  2. Post spawn stress would be a factor in mortality rates, ask your self what would cause that stress? This is interesting I remember years ago they found shocking walleye off their spawning areas at Stockton was causing numbers of fish to abort spawning, I wonder how much more sencitive Native river spawn fish are vs northern lake strain are, or if post spawn or aborted spawn fish have higher mortality. I would suspect bright light from bowfishing boats could stress fish during the spawn (bass/crappie/walleyes) be easy to test in a group of ponds when I was in school we studied to stress mice with bright lights and it caused some interesting changes in behavior

  5. They have been planing a lake since the 60s in that general area this one is a baby they should make one at least 20k some people will get run off their land but this lake has been needed for a very long time
  6. Global warming strikes again😀 I remember the late 70’s when we had feet of snow that stayed on all winter, always hit Taney a lot back then...them fish ran bigger a limit averaged 3 - 4lbs and Branson shut down for the off season, peeps now just hole up, snow makes for dandy rabbit hunts, ahhh the days of my youth
  7. Interesting posts, Ihave fed birds most of my adult life, a blend of seeds and feeder types bring a variety of species. Shelled sunflower chips help keep things less messy and hemp seeds are a nice add, if you attract birds you will attract predators, place feeders away from ambush points and only the stupid and weak will get taken.. nature’s way As far as shoot the “feral” cats killing the 5 year old kids fluffy vs the chewed up old tomcats is a ID issue, I’m not a cat person but setting out antifreeze will kill non target animals....if you have a cat issue a live trap will catch most encourage niebors that you saw an owl almost get their kitty and soon it will be an inside cat, if fluffy comes home with an arrow in it you can count on making the news, hunters get a bad rap these days so don’t be “that guy” ether way it’s a blast to feed birds and squirrels

  19. I am told that goldfish are not the same thing as common carp. But have heard of that place, we have mirror carp here in our lakes but it’s uncommon to find ours over 30 pounds hard to hide when you get that big too many stabbers once before the bfing boom on the white river chain of lakes common carp would avg mid to upper teens with a few in the twenties now you catch more fish but a teen is the better fish far more 5 pounders now
