I have a hard time seeing the richy-rich folks running those big wake boats caring enough about the price of gas to tote their own in 5-gal jerry cans. They aren't that energetic.
My nightlight plugs in the wall. Got it at Dollar General for a buck. Keeps me from stumping my toe when the alarm goes off at 4 a.m., signaling it's time to go fishing.
Just kidding. Night fishing just isn't my deal these days. Takes me two days to recover from the lost sleep.
Jason, it might be as simple as the fact that it's a lot less hassle for the water patrol to write a nitpicky ticket to a mostly law-abiding fisherman than have to deal with a boatload of drunken partyheads. Just a thought.
Won't be the first time, Jim. Far from it. And yes, Dave. That's an RC. Their quality isn't as consistent as a MB but at 1/3 the cost, I can afford to throw one in the trash and grab a new one. The ones that work right wil catch em just as good as the MB, in my opinion.
Want to see water patrol? Go fish a derby out of Kimberling City. They'll be out there in the predawn darkness trying to snag some felonious, lawless, devil-may-care bass fisherman with a flickering stern light.
Might take a look at Beardsley Branch just across the lake from the state park. Just north of the dam is Jake's Creek, which also holds a lot of brown fish. Good luck out there.
Hope this works out better for them than their last two revolutionary endeavors. The Ficht project of the 90's nearly buried them for good, and the E-tec motors haven't exactly been a raging success either.
When it's all said and done, the fishermen are far outnumbered ... and considerably outspent at the gas stations, hotels, restaurants and bars ... by the party crowd. Money talks and we lose, especially when we're literally on the doorstep of one of the country's most popular resort towns.
Five of those rods are decoys. He has two Neds tied on. And Dave, they're breaking in front of your boat in the top picture. You have Red Fins for times like that. I KNOW you do.
Jason, I'd have to agree that they just don't seem to be targeting shad heavily right now. Even back a few weeks ago during the 100-fish days some were having, nearly all of the bites were coming ON the bottom. And there never was much of a jerk bait bite this spring.
Gotta say, I do hope we don't have the overabundance of shad we had last year. Tough to catch 'em when your lures are competing with that many of the real thing.
The Rock is a demanding mistress -- of your time, especially. Gotta get out there and put in the hours to learn what works sometimes, what works every now and then, and what doesn't work at all. You'll get some guidance here, which you can take to the lake and put to the test.
Someone needs to get the word out they don't have to steal anymore. The government does that part for them. All they have to do is fill out some paperwork and bam, they'll mail our hard-earned money right to 'em.
