  1. Unfortunately people’s wages in our area didn’t keep up with inflation. Buying power has suffered. I worked at a Schreiber cheese until a back injury sent me back to college in 90...in the 80s schreibers parking lot was full of new cars, nothing less than 2 or 3 years old, all of us had toys bikes, nice bass boats etc...I noticed when I moved back to Missouri in 2011 that had changed, most cars were second hand and 10 year old stuff, no one could afford the nice bass boats anymore....I calculated for a couple bubbies of mine that still worked there if their pay had just kept up with inflation the lowest pay in the 80s was general plant worker at 8.70 an hour...operators over 10...just figure flat % to have the same buying power as they did in 1989 was 35 an hour🤬🤬🤬😳😳😳... So the 22 they pay operators or the starting @ 19 an hour is still underpaying
  2. I think Walmart knew this was coming they planned on less people with self check...our local Walmart let go about 80 a year before all this...from what I read Mickey dees is perfecting auto cooking/selling of food only one staff in the whole place....but the big reason is all the food spitting n such
  3. Ever wonder why we started a space force?
  4. For a decade or so I ran my own advertising agency. 95% of my clients ran employment ads. we are in a unique time 1st the lock down forced some not to work, some were paid 250 +300 extra for a totalof $550 that’s $13.75 to not do anything...most jobs in our area paid 10-12...the extra benefits ran out in June...several outside things have happened...retired age people learned not working was easy if you went without a few things and they dropped out of the Job market...others like stay at home parents forced to home school their kids found out it was better for them and their kids, many cases they dropped out of the job market... in blue states NY city and LA for example people worked from home via many apps like zoom etc, with fast internet and better bandwidth now a reality, made not having to come to an office viable...no cost for office space in the big city and this added millions to the companies bottom line...it also allowed that blue state company to hire from anywhere including SW Missouri....so instead of hiring a customer service or sales rep for 100k you can get them all day for 40k here.... east/west coast public education isn’t what it one was ( just look at AOC Boston College grad 🤣😂🤣😂🤣) anyone 35 and younger from those areas suffer from indoctrination school not education school....better trained out of the box employees for less than half price..... if you are looking for help in our area the don’t let the door hit you in the posterior mentality of many employers is coming back to haunt them and 20 an hour is the starting point...better folks will be more...our area is getting a jerk kicking and screaming into the new reality...others like NY city and other blue state hubs will and are crashing. The exodus of people from there to places like Branson or Springfield will continue, violence poor government policies and the jobs leaving. ..the funny thing is people were worried our area would get liberalized so to speak...but those that move here find out quickly those type policies get rejected by the 80+ percent of conservatives here...and many that do move here no longer have to agree with leftest agenda to fit it or keep jobs and social standing....it’s interesting how this reset will play out.
  5. Used to troll shad raps and bombers on Stockton, works great but pricy when it’s pretty easy to lose 3-4 plugs in a day....neds and jig-crawler for me
  6. I have caught a couple close to that size never thought of checking the record...Osage river...and below Truman dam
  7. It is bowfisherman global warming isn’t a hoax, we have been warming since the end of the last ice age about 12k years ago...paleo weather is a interest of mine. Been studying it that last 10 years or so...,but man caused global warming is the big question.... 8000 years ago we were warm than today sea level was higher it’s called the Holocene optimum or today now called Holocene thermal maxim ( politics). It would do to call it optimum....no farting cows or carbon belching Buick’s or coal fired power plants... it seems Viking settlers could survive early settlements in Greenland or was it Iceland🤔🤔🤔 but a return to colder times and advancing glaciers returning In the 6th century, until the 1850s the “little ice age” Seems a few Central American volcano erupted causing some cooler weather. Some theories on it ending the Olmec and Mayan civilizations and causing the dark ages...perhaps contributed to plague outbreaks and ultimately the fall of Rome....worthy reading
  8. Temps have been cyclical late 70s early 80s. 1st few years of Stockton impounded and start of fishing was marked by very cold winters followed by drought and short scorching summers, back then the lake had pike...water was much more fertile....less fishing pressure for certain, late 2000s winters were very mild summers brutally hot....now is gone the other way last year we set a record for sub 90 days don’t think we hit 100 much if any, normally last week of June to 1st 2 weeks of aug I stayed of the lakes and fished streams hotter the better...spooks and small white buzz baits....lakes were a waste unless it was night...got into carping then less BS from fighting people...only issues was if BFers got wind of a chummed up area...One reason camouflage became the thing Chumming deeper To keep fish out of range...now after a decade or so of heaver BFing the carp got smart or got dead...other than the spawn they shoot more buff and gar than carp....many of the smallish Kansas waters don’t allow BFing but the catfish will drive you crazy some spots 20-1 Channels to carp....are a few spots in the white river chain with good sized carp, just get a ton of pressure...spawn is when they get hammered one reason I think bigger bass size is down on the rock...not as many baby carp to eat when the YOY bass need that big jump in growth out of the box...somewhere posted a nutritionist look at rainbow trout vs common carp everyone knows what a bass munching on trout looks like HUGE! Common carp exceeds fat and calories of trout....Ether way all anglers want bigger fish
  9. I regularly caught 3-4 smallies on Stockton mostly point 6 to the dam area
  10. I’d like to see strict regs on smallmouths, possibly a supplementary stocking of them, yellow perch would be a great add food for preds and another fish for the meat crowd. seems more LMB these days but less smallies...the 12” reg on spotted bass should help both walleyes and smallies catfish are under utilized imho, usually catch some dandys while carping...speaking of which those have been running a bit bigger, perhaps the BFers pressure allow some to get a bit larger, but you just don’t see the fish in the 20-30 class like elsewhere...the Osage River has some interesting fish that you would think would show up in Stockton like moon eyes or other herrings...I have friends that guide on dale hollow in many ways it’s like table rock with many of the same problems but no Branson to lure in many more people with Stocktons lack of shore development hopes it stays a beautiful and less crazy as our other waters attached is a dale special
  11. True, but have seen folks turning the better eyes loose, backs in the day that never happened

  13. They used to shock fish off the dam at Stockton. Unsure if they still do it or not. But one thing is for certain the big monsters don’t show up...worthy of a study,
  14. Stockton is a great place but I wish the fish ran bigger...I wish a greater effort to stock the native river strain and a more progressive length and bag limits fish def run smaller than in the late 80s and early 90s... the fish seem Emaciated...unsure why, perhaps burning up more energy than they get eating just shad , bluegills, yellow perch etc would help...could be the pressure, people have the skills to catch walleyes more today, spot lock, better electronics...other states have slot limits perhaps the time has come for that on Stockton... haven’t seen a huge fish in years every fall a few mid teens showed up caught by a bass angler on a jig and pig or tossing jerk baits at night...biggest I heard of late was 8#..... MDC? What up?
  15. LOZ 2.0 and the popular wake boats...look at it this way it will run fisherman off the lake and reduce harvest🙄 bad water quality, too many fishing, and wakes the make it uncomfortable at best, dangerous at worst

  19. A quick scan around FB will show a great deal of people have no problem putting a knife in a 5# bass.....
  20. You have a point it can be argued the person who kills his limit does less stress to fish than the c and r angler who catches 100
  21. Troy works on his pops about carp fishing...
