there are a few spawning populations in the spring creeks that feed the greater spring river (SW Missouri)drainage..I was blessed to catch a few chasing smallmouths, dropping down to trout gear, the big chubs keep you busy till you come across the rainbows... when you do, the fish are amazing beautiful I wish I had taken some pics...they a longer and have a more white body with stunning colors...I wish the state would buy up and protect these waters

Flysmallie I completely understand...the way people that succeed create envy and jealousy...a perfect example is how the new England Patriots are hated, I for one am truly happy to see someone do well...at least if it doesn't come at the expense of others...perhaps its the blame everyone but the person in the mirror mentality we see so much in the younger crowd today...not everyone can be the best, and not everyone has equal resources, if mom and pop starts out their kids with free 130k homes its understandable how a person that busts their butts to pay for there own can think Jr didn't earn it....but that is the world we live in...

the more money involved the better chance someone will cheat, LMB virus was most likely spread via tourney live wells or release boats, once it devastates a few lakes perhaps then mandatory changes will get put in place

MDC reports 33 CWD positives out of nearly 24,500 samples tested
MoCarp replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Big Game
the possibility are horrible death from touching much less eating a deer has ramifications far beyond just keeping deer populations healthy..nature is cruel...get too many of anything one or two things happen sickness will cull the herd, or more predators will cull the herd...since we are short bears mountain lions and wolves in sufficient numbers man steps into this roll, deer management has allowed stable and growing deer populations https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/10/6/03-1082_article -
MDC reports 33 CWD positives out of nearly 24,500 samples tested
MoCarp replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Big Game
all mammals have species specific diseases, and parasites some worse than others a few can on occasion jump to people and when it does it can be specifically deadly, one reason CWD scares the hell out of people because it can crush a lucrative money market (deer hunting) if people can't eat deer or fear eating deer they will not spend money to do hunt, odds are you could eat an infected deer and not catch anything, but if it was one chance out of 10,000 would you do it? or let a family member eat it? most would say no...how many deer get harvested and not tested? or do you trust the test? the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends hunters strongly consider having their harvested deer tested before eating the meat. They also recommends not consuming an animal that tests positive for the disease.” when you can possibly die from even touching an animal, I don't think people will eat it....it should be noted I have not found any evidence of people getting CWD, much less catching from eating or touching deer meat/parts again its about $$ I read where a guy moving to TN got busted coming from Missouri with his deer mount and burger in a cooler, in states with no CWD they are crazy about stopping it, because of the "what might happen"...the whole Larry Dablemont issue on his articles have stirred up a hornets nest with "the CWD is called Kruetzfeldt-Jakobs disease in people" and how deadly CWD would be in the human population this basically caused a melt down at the MDC....its an issue thats not going away anytime soon, I don't plan on eating any venison anytime soon -
Another report from the tribal lands

Joplin, it was a U19 team made up of joplin parkwood / memorial may have had a kid from carl....I slept since then, I was the keeper, put played a fair stryker as well circa 1978-79 my brother was giddy to be able to get the tickets... he always was a golfer/hunter...I was the fisherman/coach....coached youth soccer over 20 years, never could get into golf, always wanted to be fishing on those nice days....lol I jokingly asked my brother if sneaking in an airhorn was out of the question, he said not a chance, I said he prob could get on national TV if he blasted a horn at the right time... he wasn't to happy to even think about it

Soccer has been huge in Missouri a very long time, I played way back in the late 70's and remember driving to Tulsa to see Pele play when the NY Cosmos came to town..as far as golf my brother sent me this yesterday he lives in GA something about the masters....

Sometimes protection is a good thing, sometimes I wonder at what cost we paid for taming the white river
-
on fishinwrench's hybrid hypothesis, I have always noticed the white bass in say Stockton ran smaller that those in TR or BS,.. White river chain fish were always better table fair than the ones caught from LOZ or Grand for that matter and wonder if at some point that the Stockton LOZ or grand fish had been gene polluted with white perch (Morone americana)? or that way back in the day with white river chain fish with pure stripers? it was always easier to catch huge whites 2-4# in the white river chain than in Stockton or Grand....

I am proud to have started with CAG in the early years, we even had several CAG events in our area before I moved to Texas, most times fishing here we would land 10-20 fish from 10# and if we were lucky a couple over 20-as much as 30#, most of this places we fished before I moved to Texas you will be lucky to land one over 15# (bass pro Bfing tourneys) but still can catch 100+ pounds of fish an outing. I would encourage anyone to try and catch these fantastic fish, I have fished for and caught trophy fish of all kinds from 30# musky, double digit walleyes, big trout and bass, slab crappies and monster sunfish, I still love catching other fish but nothing has been as challenging or as satisfying as common carp fishing...fly or euro style, give it a try this season you will be glad you did.

Bradford Pears and their cultivars, have been over planted for 25 years, once they mature the lose their compact shape and they don't like ice, a few years ago Carthage where I live had a tree planting surge and worked with consultants and gave out a great deal of very nice trees, it was hoped it could off set the aging population of sugar maples the city is well known for, all trees had to have fall color and be sturdy in our climate, trees like The “Autumn Purple” ash tree (Fraxinus americana “Autumn Purple”)...Nyssa sylvatica, black gum...maidenhair or ginkgo blob, linden tree and few others, those trees are now pushing 30 years old and the wisdom of those who applied for the grants to do this have made Carthage a much prettier place for generations to come...I was very seriously considering being an arborist as trees have been a passion of mine, ever took vacations to seek out trees I have never seen before, Zǔfùmǔ zhǒng xiàle shù, sūnzi què shōuhuòle shù yīn.... is an ancient chinese proverb, I hold this dear to my heart and should be something we all should realize as it applies to many things in life it means "the grandparents plant the tree yet the grandchildren harvest the shade"
