Sounds like the letter I wrote to the school board. They may have never acknowledged that I wrote it and they read it but it still changed some things. I think the problem the MDC has with the tournaments is that it does bring in a lot of money and if they start impacting that then not only do they have to hear about it from all the businesses but they also lose some tax revenue. You want to make a difference? Have a fat sack of cash handy because that's the only thing that most Americans understand.

You need some down-riggers. I yelled at a bad net man once. I had a nice fish on in a tournament and he was notorious in our group for knocking fish off with a net. I yelled before he even tried to net the fish. And he netted it just fine. I felt horrible about it. But he was able to easily accept my apology while I split up the 1st place winnings on a day when he didn't boat a fish. My dad knocked off a double digit bass for me with a net. That was interesting.

You ever use a strike indicator while fly fishing for smallmouth? I think it requires a long leader.

Let's just call it 4 and move on. It's not the most productive way usually but a nice smallmouth on a fly rod is a lot of fun.

Those backwaters are the spot. And they love inline spinners. I’ve often wondered if there are pickerel in Pickerel Creek.

Thanks. I had been stalking that eagle. I had a 40mm prime lens on with the zoom tucked safely away in the bottom of a dry bag, so I wasn’t exactly prepared. He was staying far enough out in front of me that there was no shot. And then just as the other guys caught up he took off again but this time he headed upstream right towards us. He was going to glide right over the top of us. Grabbed the camera, framed it up, press the button to focus, just a little closer.......and then these idiot turkeys come flying out of the woods and screwed it all up. It was classic.

You could also title this topic "I suck at fishing". @Chief Grey Bear and I decided to do a little float on the James. We brought another friend along and hoped to put some fish in our hands. NOPE. Besides the nice crappie I swung across the bow before the quick release we saw nada. I don't think I have ever been skunked on the James. Humbling. But man you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Thoroughly enjoyed just kicking back, having some laughs, emptying some cans, and catching up with long time friends that don't spend enough time together. And I took a few pics.

If you survive the weekend you will never forget it. Some of the best memories ever.

LOL. Yeah it's just getting to be good wart/spinnerbait time at LOZ. You aren't catching fish on slow moving deep baits because they aren't going there for dinner right now.

My other issue is that I didn't ask if I could get a new puppy. It was a surprise. Apparently my wife doesn't like surprises that don't contain cash or diamonds.

Our current dachshund has been the only dog for just a few months. We had one other dachshund and a lab/basset that we had to put down over the summer. And she was never really great with either of them. The lab/basset like to give her hell and the other dachshund was to old to ever care. The current one just has some social issues. She doesn't even know how to play. When she eats she has to fill her mouth with food and then carry it off to eat it in private. And she's been with us for 3 years I think. Of course now the puppy follows her and waits for her to drop the food and then runs in and eats it all. Just a big game for her. If I could just get her through this puppy stage all would be well.

I love old movies. The horror ones are the best.

And she just flew in here about 90 mph and crashed into the coffee table. She’s a dork.

She’s has some energy but not anymore than any other pup I’ve had. Actually calmer than my last pup that was a lab. But we rescued a dachshund a few years ago that had been abused by its owner and other dogs and she’s having a hard time adjusting to a puppy. But if I can’t find a good home for her she will have one right here.
