  1. All of the above.
  2. Great area of the lake! Numerous good spots right at the marker you mention.
  3. I love my MGX! Funny thing though.I use it for my topwater presentations. Says a lot about versatility.
  4. Jerry - I did not mean to insult or belittle anyone. I was only pointing out that so many different standards apply that there really isn't a "right" answer. What you would do sounds good to me.
  5. Great moral question! Do you keep a spawning record or release it after a picture that others will scoff at?
  6. I do not know how long you have been cruising or skulking the board, but trust me, if F&F and QB give you info, put it in the bank.
  7. The record will probably come one of the smaller lakes that hold smallmouth. For Arkansas, that would be something down in the Ouachitas. For Missouri, that would be where? See this link for an Oklahoma example. http://www.wired2fish.com/state-record-smallmouth-bass-caught-in-oklahoma-p15018
  8. Hello Keith. I once fished for salmon on a salt water guide boat where the Columbia flows into the ocean. Good fun. I am out at Holiday Island and fish from Spring to Fall at Table Rock. Feel free to PM for information.
  9. Bill, Solid advice and good save!
  10. MCTATAGN!
  11. Thank you for the information!
  12. Thank you for your best wished QB. Back at you. Merry Christmas to all!
  13. The downturn (I will NOT go into who caused what) affects everyone differently. For me, I deal with high gas prices and low interest, limited raises, and not much else. My daughter - a designer tied to home building - got let go and and has been scrambling. Do I like the fact that my "entitlement" to SS Medicare/Medicaid keeps getting farther away every time there is a "negotiation?" No. Because I am comparatively healthy and working, does it really affect me? No. On the other hand I see people far less fortunate than I, and I wonder: Is their suffering really worth the the fact that those making more than 250,000 dollars net income per year pay an incremental tax rate lower than my own?
  14. I really enjoyed this report!
  15. For bass, jigs with trailers, tubes, slow roll spinnerbaits, and suspending jerk baits. For walleye and crappie, jigging raps to vertical fish under the shad balls in the channels of creek arms.
  16. I think the 8 pounds plus fish are the ones that start out a bit different. The true perfect ambush artists. I think that explains why so many of the great fish are caught on jerk baits and jigs and top waters. They have learned to hide and wait. Even if I am wrong, it sounds good, doesn't it?
  17. Yozuri makes an inexpensive product I find superior to Maxima and any FC. Their Hybrid line is a copolymer extruded with a FC coating. The coating stops UV deterioration and waterlogging. The copolymer base means it ties great knots. It is neutral versus water -> does not sink, does not float. It is a bit stiffer than Maxima, but it does not stretch as much as Maxima. A good second choice made the same way is Lake Fork.
  18. A couple years ago I had Hughes paint some lures for me. I highly recommend him if you are going to spend the money. I have given a couple away as gifts. The remainder, except for the one tied on and a spare in the boat, stay hung in my room.
  19. In the last few years, this board has mentioned 1 or 2 legitimate 10 pound fish. Of course we are only just now reaching enough time passage since the virus for there to be a year class of Northern strain capable of that weight.
  20. The spoon was very kind to me this year.
  21. willcfish is a pain. The links are all catfish and elementary.
  22. I have caught them on twin spins, too, Al. A spinnerbait trolled slowly on leadcore has been a hot technique in timber for over a year now on the tournamrent trail. I have yet to make it work, but last year was an odd year for "suspending" fish.
  23. I LIKE stories like this!
  24. This is rather Zen, but ... about the time your subconscious says, "Why don't you try this?", you have reached true understanding. Of course you are still 20 minutes too late to take advantage. Of course I wonder about those who who are on the pattern before it begins. Those people scare me.
  25. I did the linecounter routine. I found Sealines the best value. However, I have gone a different direction. I now use 10# Power Pro Depthunter on a small regular levelwind reel. The line has four colors per 100 feet and the diameter of 2#.
