  1. The simplistically of the day, Taney county had a population of about 10k then... today about 60k with far more tourists today than the handful of people who visited Back then...wonderful old river jons.... I thought it interesting the comment about with good management the Ozarks timber would come back...
  2. Flatfish used to be a big fish bait at roaring river
  3. Sometimes it’s not varmints it’s people 😡 https://youtu.be/WaGv2zC1aK8 https://youtu.be/xaH9uujSGTY

  6. Red pill, blue pill ?
  7. Never submitted a scientific paper for Peer review, have written a couple of outdoor mag articles ( posted them on OAF) on here somewhere...as you know gathering hard data ( numbers) can be done a few ways...get your feet wet so to speak...or published data from others ( sourced of course) if you think I’m going to tell you which states ( tip our hand)we are seeking changes to regulations to enhance the common carp angling experience. 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫😉 perhaps when I do share you can call the originators of the study to ask if they know me 🤗 I will however share some info on efforts .to allow multiple rods in Ontario... https://oodmag.com/news/multiple-lines-proposed-for-carp-anglers/
  8. I remember that line of questioning before the Connecticut regulations were ratified, I’m perfectly aware how submitting abstracts works and how projects for Masters and PHd work...I have even requested carp related info from biologists who frequent this forum ( thanks again btw) One interesting tidbit I’ll share is the migration habits of common carp, they are VERY specific where that go...always to where they were hatched...in a lake population may have a population that has multiple spawning areas, but individuals that may school together in the main lake, but head to each individual spawning areas...did you know common carp have been aged to over 50 years?
  9. Never did any drugs....or consumed much alcohol ether, or smoked...camped, hunted, fished and trapped....my only vice per-say was muscle cars, SCCA racing (autocross) typical sports... as a young adult I volunteered helping youth, coaching, kids fishing events...those sorts of things. i can tell you one of the most satisfying things ever is a happy kid after they catch a big fish!

  12. It was just at 4# 24” I’m my memory serves me, need to dig out the certificate I’ve slept since then It was 1988 or 89..we saw a few about 5 ish a tad bigger but fish at that time ran 2 ish, 17 or 18” caught some nice warmouth and crappie, we had give up trying to catch them on bass gear and started hitting the multi trunk cypress trees and I was flipping a bets ice fly with white hackle like a jig on the ultra lite you see there, thought for sure it was going to cut me off, thing was a jumping fool, it was much heavier built that a northern of the same size...water had come up and had a bit of color than normal and according to the locals fishing was a bit off
  13. 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂☺️🤣🤣😂😂👍👍👍
  14. Interesting, kind of explains why a new lake or “renovated” water, anglers experience a boom fishery for a few years before fishing tails off from weeding out the more vulnerable tendency fish...perhaps instead of the kill off and drain supplemental stocking of more vulnerable strains would bring back a fishery quicker than a do over 🤔🤔🤔 I wonder if this would pertain to other species?
  15. Cool footage...GoPro? Those fish look well fed!
  16. About*.....I am held back by heath issues not choice, little by little I’m working back into it, trying to belittle my prowess as an angler to corrupt my stance on ( topic of the day) your snide comments betray your intent...in person I don’t come across as assey, as a note I am happy to PM a couple of places one might encounter some of these humongous sunfish... As a side note I do a bit of research for some of biologist friends, soon an interesting abstract will be published...can’t wait to post it here
