  1. Had a great time and met some great people. One of the few times I get to bring my wife fishing with me due to 3 little ones at home. she toughed out the frigid weather and a 70mph boat ride in 36 degrees. lol. We went to Aunt's Creek and found water with some stain to it. Bites were few and far between but we managed 14lb and some change on a mixed bag with all three species of bass. caught 6 keepers and several shorts. water in Aunt's was 48-49 degrees. fish came on wiggle wart, shad rap, Jig, and ned rig. Nothing real big. Left and worked back closer to KC area. Fished Mill Creek and close to the Cows where we found cleaner water that was 51 but only caught one more fish all day. we were missing the bigger largemouth bite. Hope to have a pic to share later. thanks for the help from you local TR guys. much appreciated.
  2. bowfin. we used to call them dogfish
  3. thanks for the help guys. will report back how it went.
  4. nice tip Bo.
  5. nice, looks like a great day on the water. what part of the lake where you fishing?
  6. Not a TR regular. How is this upcoming cold snap paired with dropping water going to effect the bass fishing this weekend in the midlake area?
  7. helix can be networked. Helix 9, 10, and 12 can. the Helix 5, and 7 are the only ones that cannot. For comparison sake, you are right, the 7 inch screen equivalent cannot. One thing I like about the bigger helix is the Auto charts. Does this Garmin do and auto mapping? Also, is it compatible with their front facing sonar deal???
  8. good to hear. would you consider that one to be the competition for the Helix models from Humminbird?
  9. nice buy. I am a humminbird guy and want to update to new units but they are just getting too pricey for my blood. I will be watching to see how some of the other players like Garmin perform. Might be an option if you can find units like this for that price. how big is the screen?
  10. so say the lake gets 11 inches. what would we be looking at in 2 weeks? the weekend of the 19th?
  11. 11 inches!!!??? Will that turn the lake worthless and flooded again?
  12. sweet, Im in. Now if I can only remember to keep it updated.
  13. Will those be shared like other mdc fish attractors?
  14. Abrasion resistance. With light lines the finesse fishing is pretty typical as a clear water technique thus the lower visibility as you stated. Fluoro also does stretch it just does not have the recoil as copolymer or mono. I have used copolymer and Fluoro and honestly don't care either way. If I was on bull shoals or table rock then Fluoro would get the nod for sure. I also use the Alberto knot and have had zero issues with several brands of Fluoro.
  15. old plug you fish that in the same areas you might fish a traditional texas rig on LOZ? only problem I see is it won't skip very well.
  16. Nice catch! What type of water did you find the rig to be successful?
  17. Be there Saturday. Hope to find some bass around the glaze area. Any reports?
  18. No way I would do that. You can't space joists any more than 16 inches on center or they sag. Not near strong enough support.
  19. I will be there again. This deal it isn't a bad thing to get lucky. just takes one cast. Wrench what shop do you run??? Name/locations?
  20. Haven't been to the lake for months. What's next Saturday gonna shape up to be? Any reports?
  21. I use KVD and love it. It keeps my fluorocarbon fresh and strong. I only respool when there isn't enough line to cast well. I have fluorocarbon that is two years old and still performs fine. I wet a rag with it when I spool up then run the line through the wet rag rewetting it as needed. Then spray the spool as well 4 or 5 times while spooling. Then let it dry. When I know I'm going fishing I spray them down the night before.
  22. Had the family swimming near the dam and you could tell there was a little current. Any bass being caught in this water?
  23. give you $200??
  24. Is there a night bite yet?
  25. Thanks bferg. I will probably stick closer to the dam and within a few miles either way. hope to fish and be able to pull the kids on a tube. Hope there isn't too much debris to do this. I assume when the water is up like this that flippin the brush is the predominant bass pattern??
