  1. I am pretty sure it wasnt live bait by the sound it made when it hit the water - I bet it was trout food. Hopefully it helped him as we coulndt hardley get a solid bite all day. Thanks for the clarification C4F
  2. are there any reputable boat dealers in the Branson / Kimberling City area....just wanting to shop for a newer boat. I have noticed a couple of Phoenix's on the lake and I sure would like to look one over C4F
  3. Today while fishing above the boat ramp a guy came in the area with a couple of other people in the boat and the first thing he did was throw a couple of scoops of something into the water. I have never seen this before - any idea as to what he was doing? C4F
  4. Doug - I assume that these are Humminbird shots....I have been looking at purchasing a unit for about 6 months and I have to ask. What is the real difference between Lowrance and Humminbird? I have been to our BPS many times but I get a different opinion/answer everytime. Just looking for a straight answer.... Thx, C4F
  5. Thanks Phil - I read the boards are going up soon so that is a good thing. You guys do a great job of taking care of us that live far away and live vicariously through your posts. C4F
  6. Thanks Bill - will there be some kind of updated map for us uneducated? I have been above fall creek in the past and it was tricky even then. I have read about the changes but I am having a hard time visualizing - especially the sand bar that I read now comes across the area. I am running a 19.5' bass boat so I am not intested a hull remodel ...nor a lower unit replacement project. Thanks C4F
  7. We are praying hard for all of you folks in that part of the country...SW MO, AR, OK....each face thier own set of challenges and trial......makes you wonder when the scriptures tell us that we will not be burdened more than we can bear....you are some strong folks down there C4F
  8. If I was playing your the boss I would..........give everyone the day off to go fish. But then again that wasnt the question. C4F
  9. Bimmer - I would check out everything that Bill Babler posts as he give locations, bait used etc. for us Table Rock novices it is a great advantage. Fin/Feather is a great place I have left a benjamin there while getting the right gear and or advice but I wouldnt miss a chance to got to the BPS outlet....some great stuff you just ahve to watch the prices. Good luck and God Bless C4F
  10. Billfo what are you thinking???? You need to keep your home here in Omaha that way you will stay true to your roots! At least we are not in the frozen tundra like we were last year! C4F
  11. As the therapist on that Geico commercial would say....."what a jack wagon" The rates for you guides are VERY resonable.....I cant even imagine what kind of boat I would be getting into if the guy only charged me $75.....would I have to paddle it myslef? Happy New Year to all! C4F
  12. Nice boat - I like the new styles that Nitro have come out with. I own a 901 and compared to other boat mfg's for the money they cant be beat...in my humble opinion. C4F
  13. Billfo - how could you leave us and move to the south so that you can enjoy fishing year around at any one of a dozen lakes that will not completely freeze over??? I am baffled to say the least......... or green with envy- at least have the decency to display your allegence to the Husker Nation by proudly showing off your license plate holder where it says "I am a husker" as it surrounds your new Missouri license plate. Enjoy your new digs C4F
  14. I am coming down in a couple of weeks......for sure it sounds like the best fishing is in the coves... C4F
  15. I am interested in the CU 200 for sure. Can you email me at bturner@dtamfg.com and we can haggle on your items. I am going to be in the area (going to Lilley's) from the 3rd to the 11th and could arrange a pick up C4F
  16. Dutch these still for sale? C4F
  17. I just bought one from Tackle warehouse for $79 plus shipping. To tell the truth I think that this is a fine rod and even if they are going under I dont know if that would have changed my mind...if you follow a Dave Ramsey philosophy that is the best time to buy. But then I am wired a little different when it come to this stuff......
  18. Mark - I have to commend you and your group for working diligently to accomidate both groups in an effort to make sure that the Big Bass event can be enjoyed by all no matter the potential conflicts. It speaks highly of you and your group - being stuck here in Nebraska and not near this kind of event I really envy the guys that can actually be there and be a part of the festivities. But sometimes they cant see the forest for the trees. Best of luck to both groups and enjoy! C4F
  19. Eric - some great thoughts and guidance. When you fish the fluke are you using a bait caster or spinning rig? I have one heck of a time with no weight on a bait caster. Also so I have not really thrown over any cables etc. as I am not sure how to get the fish out of those areas.....thoughts there? I would consider myself somewhere in between as far as accuracy around docks - If I am on that day then I look good if I am off then watch out and wear protective gear you never know where the stuff will end up...on the roof, wrapped around something, in some poor guys boat etc. C4F
  20. I have to throw my 2 cents in here - I agree with Techo when I come to TL or Taney I usually hire a guide to show me the patterns etc. since I only get down once or twice a year. I also dont mind if the guide wants to fish - I am always in the learning mode and I want to watch his techniques, pick his brain as to how he views the water etc. And being somewhat competitive I like to see if I can out fish the guide. This has resulted in great memories and friendships even to this day. I think the main theme here is to communicate to the guide what you are expecting right from the beginning and no one will be disappointed. C4F
  21. Great vid Phil - we were down this last weekend and started fishing about where you were and they loved the 1/8th white jig....we C&R'd at least 70 in the three days. I bet we missed setting the hook on at least that many. I did end up donating about 8 white jigs to the lake (snags) so at one point I put on a 1/8th cinamon color that I had from last year and they ate that as well...of course the key was getting it to the bottom and making it dance. It was a great time especially for the newbie that I brought - I think that he may be a new regualar. C4F
  22. Thanks Phil - I brought a newbie with me and this helps alot! We will be out early Friday to give it a try. C4F
  23. Fishingwrench - thanks for the input. I had thought about the variability in the throttle position while bouncing across the lake....I know what is like on a bumpy road and wondered how all of that would affect the engine / plane combination. I had almost talked myself out of spending this kind of money anyway - your advice helped me make the final decision. Now the biggest problem....I had gotten approval from my in house financial person for this purchase...I need to put some kind of spin on this so I can still spend the money
  24. I am thinking of having a hot foot installed on my Bass boat this year - but it is a fairly pricey event. Are there thoughts both good and bad regarding having one installed? I know that the obvious reason is that you can have both hands on the wheel during high speed runs....not to minimize that issue but are there other reasons? Thanks in advance guys for the feed back C4F
