  1. There are catfish every several hundred yards on average on the James. They are very easy to catch, just find a seam between fast and slow water and they should be there. That's what me and my boys do after the white bass return to the lake. Minnows, Crawdads, And the best is Leopard Frogs. We catch tons of catfish this way, but rarely anything over 5lbs. Good luck.
  2. Not me, hardly anybody ever wants to talk to me, lol.
  3. Well aren't you special. I've been here 4 months longer and I don't get to be a Lifetime Member. Lol. Congrats. And I still have a goofy name, lol.
  4. Yep, too many electronics. They don't have the desire to do anything anymore. My oldest is really getting bad on it and he used to keep an eye on me like a hawk in case I was going somewhere so he didn't get left behind. Now he plays on his electronics at school, then after getting off the bus. It's a sad state for these younger generations.
  5. I don't snag, but have been around it a lot in the past. I would say they are at least half way up the James, maybe farther. The deep hole above Shelvin Rock CA would almost positively have them, especially after this rain last night.
  6. I was down there this evening. Ended up finding a crappie hole and getting 10keepers and about twice that many shorts. Had a couple whites, but after finding the crappie spot, I stuck with it till dark. Lots of people with stringers of whitebass.
  7. Uh Yeah! I don't know where he was, but I was down there last night and only had 3. I was below Blunk ramp, but I think I should have went up to Taylor Shoals.
  8. I wish it said how long it was.
  9. Still about a week out and then we need 70's and a rain. I will be every day for weeks after that, lol.
  10. If you'd have done the Onecast report tomorrow, you could have put on a spoonbill rig for April Fools!
  11. Thanks for the report. I'd say depending on water clarity that the mouth about dark could be good or possibly up past the old dam area on Swan might be better.
  12. I can't wait to see your "One Cast" video with this current, lol.
  13. Well I'd say you're in luck. There is catfish all over the state where ever you go.
  14. Anywhere on the James River down by Galena right now could be good. I've seen lots of people in the past snagging right at the Conservation Area at the Hwy bridge in the past. Just below the boat ramp is a spot to try. Lots of places off the bank in the Galena area to go.
  15. From my experience of the area, It will make you less of a fishermen because the fishing always seems real easy up there. It is one of best fishing areas in the whole country.

    Spoonies

I would bet they're half way or more to Springfield Dam.
  17. I was with a friend about 5 years ago fishing by the Forsyth Park and we snagged a big spoonbill while trolling. We looked into it and you are not allowed to keep them from what info we could find. Neat to see there is more in there.
  18. Hey that's my van behind you. We were in the canoe.
  19. Me and my son went down this evening. I blew my boat motor about a week ago, so now I'm without a boat for the forseeable future, prob a year or two. Anyway. We paddled all the way up into the river channel of Flat Creek and never got a bite, only saw a few boats up there. 2 people motored all the way up there and saw nobody else, so they just turned and left without fishing, lol. I guess they were trying to find a crowd. We took out and went down to Point 15 about 715ish and fished for 30 minutes. We caught 2 nice keeper crappie with a few short fish mixed in. We found them right off the steep bank along trees in the water. I can't wait to go back now. I'm sitting here eating what I caught 1 1/2 hrs ago and they are delicious.
  20. I knew what you meant, but couldn't resist. haha
  21. Jump the dam? I don't see that happening, but maybe I'm wrong. It's pretty rare that they make it up that far during season and the waters gotta be high for them to make it. There's some good holes maybe half way down that would hold some right now, but most will still be back down by Galena.
  22. Them suckers look like they're just perfect eating size. Congrats. I'd rather throw the 3 pounders back and have a stringer of those.
  23. 1 reason might be for population control for mother nature. We've just been able to fight it off, but without medicines a lot of people would die from bugs.
  24. That's what I was afraid of. I was thinking after Bull Creek clears up, the Powersite will shortly after. Maybe tomorrow? Thanks for the tip.
  25. Does anyone have any recent info on how clear or dirty the water is below the dam? As recently as today or yesterday evening? I wanna go tonight, but don't wanna waste the trip if it's still dirty.
