  1. Today Mr. 11 thumbs (me) installed a new 60AH Lithium Ion deep discharge battery in my boat and connected the electronics and its own charger to it. The starting battery now has only two connections, one to start the engine and one to recharge. The accessories will go on the battery with the sonars.
  2. Wrong forum. Reposted.
  3. But the last several years, they have dumped Bull Shoals before they dump TR. And that takes long enough to not aversely affect even BS.
  4. At least its going up during the spawn and not dropping. The ones that have yet to spawn will be able to locate in water closer to cover.

    What's Cooking?

    Soup and salad tonight.
  6. I loved fishing walleye on Table Rock. I wish I still lived there. However, if I lived where you do, I would hire Bill Babler or Buster Loving to guide you in the K Dock area. While in the boat, pick their brains, not only on places to fish, but also on where, when, and what water levels you can or should put in. A few hundred dollars will save you years in learning local knowledge.

    What's Cooking?

    Chicken Tikka Masla tonight.
  8. The Daiwa is in hand. I loaded it with 6# Yozuri. So far, I am impressed. The first day the wind isn't blowing 15 mph with gusts to 25, I will go up the the lake and try it out. Caveat: This is Oklahoma. That day may be more than a month away.

    What's Cooking?

Orzo, shrimp, and pea pasta with marinated fresh tomatoes.
  11. Fishing shows were not always theatrical. Any of you remember Harold? BTW his fish fry coating was good.

    What's Cooking?

Leftovers tonight. Leftover cannelloni stuffing. Leftover red sauce. Roll ups. Life is good.
  13. Where I live, someone else hires people to use the herbicide, fertilizer, and mow. I highly recommend it.😁
  14. That may well be. It is less than an ounce heavier, but has nearly ten years of tech development in its favor. The MGX won an ICAST award, but Tackletour awarded the Daiwa an editor's choice award. The comparison should prove interesting. BTW, who wants to recommend a reel refurbisher. Someone who will do more than oil and tighten screws?
  15. I have fished a Abu Garcia Revo MGX on one of my rods since 2013. The last three years, I have used it on my homemade Ned rod. Dynamite reel. Worth every penny of its ridiculous, at the time, price. The last year or so it has chattered on the cast and felt clicky as it did so. I need to find a person skilled in reel restoration to revive it. To throw my light baits on the Ned rod, I ordered a Daiwa Zillion SV TW G reel. It received good reviews on Tackletour and I will use it while I have the Revo MGX restored. I will post my opinion of the new Daiwa once I put it on the rod. Your opinions would interest me. Heck, any opinions of the MGX would interest me.
  16. I will try them after the upcoming freeze. The baits stretch and rebound like elaztech and do not shed salt. I might even be able to leave a rigged jig on the hook between trips!
  17. I have one rigged for the next outing. No salt means the hook and rod hook eye will not rust. I will report.

    What's Cooking?

Last night we had muffaletta. No pictures, as I have posted pictures before. Tonight, I made up for the fact that I have not made my beautiful wife a red meat sauce in a very long time. Sweet Italian sausage on linguini. We shredded some Romano for interest.
  19. This explains why I bought an Evinrude.
  20. This is a classic example of what I do not know. These gentlemen are speaking gibberish to each other. What I do not know about boats and engines fills a large blog.
  21. Catch Co is making a salt free, 2.5" ribbed craw, ElazTech style product that looks good for 1/16 and 1/8 heads. Without the salt, it should stand tall and proud from the git go. https://www.amazon.com/Catch-Co-Sukoshi-Plastic-Finesse/dp/B07ZPC8W2W?th=1
  22. I envy you. Really. I wish I could still drag my Dad to the lake or river for a day like yours. The last time I took him fishing, we fished with a guide named Eldon out of Sportsmans. Dad caught a 4 pound rainbow and I caught a brown in the 9 pound range. At the end of the the day, he told me that would be the last trip. I would do that trip another 20 or 30 times. If I could. I wish I had pictures.

    What's Cooking?

Tuesday included a fancy dinner meal away from home. Thursday I reverted to an old favorite, hot dog casserole. The salad featured greens from my patio garden.

    What's Cooking?

Tasty but not pretty meal last night, a small strip steak and a barley pilaf. The only pretty part was the avocado with marinated tomatoes.
