I had an older gentleman who has been at this many years, explain to me that when water is clear like this, there going to spawn a little deeper. From what I have experienced this year. I would have to believe him. Is it me, or is the water kind of clear for this time of year?

Yea redshad. I was one of those guys in the 70's and 80's that thought it was just the best. I still enjoy doing the texas rig. Just something I really have confidence in at certain times of the year. Just you talking about it brought back some neat memories.

I'm not particularly good at it. But I love fishing. Bass, crappie, walleye, it doesn't matter. But I take it for what it is. It's just fishing. It's not like we are trying to clip the balls off of a Bengal tiger with toenail clippers. Some of us take it far to seriously and are to easily offended. If you are able to enjoy this wonderful pastime, then just relax and enjoy it. Because someday, for whatever reason. You won't be able too. IMHO. Have wonderful life.

I went to Cedar Ridge last Tuesday and again today. Taking a sanity day here and there. I was gratefully surprised of how few boats had launched there. I know it's a week day, but lately even the weekdays have been crowded. Anyway. Had a good, not fantastic, but a good crappie day crappie day with a couple of keeper LM thrown in for fun. Water is so clear right now. Kind of surprised by that. Caught almost all the crappie in 8 to 12 fow. Just working various colors of jigs.

Congratulations Rodmaker. I myself am 60 and after 32 years on the RR I am 3 months and change from taking that step myself. My wife is happy for me but at the same time mildly irritated at the thought of me laying in bed while she gets ready for work. I reassured her I won't be laying in bed. My plan is to get up everyday and covertly follow quillback around until learn how to catch fish. I have the fishing part down pretty good. It's the catching part I'm struggling with. lol

it's not to hard. The easiest way to tell between the two, is to watch it's mouth. If it's constantly moving... it's a female...

I was thinking the same thing. He definitely has it going on. I am going to retire in a bout 5 months. I am hoping that time on the water will at least improve my fishing, and my catching a little bit. I was wondering if you are retired Quillback? I noticed you were quite a bit older than me and thought maybe you were. lol I look forward to when I have the time to make trips to Beaver. I have scuba dove the lake somewhat, but never have been able to fish there. Enjoy your post.

In 2015, I bought a 2012 boat with a 2012 115 OPTIMAX. So far so good. But I have to admit, after reading a few post, on a few forums, it has left me a little puckered. Nothing to do but enjoy the moment. -

You know on a 2nd thought I would have to agree with that. It has gotten kind of chaotic and fishing has become a lower priority.

I listen to BASS TALK LIVE... BTL. and Bass Edge's... THE EDGE. and IKE LIVE. All are on I tunes if you are using an iPhone. I like a lot of all three shows. Some of it I don't. But over all. It's good stuff. Like you, I'm tired of ugly news and corrupt politics.

Ok. Time for a little confession. I seem to have a problem with flouro on my spinning reels. I have tried winding in both directions (unless I lost track and wound it in the same direction). But I still have a problem with it wanting to jump off the reel. Maybe overloading the reel? or Still winding in the wrong direction. Could use some experienced comment on this. Thanks

I Know it's a bit old school. But I do as well. Of course there is not a lot of docks where I fish. If there was I would probably do braid. But so far. It works for me.
