  1. Quillback, do you have a estimated head count for Friday night? We will need to see if Phil and Bill will stay for supper? Sure I have enough Suckers, will check what else is in the freezer. I will bring cookers, taters, my tater machine, fish, hush puppies....
  2. Brett, we will be praying for you all. I can bring my inferior cooker, and some inferior suckers to fry if the group would like? Man I wish I was not so frugal and could buy a cooker like yours.
  3. Appetizers: Cowboy caviar, sausage stuffed mushrooms, Thursday, Caesar salad, materials for deer Kabobs (if needed) a dessert and taters if needed.to go with Phil's chicken Friday: Hush-puppies, Taters (if needed), fish, fish cooker oil onions dessert of some sort Saturday: Deer kabobs if not used Thursday, Pot of Chili and hot dogs to go with Rick's Brats, Taters if needed, a dessert I will throw in anything else needed,
  4. What size is the boat?
  5. I will bring the hush puppies, for Friday. Can do some more taters any night. Will bring the sausage stuffed mushrooms. Anything else I need too. g
  6. Several of us get together and share a cabin at Riley Station jig fish for trout (snagged in outlet 3 fly fishes but does some jig and is a good jig fisherman) usually smoke something ( deer duck boar chicken) fry some fish just a pleasant outing in winter. Nice to meet guys on forum
  7. Thanks, I am trying to learn this walleye deal.
  8. I plan on being there Thursday before noon, have to leave Sunday morning. Will bring my boat two open seats.
  9. plus i put one in every boat box and truck
  10. Cody, let me know, will take one of the seats out of the boat in case you decide to bust a move...... g
  11. The silly green fish have been wearing me out in the edge of pockets in pole timber. They seem to prefer black/chartreuse crappie magnet on a road runner head. Think 10 bass to 1 crappie. Afraid to throw a Ned or hula Several 15-16"
  12. No worries either way for me only obligation is a dr apt 12/7
  13. I am blessed to own both, on my 20 42 river boat. I run the 25 merc jet 98% of the time. My 9.9 long shaft will fit on the jet transom so just quick change. In the fall with lots of leaves, in grass or lots of trash, the prop is hands down better as not cleaning constantly. In normal water the jet will go better. As Gary Flippin told me, "it's a lot like the difference in 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel drive for your truck, you can go most places if you are careful, but you can just go with a jet." The 9.9 makes me legal on the buffalo when I choose to motor up. As Ham states unlike a prop where the motor acts as a tiller, unless the jet is powering you have NO steering, instead of just gliding on the trailer you go under power. Running a river coming around a bend full of trash can make things interesting when you are wide open and no longer have steering, fortunately after about 3 complete spins the boat stopped before hitting anything, lesson learned.... If I had to go to just one motor, the jet wins. g
  14. Boy I really want to do this but am committed to helping some young people deer hunt. If we get tagged out might be able to slip in at the last minute.
  15. well if for some reason you can not would you consider sending some flathead and your fish cooker on their own.... Hope you can make it. I'm shooting for Thursday as well
  16. Bob? Really, after what he did to you last time!!!!! LOL
  17. Good Lord Willing and the creek don't rise much more I will be there. g
  18. Normally not a issue, BUT, it can sock in with fog, and that is spooky in a boat let alone a canoe or kayak. If you are leaving a rig I would either make arrangements with Miles at Riley Station or float on down to the confluence at Norfork. Shipps is a bit lonely.... g
  19. That is SUPER my friend!
  20. Well Pete, Ham is becoming a workaholic, think he only fished 4 days this week, worked 3. I did manage 5 but, it is football season had to hang in today but tomorrow????. I think the 15 will be fine, if they are running 6 large it can be Very slow. the 54 wide can help it get up higher on plane. Going slow saves boat damage. The only time I have been in a tight is big flow, a 1636 will 3 guys, a 5 hp and heavy fog, seemed like it was going to get dark before we made State Park from Cane Island. Ham and I run 25/20 merc jets two stroke on 2042 boats. If I were to change it would be a 2048 with a 40/25 Tohatsu jet....... or maybe a 1848 alweld with same motor. But the 15 is will work, if we are running shallow water we take trolling motors off. I do have a 9.9 prop for going up Buffalo and CC, and use it when there is lots of trash/leaves in the water, it works fine and would guess your 1654 would draft and weigh similar to my 2042 glass. My 2 cents. If I were buying new I would go rent a 15 to see.... could end up with 7 outboards 4 boats in shed like me.... g
  21. Terrierman has a Shawnee 20-48 that he put a false floor in with textured paint, very stable, and easy to move around in with the flat floor. He has had knee work and does great in it. g
  22. Jealous, should be super, enjoy.
  23. you are correct Al, I am very careful and use the extra strips from my zrust boxes. But of little value when a fellow forum member sits on my boat sending my open box in creek. I have a tray I put wet baits in too dry. Enroute to pick up a new to me royalex wenonah wilderness. Everyone needs 4 canoes and 4 boats. Thanks for your help. G
  24. I took off Al's design, but use the Plano Guide Series 3740 waterproof boxes (because I forget to hook the holding cord more often than not) to hold I use a square bucket that sunflower seeds or cat litter come in, with a bungee cord hooked on velcro rather than the battery box. Just FYI with Al's battery box the Plano waterproof 3640 fits perfect. I have rusted too many baits and love the waterproof Plano. They are less expensive at Academy or on Amazon and pay for themselves. (yes Ham makes fun of my "redneck tackle bucket")
