  1. Well that is the damnedest thing. This stuff is why I struggle with technology. Lol!
  2. I'd love to try one. I figure I'm 3 for 3 on rodents I've eaten & enjoyed immensely- squirrel, nutria & beaver, so why not? Little old lady in town asked me to pop one that was burrowing under the garage of one of her rental properties. She asked if I was gonna eat it & said that if not, she knew folks that'd want it. Never did shoot it for her, as it just quit coming back one day. Oh well. I've seen one groundhog on the property here multiple times, usually hauling tail across the pasture, but no signs of digging.
  3. Huh. I can't even figure it out on my Chromebook. None of the options YT gives me for sharing, ie. embed code, URL, or whatever. Emailing the video to myself only gives me a link, which brings me right back to square one.
  4. Market's gonna do what the market's gonna do. I've been reading the writing on the walls for years & bought what I could, when I could in anticipation of an economic or societal collapse. For the procrastinators or those new to shooting, I feel bad for ya, but ant vs. grasshopper & all that.
  5. How are y'all getting the videos to display, vs. a hyperlink?
  6. Overtons in Clinton has 125gr & 170gr .30-30 for $27/box. I've still got 5 boxes of Rem 150gr Core Lokts & kicking myself for not buying ten times that much, back when I bought it at $15/box. I've been stacking powder, primers, brass, projectiles & ammo since Sandy Hook. Even have dies & components for calibers I shoot & have ammo stocked up for, but don't yet reload. Not stacked quite as deeply as I would like, but not too shabby. We've got to get our food preps tightened up next, specifically planting fruit trees & getting a garden in.
  7. This lovely & talented young lady is a KC girl- https://youtu.be/C8mTTneBsv4 https://youtu.be/p_OB4PBt5xI
  8. I'm a classic rock, hard rock & blues kinda guy for the most part, but have very eclectic tastes. Heavy metal, outlaw country, roots rock, rockabilly, you name it. I get tired of the same old & am always on the lookout for new music.
  9. Only seen a couple turkeys here this year, but after a year & a half here, I have no idea what's normal. No rabbits this year & almost no squirrels despite our little 5.5 acre patch being covered up in oak & hickory. We have seen a lot more hawks this year though, so that's not a big surprise. We have an armadillo that seems to stick to the creek area at the back of the property. If I see it in the backyard again, we'll find out just how hard a warmed up .41 Magnum will roll one.
  10. I like these sisters a bunch as well. https://youtu.be/cEWiJR9qeoc
  11. I know. Vile, filthy creatures. Looks like dude has a good time at it. Rockchucks & some kinda weird bird, too. Think he went to a firearm for the baboons, but not positive.
  12. Never fear, I didn't go completely Euro trash weirdo in my almost 9 years over there. This one always puts me in mind of drinkin' likker from an old fruit jar. https://youtu.be/GiE-7wMKQPc
  13. I've been digging this band out of Italy a lot lately- https://youtu.be/QN1odfjtMoo
  14. I'm surprised at how much I enjoy the 25hp Evinrude on my tiny little boat. Nice running little motor.
  15. You gonna zap that 'yote when he comes in to the bait? I'd really like to look into a high powered air rifle. There's a South African guy on YouTube that does extermination/depredation for SA ranchers primarily with air rifles. Forgot what exactly he uses, but it was knocking down monkeys with authority.
  16. Happens with AirBnB, too. We booked a place several months in advance for the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in '20. Guess the owner must've forgotten about the festival & came back at us a month later wanting twice as much money. Yeah, no.
  17. Love it! No idea whether it's functional, but I bet it's fun. Sure would suck to nose it in on a water landing, though.
  18. My impeccable timing continues unabated. Missus & I rode up to Fairfield today, but no bueno. Had hoped to go up the Little Pommy some & the west side of Indian Island, but it was really windy & water way too rough. Backed the boat in & floated it & it was bouncing around & splashing water over the transom. Yeah, nope. My little boat rides way too low for that kinda water & my carcass all the way aft would not have helped that situation at all. 6 or 7 rigs in the parking lot when we put in around 1:30, so I'm guessing it was worthwhile to be on the water, but judging by the size of the trailers, they were in much bigger boats than mine. Could've just lit a $20 bill on fire & saved myself an hour & a half's worth of aggravation. Told the wife on the way home that with what we paid for the boat, every fish we've caught in it has cost us about $1000 apiece so far.
  19. Everharts in Clinton had a decent bit of .30-30, but $28/box. I'd have ponied up for a box or 2, but they only had 125gr & 170gr & I prefer (& have some laid back) 150gr.
  20. .30-30's a solid choice on deer inside 200 yds, further if you can account for its rainbow trajectory. Ammo's gotten crazy expensive lately, but the Marlin .30-30s are nice shooting guns. Only pic I have of mine- Ever think about a Ruger Single Ten? One of my favorite single actions & never misses a range trip. Here with its trusty '59 Marlin 39A sidekick-
  21. Yum. I haven't eaten tree rat since I was a kid. We've got about an acre & a half of oak & hickory on our place, which butts up to 30+ acres of nice timber (that I have sole right to hunt). Been too busy since moving in to hunt, but would like to bag a couple squirrels. Had a big fox squirrel & several smaller greys running around last year, but we've had a couple big Broad-Winged hawks actively hunting the place & the rare squirrel I see is moving like his tail's on fire & his butt is catching. As a kid in KS, we usually hunted them with shotguns in late fall & winter & I've got a nice little 20ga break action just for squirrels & such. Might go tramp the woods once the cold sets in & the ticks are gone. I've had a hankerin' to take up handgun hunting & may try zapping some off the back deck with one of several .22s.
  22. Not well, actually. Been on Pomme a half dozen times this summer & Truman (Fairfield) twice that & have caught exactly 3 fish. Weather, timing, stupidity, I dunno, but I've been beating the water & burning gas with nothing to show for it. Nobody I was with, nor anyone we spoke to, was catching either, but darned if that makes it any less frustrating. Not like I'm chasing trophies or limits or even species. Just wanna catch supper once in a while & can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I look at maps & charts, try to read up on what the fish are wanting & where, what baits, etc. & bupkus. I'm trying to be positive & upbeat, but I gotta tell you, it's kinda starting to not be fun anymore. I had better luck on LOZ back in May, cutting up & day drinking with my aunt & pitching jigs off her dock. In fact, I caught more than twice as many fish that one day than I have since.
  23. No worries on that front. Not a fan of buying used big ticket electronic stuff, especially stuff I don't completely know/understand yet.
  24. Thanks, guys. Looks like the MK PowerDrive is what I'm looking for & maybe upgrade it with i-Pilot down the road. The MG Xi3 looks great, but all the recent reviews on Basspro are very bad. Anyone know different? I'd thought the PowerDrive would be the simplest solution, but hadn't realized the cord was so long.
  25. I've got a little 15' Lowe mod-V with a cheapo 30lb MK transom mount trolling motor. Stupid thing's in the way & gutless & I'd really like to have both hands free to fish. Not much room to be playing musical chairs & I just don't see myself fishing from the front. Is there a decent bow mount trolling motor I can control from the stern, or one convertible to transom mount? Motor Guide made a transom mount, foot pedal TM, that has been discontinued. I'm looking at something like a MK Powerdrive or MG X3. What say ye? Can a Powerdrive or X3 be converted to transom mount? Could the Powerdrive's cable be extended for backseat driving? Can the Motor Guide Bulldog still be found? I found a couple websites claiming it was in stock, but were companies/sites I know nothing about. A Powerdrive with iPilot or Xi3 would be lovely, but a little out of my price range.
