  1. Way to hang in there, QB. That's not a bad morning's work for July.
  2. I've had a container of the Gulp Alive minnows for several years and you can use them over and over. I use them for winter drop-shotting and they've kept their color and original odor all of this time.
  3. Pretty much sums it up. Diving is dangerous. Stuff happens. Sad.
  4. There are 21 in a bucket and they're reusable. Doesn't seem so bad.
  5. Drop-shot bite = a good day to save hours on the Mercury (and gas/oil) and whale upon the little white orb.
  6. Bo, I understand what you're saying. But I'd suggest that you might explain that to the recipient at the time you send out the sample jig. Otherwise, how are they to know that isn't the top-shelf product? When I receive a sample of something, I naturally presume that it's fully representative of that product.
  7. To the contrary, littlejasper, I have tried the Nu-Tech and found nothing special about it. In fact, the one Donna was sent to try (albeit 3-4 years ago) had a crappy bronze hook in it, a sloppy paint job and a scraggly skirt. I wasn't impressed with anything about it. Looked very homemade and amateur-ish, especially up beside the Bass-X, Jewels and War Eagles that we ordinarily throw. They might be better now but they'd certainly have to be quite a bit improved for us to tie on another one. And before you Nu-Tech "pro staffers" go off like a bunch of 4th of July fireworks on this post, that's MY opinion, to which I am entitled, just as you are entitled to sing the Nu-Tech fight song.
  8. I'm a lot like that about jigs. Long as the main color is right, a Bass-X is a Jewel is a Nu-Tech.
  9. Well said, Jeb.
  10. Yes he is, Bill. Very good with a Spook and a jig.
  11. Was trying to decide whether to come up Sunday or go to Grand. I think you guys swung the balance beam to the old ugly lake to the west.
  12. LMAO now that's some funny stuff right thar.
  13. This is actually called a meter rig, originating from the fact that the leader works best at about 1 meter (or 1 yard) long. Saltwater anglers use this a lot to catch speckled trout and redfish in the Gulf. As SOX states, it works well for bass, too. I like to put a small shad-colored feather jig on the leader.
  14. That's just your inner bass angler trying to emerge, PD. Listen to him. Come out of the darkness into the light.
  15. Dave, I haven't seen him in a while but yes, he's fishing a lot of tournaments. See his name in a bunch of stuff. I did see him in a Beaver derby a few weeks back but it was mid-day and didn't have time to stop and chat. He's a good fellow.
  16. LOL, maybe he moved on to another resort or went to that big den tree in the sky. Years ago, my friend Lupe left his Skeeter in a slip overnight (and I was in the slip next to him. We weren't smart enough to know better back then.) Anyhoo, when he came out the next morning, that coon had somehow opened his right-side rod box, extracted a sizable bag of Halloween candy and ate the whole darn thing. Didn't break/mess up a thing other than leaving the empty bag and a bunch of candy wrappers in the boat.
  17. That sounds like a hoot but you better not have shot my pet coon at Schooner. He's been hanging around there for years. Likes to go out on the dock and see what he can pilfer out of people's boats.
  18. Kudos for letting the big girl go. Good luck on the catfish.
  19. 2013 Ranger Z119 with 225 Pro XS (port-a-potty optional)
  20. Good job, QB. Goes to show you that what George Cochran says is true: "There are always some shallow."
  21. I know you're on here quite a bit, Steve, but I would strongly advise against leaving your boat in a slip. Strongly. Did I say strongly?
  22. Great. Some real ingenuity going on there.
  23. Really good report. Glad you guys caught em. Sounds like tons of fun.
  24. I was trying to understand your post about being a booger with the Ranger? Density issues.
  25. You do know that Babler has commercial wormbeds, right?
