if it's in or near water it is a moccasin- no other ID needed ...
  4. I thought Fall Creek was on the river's left? I didn't find it or Lilley's either the other day, that may be why.
  5. Some one should make up a poster chart with pictures of all these and notes of the main differences other than just pointing out that the color can vary. i rarely count the spines in a dorsal or pectoral fin but it would be nice to know that this species has 11 and the other look alike species has 9 or 14. I have caught a lot of sunfish over the years that didn't look like any of the common pictures.
  6. oneshot, most people have time and money to burn so why bother cleaning fish? You can buy them China fish at the food mart ready to cook. People feeding themselves is almost un-American. You need to learn fish torture- stab them with treble hooks, hang em in dry air while looking for the camera and take two minutes worth of pictures then "kindly and gently" return them to the water"unharmed" ; it's the American way of "Sportsmanship".
  7. I was there Friday on the way home from the great fly fishing expo in Branson and hooked several on soft hackles fished "dry". I've fished RRSP regularly since '85 and the fish are seem to be running smaller this year than in most years. All imported because of the extended hatchery remodel, I imagine that greater numbers of small fish can fit in the transport tank -equal numbers of trophy fish might make multiple trips necessary. But I always tell folks to try Bennett because it's so much better and the fish are so much bigger. Wind always blows at RR and the water is either too high or too low for good fishing. The camps there (RR) seem to be maxed out in recent weekends, so either people ain't listening to me or they come for the hiking.
  8. if I hated going boating I'd sell the boat. problem solved. It sure ain't no fun laying around in the shade if it's not warm out. Fishing sucks in spring when all the creeks are blown out. and the spawn extends into July. Just in the last five days has the water dropped enough to make fishing easier.
  9. Any one ever try a double fisherman's bend? aka grapevine
  10. Nice, neat knot. Can you do that by moon light or on the stream with cold wet hands? I'm gonna have to google that knot now and see what it is, video is so distracting...
  11. Bull doesn't seem to be dropping very fast, and flowing more water into Taneycomo would just be flowing more water into Bull Shoals, I'm not sure how that would help?
  12. Just was on that site; http://www.mdcnatureshop.com/product.php?productid=397&cat=0&bestseller=Y
  13. Didn't realize the entire post was an image, thought the comment was yours, sorry, but if there is such a listing I would like to see it.
  14. Not sure what that is meant to say? Can't a lessee enforce post leased property and trespassing laws? The previous lessee had many confrontations there, some involving the sheriff's office. Again fwiw, I wasn't there but was told that the land owner was down there a couple days ago telling people to leave; quite forcefully it was said. Legally that isn't a good place to put in or take out any way because of the County's declaration of a no parking zone on both sides extending to the next intersection, on one side about 50 yards but on the other a couple miles. Of course you can leave the vehicle running and block traffic while you "adjust your load" but that isn't really complying with the law, is it? Still waiting for that MDC list you claim? And while we're at it; Does MDC have any authority in deciding the classification of streams? If so, please link that too. ty
  15. Just for what it's worth I have been told all my life that creek was completely dry for long stretches about the time I was born, which might make it an intermittent stream. I was recently told that that had been testified to a court action. I have no personal knowledge of either event, so,...
  16. That spot has been posted for many years and has been the scene of some nasty confrontations, I encourage folks to take it through the courts. Most have just paid their fines. Where is this MDC listing of floatable streams?
  17. The key is "current interpretation by MDC protection staff " which indicates they can change that at any moment or at an agent's discretion., this then can be extended to all the Wildlife Code, thus meaning the Code is meaningless. It means that effectively that the protection division is lawless and the Commission is impotent.
  18. Wrench, it's a learning opportunity and proof that MDC deserves all the crap you throw at them from time to time, what? Obviously the protection Division is writing their own version of the rules without reference to the Code. I'm done. I don't fish Bennett any way.
  19. Good times while they last. They'll be middle aged before you know it.
  20. I keep reading the reg as only those things specified are soft plastic baits and elastic components are legal. Someone in MDC that can't read interpreted the reg to you and this guy is covering it.
  21. Yes , that is why laws should not be interpreted, they should be starkly plain. (and this one is actually, imo) I have requested a farther clarification using that situation as an example, I would hope that some one in the protection side can read or that they ask their legal counsel. He kept the last email a week so this may take a few days.

Can do either for Mo permits, WalMarts and some convenience stores sell them around here.
  23. Wow! I would have thought that the bugs and such would retreat as the water dropped.
  24. Foam stretches and rebounds, rubber silicone legs stretch and rebound so under this interpretation foam beetles, hoppers ants etc. are classed as soft plastic bait (unscented) and therefore legal in Zone 3. Can't work any other way, they either are soft plastic in Z3 or they are not soft plastic in Z1. Same is true for Squirmy Worms and all that variety of stuff. This also presents a problem with the "never had an agent ask to look at my fly" line of thought- he can see from 50' away if you are using a rubber leg hopper/ant.
