  1. Awesome!
  2. πŸ˜… Only compliments were intended, @Ham . You absolutely have my respect and admiration! And it is well-earned! Every time I looked up, YOU were catching or releasing fish! πŸ‘ I did ok. You definitely finished really strong, while I was wasting (as it turned out) time trying to catch a Striped Shiner. I also lost time from having to re-rig with fresh tippet numerous times after losing to underwater snags and overhead trees. As for my counting ability... yeah, I wasn't counting. I took pictures of most of the fish, but there were some I didn't. I hoped I'd remember how many I didn't take a picture of...but... not so much. I try not to overstate what I caught, I'd rather go low on a guess than high. I think what I told you my total was is probably pretty accurate. 22 to your 29. I'm happy with what I caught. Really enjoyable day of fishing! While standing next to each other, we double up numerous times, which was pretty cool! @Johnsfolly I've caught Brown Trout from a few places in AR....and in Iowa, of course, and Wisconsin, and maybe even Illinois. I don't recall getting one in MO yet. I'm just not spending much time where they are, I think.
  3. As always, it was great to see @Ham, and witness true fishing wizardry. Skill, sure...but it always seems like MUCH more than that! I keep forgetting to have him autograph my waders. 🌞 Last year we went during the week. So, more people there this time. Some spots were really crowded, others oddly weren't. Also last year, the temps never got above freezing. This year...I think it actually hit in the low 50's! Very nice! I caught Ozark Sculpins, Rainbow Trout, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and Green Sunfish. Biggest trout was a nice, aggressive, 16-incher. I had hoped to get a Striped Shiner, but didn't manage to get one this time.
  4. Good for you! πŸ‘
  5. I hope you reach all these goals! I've caught all but 2 of those (tarpon and pompano)...but only 4 on fly. I hope you can figure out those Flathead and share what you learn! 😍
  6. Sell the cabin. Sell the house (or go live in it). Use part of the proceeds to rent wherever you want to go, and whenever you want to go. Choose places that will allow dogs.
  7. So the rumor that "your first one is always free" isn't true? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  8. Nice! Such a cool fish! I've seen them in the Des Moines River in Iowa, but never caught one. Here's the Iowa record:
  9. Beauties! 😍
  10. Looks legit. Kids always seem to produce more than their share of waste. Soda cans, coffee tin, keurig cup, milk or juice container... Lots of beverage items. A glass of tap water doesn't produce any waste. 😜 Is recycling a thing in your area?

  12. Here in the Lou, thin layer of snow down in the grass. Bit of snow on driveway, and ice on cars parked outside. Supposed to hit 34 today, 46 tomorrow.
  13. Maybe this will offer some clues...
  14. "Spikes" is what we called fly maggots for icefishing. At first I thought you were telling him to just eat fishing bait. πŸ˜…
  15. Such cool fish! I like that they can eat a pretty big fly. Drag. Peelers.
  16. Ha! Great graphic! πŸ˜„
  17. Nothing to see here.
  18. Saint Louis: The Weather Channel says we got 4", with snow continuing until around 1pm today, with less than 1 additional inch of accumulation. Not sure about the 4"... We have snow on the ground, but grass is poking up through it in many places. I'd guess less than 3" of snow locally.
  19. That's my opinion on trout, too. At least whenever I've tried to cook the stocker trout I've caught. But I've been very pleased with almost every trout I've eaten that was prepared by a restaurant. Sooo, is it me? Or is is the fresh-from-the-hatchery stocker trout? I'd feel guilty killing a wild trout. This is a hypothetical list of fish that SHOULD be eaten (by others). 😁 1. Silver Carp 2. Bighead Carp 3. Stocker Rainbow Trout 4. Bullhead 5. Tilapia 6. Orange Roughy 7. Patagonian Toothfish Chilean Sea Bass 8. Common Carp 9. White Bass I couldn't decide on a #10 to finish out this list. For PERSONAL consumption, I would rank fish like this: 1. Walleye 2. Crappie 3. Northern Pike 4. Sushi (Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, & White Tuna) 5. Cobia 6. Mahi Mahi 7. Bluegill 8. Whatever they serve at Long John Silver's πŸ˜… 9. Restaurant Trout 10. Snapper
  20. Maybe its about legal culpability? If folks DO start dropping from eating contaminated wild animals, and their families try to sue the govt and chemical manufacturers...the govt/mfrs can show they warned people, but the people didn't follow their advice. If they knew but said nothing.... that would be bad. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Just a thought.
