I did buy one last weekend. I went against everyone's recommendations, including my own, and bought a Ascend FS12T for a couple of reasons and I'm glad that I did. I actually almost bought a Pescador Pro 12 but after I compared it to the FS12T it just wasn't worth the extra $230.
Here are the reasons I went with the Ascend.
1. I have really no idea what I wanted in a kayak. I had only fished out of one once so I felt I needed a little more experience to be able to tell what my desires in a quality boat are. After just being out in it a couple of times those are starting to become apparent.
2. I didn't have the time/patience/experience to go out and paddle a bunch of different models and still end up making the wrong decision. I needed to be on the water now.
The other factors were that they have made some enhancements to the 2016 Ascends. Seems like a much better boat than the one that I had paddled before. It might be a bit on the heavy side but I have zero problems carrying it around or getting it on top of my car. It's starting to give me some things to consider when I do decide to go with a more quality boat, and yes that time will come. It's not as slow as I was led to believe. I was even able to keep up with a guy running a trolling motor on his pretty easily. Not that I was trying to but it was interesting that I could.
I like it. It's put me on the water. I've caught some fish. I'm getting it figured out. And after seeing all the new stuff that's coming out of iCast I'm glad I have waited on a more expensive boat. Now I can take my time to make an educated decision but still have a good boat that puts me on the water fishing.
I even stunk it up with a decent first fish.
