  1. The skim ice around my boat slip has not quite melted. I will go out tomorrow with intent of throwing jigs in creek arms. I know it's too early, but what the hey.
  2. Hey everyone: I hope the above post did not give the wrong impression. I was trying to alert getfished that someone or something might have tainted his link. Either that or my paranoid security software was acting nerdy again. Either way, no intent to comment on the link or the product existed.
  3. Just visited the ramp at Holiday Island. No bueno as of now, but no ice on the lake. The marina cove had some ice, but it's thin and breaking up. Looks like the docks rode low, but none buckled under the weight.
  4. Thanks for the video.
  5. I hear a new blooper movie is in the works: Dances with Eels.
  6. getfished heads up - my norton says the site is unsafe with 3 threats. Probably an over reaction by the software. If not I am sure it would be an unintentional something. Thought you should know so you can fix it.

    What A Day

If the forecasted temp holds, I'm fishing. I may not catch but I will fish.

    What A Day

  9. Here at Table Rock, I've never found them in riffles. Look for the humps in the bottom of the channel where the channel is 5 to 20 feet deep and the hump comes up to 2 to 10 feet. Fish just below the hump. After dark they move up to the humps.
  10. They may be ugly, but they are the very best fresh water fish to eat. Since I love catfish and crappie, that means much. In Ozark lakes, walleye feed primarily on shad. At times they will suspend under balls of shad. Other times look for them to relate to structure like bass, but primarily at places they can ambush shad schools. There is a small, but hardcore group who fish primarily for walleye on Stockton, Bull Shoals, and Tablerock. You might see if you can work an invitation to fish with one of them to see how they approach the species. Another idea would be to hire Mike Worley on Bull Shoals and have hime teach you a bunch in a short period of time.
  11. The snow melt will raise lake levels with very cold water, but not as high or as brown as if it were a hard rain. The key to your March trip is whether we get another one right before you arrive. While not impossible, that is improbable.
  12. Oh. Trying to get this thread shutdown too?
  13. Many, including Lilley, use small jigs (brown, green, black, and white) fished barely off bottom on the drift. If you mash the barbs down well, you can fish these in the restricted zones. You might search the forum on jigs in Taneycomo.
  14. I am going out on Sunday. The water temp may be sub 40, but I am going out on Sunday. It is my official beginning of the new season, and everyone fishes opening day, right?
  15. jeb - that answer is as solid as I've read. Good job.
  16. You techie whiz bang guys are so ... what's the word? cool. I'm lucky if I can get my computer to post.
  17. All three species will respond to the right presentation. Add to the above - a very slow rolled spinner bait moving only fast enough to spin the blade with pause to allow to drop.
  18. At 881, Holiday Island Marina would be high and dry and the main channel out in front of it would be 5 or 6 feet deep.
  19. Great video Phil. Thanks.
  20. Dutch, do you use the traditional three way swivel and long rod method?
  21. Many of us have made dumb mistakes, a/k/a learning experiences, with our boats. One of the reasons we all love Bill Dance bloopers is that we have been there. You have already received good suggestions. You will receive and learn others. Best advice I can give is to make a check list of to do's for your boat. I mean, really, write it down and laminate it. Use it. Maybe that way you won't float your trailer because you forgot to undo the tie down straps at the back of the boat. Or have your trailer tire catch on fire from over heated unlubricated bearings, or ....
  22. A friend forwarded pictures of Shangri La Marina on Grand lake. The weight of the snow took several docks under - with boats and all - and collapsed roofs on top craft as well. News reports indicate Ugly John's had the same problems. Did any of the marinas North of here at LOZ or elsewhere have similar problems?
  23. Why don't you contact wacky worm? Bet he knows places on the Indians or upper Elk.
  24. A slight detour - but related. If your goal is to release with minimal damage, invest in a Boga grip. I rarely have to touch bass at all. If they are large enough that I use a net, I still use the grip for the unhook and leave the fish in the wet rubber net for the picture. Based on the trips I used to take to the White below Bull Shoals, I believe the same would be true for trout. With walleye, the grip saves me from teeth and protects the non legal fish.
