You are killing me. I have been cursed all summer. Today I jigged roll offs in 28 to 30 fow. The only walleye was the size of a good cigar.

Quill has fished with me and can vouch for the fact I wear my pfd at all times. That makes it difficult to attach the kill switch. Instead, I put a loop in it and slide my wrist in. BTW, like the others, I am glad you are here to write your post!

I was on the water at 5:30 this morning. Not much of a top water bite for me. I worked hard to catch three. Happily one was around three pounds and wanted to jump. Later I started jigging a white War Eagle spoon. I caught a bluegill, a cigar sized walleye, and then I got hit by a freight train. A two pound white bass was determined to take my spoon away from me. After I grew tired of jigging I trolled deep for walleye. All I accomplished was burning gas. By 11:30 I was too hot and quit.

The meds my doctor put me on have adversely affected my balance. It was already worse than when I was young, and went farther south on me. I love my Lund Rebel XS Sport 1650, but several times during this summer I have disliked the feeling I might fall in. Since I do not intend to quit fishing, the wife and I have discussed alternatives. Oddly, she does not favor 21 foot Basscat or Phoenix boats. I think it is something about the 70k+ cost. One option to increase stability and allow me to fish until I dodder into the final drink is a pontoon boat. I am interested in hearing from current or former serious fishermen who have fished from pontoons. Pros, cons? Avoid, seek? Brands, features? Surely some of you can inform me. Thanks in advance. rps

I fished from an Alumacraft 1650 Navigator tiller with a 75hp evinrude for 6 years and loved it. I only sold it because my wife insisted I get a steering wheel boat. You would love one of theirs. -
Has anyone noticed that the colors of pictures on posts is duller than the picture on your computer?

Since the cantaloupe was ripe and tasty, I did not mess with it. I added a bit of cucumber for texture and basil because we have too much in our deck pots, plus salt and cracked pepper.

Did not post Saturday night's meal. Bacon, basil, and fresh corn pasta with a cheesy cream sauce. I am about to put a skirt steak on the grill to sear and served with mushy herbed small potatoes and a cantaloupe salad. Pictures later.

I have noticed over the last several days that the lake does tend to empty sometime between 5 and 6. I just wish it weren't so dang hot at that time.

Went out early this morning under the impression the drunks, the don't know how to drive a boat crowd, and the look at my expensive boat that does nothing narcissists had gone home. I was wrong. The first wake boat of the day went by me shortly after 6 AM. By 8 AM it was sit in the boat or fall out. There was no top water bite this morning. I went to the jigging spoon and to swimming a keitech. I caught one walleye, one white bass, and six bass before a ocean liner out of Big M tried to swamp me. None of what I caught was picture worthy. I had the boat on the lift before 11.

My good Lord, how can I teach my students to learn to write like this. 2. Across the street from us, a home on the bluff of the lake burned down about 18 months ago. I just walked over to that slab to watch the fireworks. Two wonderful and mellow aged hippies were already there. As we watched, we discussed the fireworks, their reason, and what life has been like in pyrotechnic terms. The light show was fantastic! Mellow people are even better!

Well done RM! I have not yet taught myself sap weights or planer boards. I'm thinking I may have to do that.

You are right. The WW bite usually is the best in March and early April. This year, that was about four days.

Stick with the Yo Zuri Hybrid 8 or 10 pound test for line. For cranking, the only other alternative, IMHO, would be Maxima. For rods, I build from Mudhole MHX blanks, but the other good alternative would be to wait for Bill Babler's annual Falcon sale where he sells what he has used with his customers for the last year. PM him to ask what and when he might have available. When I want a repaint, I use Tim Hughes. No one can compete with him for TR baits. As wrench says, the WW bite is brief, 2 to 4 weeks, but many of us consider it the best style/pattern/period of the year.
