  1. My old town pack is in the 30# range, but the seat is low, afraid higher will become wetter..... right now would be a stable icefishing platform on my pond
  2. These guys, Craig Phillips and Captian Sodie fish for IGFA world line records. Notice he uses Ande line as it has the most accurate label in test strength. I have messed with it a bit, can build a heavy butt to turnover a sculptin or something heavy. Have also used some of that Bass pro saltwater line in yellow for the butt to make a strike indicator..... seems to be a lot of work for a $3 leader, but it does give you the ability to customize.
  3. The Sage FLI is off the table, Loomis still there. g
  4. If you fish fellows lake will need a permit from CU
  5. I have a few too many 8 wt. Have a like new Sage FLi 890-4 8wt would let go for $200, have a G.Loomis PESCADO 9' 8wt very light use would sell for $100 (need a new fish finder for the crappie rig) can send pics if interested. g
  6. My frugal nature was overcome by the Bass Pro $210 for a GPS capable Eagle 480. I have been told that I need to add navionics maps to make it more useful. One guy told me I do not want the platinum in this inexpensive unit. It appears you can buy Hotmaps for about $100 or Hotmaps Prem. for $150. I primarly use it for crappie fishing on Pommde, Stockton, Truman, LOZ, Table ROck, Bull Shoals, Norfork, Beaver, Mark Twain, Greers Ferry, Reelfoot. Do not know what I need. Suggestions ideas, are there used ones from guys who upgrade around? Then guess I need a SD card and reader to download fish attractors from the MDC site? Any help appreciated g
  7. Seen the Eagle Fisheilte 480 with GPS on sale at Bass Pro for $210 wondering if anyone had one and what they thought about them. Looks like a inexpensive unit with good features.
  8. Ted I run much slower at my age, I know what you are saying on the big rocks, every year some folks drown on those in the White, shoves the bow up and stern down, 50 degree water and you might drown. You have to be able to stomach the shreds of fiberglass when you do hit a rock, for some reason a little paint off the alum does not bother me like it does on the fiberglass. But I have to remeber it is a river boat and that is what it is built for. If you drop or hit something with the alum it does seem to put the fish down for a bit longer. The glass is heavier so dragging a shoal can be worse. Someone mentioned the Gluv-it I plan on giving it a try. The best boat is the one you can use the most.
  9. Ted First let me quaify my answer as not a jerk. Currently, I run a 87 20' Champion DC bassboat w/200merc, a 21' Champion White River Jon w20Jet Merc, 20' 36"wide Tracker river jon 9.9 merc, 16'lowe big jon 5mariner, 17'lowe paddle jon 4mariner and 3 canoes. Would you play golf with one club?, Fish with one rod? That said, the rocks on the river are less forgiving on fiberglass than alum. but glass slides over the rocks better, alum. hangs. The 2048 is a world more comfortable to fish out of.... I can attest there is not a perfect boat. Man I would like to add a drifter, power drifter and deck boat for crappie.... not enough $$ probably need counseling. Some guys chase women, I buy boats. Thank God my wife likes to fish. g
  10. Try Wilcox Automotive, just south of Nixa on Main. Wayne has been as the same location for 35 years must be doing something right. 417 725 3490
  11. A Bad day fishing is better than a good day working! Gigging and bowfishing are listed as fishing in the wildlife code...... getting me a pine tar tourch and a dug out canone..... it might work. I own canoes and jet boat.... each are a tool, I would not throw a caddis on my baitcaster.... wouldnt throw a rouge on my fly rod....
  12. Dutch Jack has a meeting witih SRC tomorrow, at least it gives him some hope. Thanks G
  13. Got the baits in the mail yesterday, great quality, can not wait to try them
  14. My 26 year old son is looking for work. He has cerebral palsy, that affects him some mentally and physically. While he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he usually makes better decisions than my younger son who is in college. He drives, does basic math and reads some. Physically, he has some weakness in his left arm and leg, and is a little slow. He worked for Wal-mart for 6 years, pushing carts and carrying out heavy items; all was fine until the slow economy allowed them to hire someone faster for less money, then he was too slow and talked to customers too much. He is not fast enough to bus tables or do production janitor work, but he is dependable and steady. Voc Rehab is working with him, and will work to train and coach him to learn a job. They tell us he can qualify for social security disability, but he would wants to work.
  15. I could not get it to play, the others played fine. Thanks
  16. I will send you a PM
  17. We have a disco 158, 169 and a pack. The 169 is the best tandem boat, the 158 does a great job solo when hauling a camp (I take too much crap, but comfortable)The pack is great for fishing and day trips, but with less than 200 miles under it, it looks more abused than either of the old discos that are 10-15 years old and have logged over 1000 miles each. If had to own only one, 158 wins.
  18. I will try to make it, but will depend on what time the Missouri-Colorado Game is on 10/9 if I can make it or not.
  19. Well we just as well light the fire, How about gigging, no lead needed..... then we have ma bell... and Dupont spinners.... oh man Redneck Fishin is good.
  20. I have a 96 that I have been running for several years. As Bomberman said the compartments leak. I keep mine in the shed plus have a tarp. I do not leave anything that would ruin in the compartments when out, and carry a large sponge to get the water out. It is an excellent boat to fish out of. Everyone I have talked with who has sold theirs wishes they had it back. I did price mine with a 20 merc jet for 4500 last spring as I have too many boats (6) my wife was relived when the guy did not buy as the Champion is her favorite. Not sure where you live but if you do buy you will want to take a copy of the bill of sale to your county assessors office as they will try to asses you on a campion bass boat as the river jon is not listed. If you do not buy let me know I know a guy looking for one if the price is right. g
  21. Sorry, sold long ago, Campbell Ford & RV in Ozark MO bought it from me. g
  22. Unfortunately there is not one boat that is perfect for the various applications you would like. I currently have 5 boats and 3 canoes of various sizes for different applications. If I were limited to only one boat it would be my 20ft. river jon. With the 9.9 I can run taney, white, buffalo and crooked creek and I have used it on Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Northfork to fish. That said the one Bomberman has listed for 2750 is pretty close to your price target. Best of luck, tight lines g
  23. Darn Brad I need a lesson, we only had 15 keepers in two days of fishing. We had planned on coming to the weigh in but I had it in my head it was at 3 instead of 2 so looked wrapped up when we drove by a little after 3. Was wanting to hear reports. We caught lots of shorts but very few keeper. Most came about 20 ft in brush .Maybe we can make it up the next time. g
  24. plan on camping Thursday evening until Monday hope to find a crappie or two will let everyone know. g
  25. Right now Ponnca to Pruitt would be a drag water is too low or I would be on it rather than this computer. The strech from Carver to Woollum has some extremely long holes. Anywhere from 65 bridge down is usually floatable. If you are committed to 2 or more days the run from Rush to the White is excellent fewer folks but no take outs, with current generation on white would have to float down to Shedds bridge or North Fork to take out. check http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/state-summary/state/AR/ as they keep current on water levels
