  1. Big fish kill in the Kings River just last week. Hundreds of thousands of bass gone. Not enough of them left to even get a bite. I'd suggest going elsewhere.
  2. Arkansas line is only 2-3 miles upstream from Eagle Rock ramp.
  3. Used to do the same thing in Central Pro-Am and other regional tournaments. Keep the monogrammed garb in the storage box and put it on for weigh-in only. They just never made any of those old button-up shirts that were comfortable enough to suit me for all-day fishing.
  4. Rock and roll. Best news I've heard in days.
  5. We are prefishing but likely way, way down the lake.
  6. We will be there for social time but not in the morning. We don't plan to weigh any fish since we have a derby the following weekend. We also wanted Babler and Phil to have a fighting chance.
  7. You aren't likely to get lonely out there, Steve. Webb Outdoors is having its solo pro derby out of Mill Creek and I'm sure there are some other derbies on tap plus lots of folks like Donna and I either practicing for an upcoming derby or just going bonkers to get out.
  8. Haven't fished Taney but used to fish the Little Red in Arkansas and it was like that. Crazy how much that water would cool the air. As you said, just like air conditioning.
  9. Water that comes thru the gates comes off the bottom of Table Rock Lake, so it's cold. That's what creates the ideal conditions for these tailwater trout fisheries along the White River chain of lakes. Taney's water temp warms as it flows downstream toward Branson.
  10. The Walmart Bass Fishing League (BFL) on May 2 is a pro-am format. You can find full info at flwoutdoors.com. If you decide to fish, you might want to post here and on other forums that you're planning to fish and would like to "link" with a boater so you both will be guaranteed entry into the tournament.

I'm holding out great hope for clear roads/ramps by the weekend.
  12. Looks a bit like the old Cordell Wally Diver, which was a pretty good crank plug for bass.
  13. I tell almost everything here. Almost.
  14. I kind of fall on the other side of the fence about the old baits being that much better. I know some very good Wiggle Wart fishermen who say there isn't a dime's difference in the old and the newest ones. Granted, there were some made around the Rapala transition time that just plain sucked, but my sources tell me the new Original Series baits will catch em just the same as the pre-Rap ones. As long as I'm hearing that from the caliber of Wiggle Wart winders that I'm referring to, you boys can duke it out over the pre-Rap ones without me. Gotta say, too, that my feelilngs are influenced by the fact that I'm usually throwing something else when the water temp hits that 50-degree mark. I've had some good days on a Wart and feel that I'm a fair hand with it, but I'm much better with another early-spring tactic.
  15. Not this time, Alex. LOL. Hook, Line & Sinker stores in Rogers and Bella Vista are "partner" stores with Bass Pro Shops, so they are able to carry BPS exclusive items. Last time I was in the Bella Vista store, they had some of all the new Hughes colors. So ... not guilty this time!
  16. If someone needs them bad, I can put my hands on a few of any of the new colors, including the phantom green/blue craw. PM me. Price is below $5 each.
  17. Dang it, shoulda known. Probably got some "I Love My Power Poles" bumper stickers beside the coffee pot.
  18. Donna and I woulda been right there with ya if we could've navigated the roads/ramp. Great day. They always bite when it's snowing. Water temp is encouraging, too. Warmer than I would have guessed.
  19. I will be on TR next weekend if I have to sled up there in a dang kayak.
  20. Hey Bill, since you are getting grasshopper legs, can Donna and I have all of your deep waypoints? We're thinking about swearing off of bank beating. We're also in the market for some drop-shot and spooning rigs, along with assorted other deep sea gear.
  21. Hook, Line & Sinker down here in Rogers has free coffee and gab. While Aaron is a sharp fellow, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that providing free coffee is a pretty cheap investment when you are pouring it down a group of guys who each spend several thousand a year with you. By the way, has anyone seen the coffee pot at Johnny World? Been looking for it. Not the one back in Hemingway's. The free one.
  22. Good job indeed.
  23. I'm with ya, Grumpy, but the RIGHT people need to get out and vote. The last two presidential elections are shining examples of how you can draw the previously untapped votes of the uneducated masses with free toys (cellphones) and more money for sitting on their lazy a$$es (funded by the working folks, of course).
  24. Babler found 'em shallow but close to deep water a couple of days ago. Jerk baits and varmint. Water temps upper 30s to 40. Probably be out there with ya this weekend.
  25. Got to know Jim several years ago while fishing Central Pro-Am. Just a great guy. Always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
