  1. Jayhogs, LOVE IT! Welcome aboard, Vernon. It was the farthest thing from a pretty win, but an exciting one for sure. Woo Pig!
  2. Good to know, Larry. Thanks for the info. Glad they fixed you up. That's a beautiful boat you have.
  3. Randy is more than an asset to this forum. And he's among those pf us who have found that this is one heckuva place to make actual friends beyond internet acquaintances.
  4. Buck, "boat" is not an actual word ... it's an acronym for Break Out Another Thousand.
  5. You know me, Thumbs. If you give me a half a target, I'll take the shot! LOL
  6. Bobby, smallmouths are hard to pattern except during/immediately after the spawn. Not to sound crass, but they are where you find them and they just very well might not be there tomorrow. That's why tournament fishermen hate finding them in practice ... they'll likely be gone in a few days when the tournament starts. Dave's advice is solid. Main-lake gravel-to-chunk rock or gravel-to-bluff transitions and drops can be good. He's also dead-on correct about the things getting on wood this time of year. Good luck out there.

  8. How about an upholstery repair guy? Do you know one of those?
  9. I noticed the stain, too. It clears as you go downlake toward Shell Knob.
  10. Very generous and kind, indeed. Thanks much, Pepe.
  11. Good-looking stuff, there.
  12. Drop shot just isn't my preferred style, Mitch. But right now it's probably the very best way to get yourself bit. I was using a little 4-inch Yamamoto Cut-Tail worm.
  13. Got off to a late start Tuesday morning thanks to a case of cranial-rectal insertion --- i.e., I discovered 20 miles from the house that I'd left my wallet at home. Lost well more than an hour fighting morning rush traffic to go home and retrieve my wallet. Finally arrived at Big M around 8:30. Checked out several hunches over the next 6.5 hours and all produced a few fish, just not any good ones. End result was I caught a dozen fish on drop shot, shaky head, spoon, squarebill and spinnerbait. Had one for-sure keeper, lost a pretty good fish in a dock slip and had one other maybe-keeper. Depth range was 1-40 feet. Typical late-summer fishing ... summer here and summer there. Gotta work for 'em unless you're one of the few who go right to 'em and start pounding 'em every trip. That ain't me. I'm a grinder.
  14. My thoughts exactly. But like aarchdale said, better than a kick in the pants.
  15. Great job, Ben! No doubt the falling water temps have the shad moving into the creeks and cuts, and the bass are naturally gonna follow. Thanks for the report and, as always, for the great data.
  16. I'm on the MUP list. If you know what PUP means, MUP should come to you pretty easily.
  17. Couldn't agree more, Tanderson. Some folks want all the fun and none of the responsibility. Doesn't work that way.
  18. That's really good info for the guys who give a flip whether they kill their fish or not. It's the others who are the problem.
  19. I had a split-grip Cara break down in the handle last year and they charged me the same for a new one --- $80.
  20. Excellent report, QB. Donna and I almost went but opted to play golf instead. Sounds like we missed a good day on the water. Thanks for the heads-up on the Fuse. Might have to buy some of them. Or all of them.
  21. Yes sir, that's a meanmouth. And a pretty one. Congrats on your first one!
  22. LOL, got that right, Vernon.
  23. Good luck, Mike. Hope all goes well for you.
  24. I would be happy to help, Ryan.
  25. When this guy ^^^ talks about deep cranking, better listen to what he has to say. Thanks for the info, Alex.
