    Fish roe

One reason they go trough all the prep work on mullet roe…pulling out as much moisture, then pressing them to compact the grain so to speak…..Japanese food I find places texture first then Taste….the whole flaming them before serving kills fishy aftertaste on many things they eat….using a dehydrator would cut days off the prep time…
  3. I enjoyed this post…growing up there was a blessing fueling my love of all things fishing….

    Fish roe

The mullet roe has a cheese like quality…the prep process with rum/flame takes the fishyness away…it’s salty smoky flavor depending on how it’s served, daikon radish, spicy mayo….it’s pricy for a reason

    Fish roe

Suckers, walleyes, crappie, all potential roe that could be prepared mullet style….it should be noted gar eggs are toxic! Eating them could be your last meal……knew a guy killed all his chickens that way

    Fish roe

I have eaten mullet roe dehydrated sushi style…but can be fixed faster in a dehydrator, have not tried walleye and crappie roe fixed this was just deep fried and crispy…good eats worthy of saving from the gut pile
  9. have never been an advocate of slight color changes. I fish color that conforms to conditions. I more acknowledge that a change of location is way more important than a slight change in natural lure color. Thousand and thousands of both guide and fishing trips have sent me in this direction. . I agree, color of individuals Vary, changes slightly depending on lighting even a fishes mood…profile seems more important….I have noticed bait minnows like fatheads, the males with dark head reading colors must not taste as good as an egg seeping female As far as feeding locations…..some places fish rest some are where they feed…..current, ambush location, of the insects in a micro location are all hatching/molting/mating
  10. Large flat rocks can be a surprisingly good lair….however poachers can wipe out whole stretches this time of year the elk river drainage has had issues with newly American using Hawaiian slings snorkeling…sometimes Gil nets…..MDC hired and additional agent there a few years back
  11. Lose fishing rights after the 1st offense….
  12. Yup..Love them Tigers! Wonder if they migrate? Be cool when they get this big
  13. You also can’t obscure the red and green coast guard cracking the whip ,most BFing rigs can’t comply because you can’t see running lights at distance
  14. Kinda like St. Louis huh? laissez le bon temps rouler, oui mon ami?
  15. In recent months a push has been made to limit the BFing of fish and dumping them back it avoids fish disposal…in Missouri the Asian carp ( big head, silver, grass and black carp) and common carp have no limits…however the other “ roughfish” do its 20 and they are supposed to be retained…theses native fish have been under a great deal of study of late…seems they make up 60-90% of BFed fish….some new regulations specifically eliminates the legal practice of shoot and release…..it’s since accelerated since the dumping of over 1000 gar shot in a single night in Oklahoma and dumped…biologists got a wake up call on impact to some species…..black buffalo is listed as special status with alligator gar with a one fish limit and notification of the kill to the state…..times are a changing
  16. Bluff banks..find a blow down then the better gills suspend about 25 foot out from the brush swim a small Jig tipped with a bit of worm…..early they can be on the surface, as the sun comes up they drop down….bigger fish run deeper….in a pinch slip bobbers and wax worms….put them bull bream on ice they will be better table fare
  17. Never forget the intimidating factor…one reason a pump shotgun is effective shickshick the the peeing pants begin
  18. Ever hear of the Greek Oracles the keepers of knowledge? Or the Priest’s of Thoth? Keepers of history and knowledge aged decrepit even…. remember the scene in quiggly were he says don’t forget the gold? besides the hordes of St. Louis will head straight to St Charles…how long to walk to hill country? 5 days?
  19. In some scenarios 80% of the population will be dead in 18 months….scavenging will be easy at 1st then difficult….the will to live is a powerful motivator….some can’t or won’t and give up… being in the US rather than say India the government has continuity of government nodes which at least 2 are within a easy drive from Branson…these “nodes” will help restart our way of life….depending on the disaster holding out might be 90days to as long as 5 years…..
  20. Guns make noise, sometimes you have the need to be quiet
  21. The thing now is a stash of seeds….heirloom types that can be kept going…..knowledge will be a skill set in demand, so few under 35 committed much to long term memory…I may order some taxonomy books ( pricy) to be able to accurately ID medicinal herbs…know some really well others not so much…meds and how to use them will be of great need
