  1. I like Ike but I would never buy a calendar with his ugly mug on it. Aren't we past wall calendars these days? I know, I know, my wife still plans her life on one and then freaks out when it isn't handy. I keep one in my pocket on that electronic device that buzzes when she is trying to find me.
  2. While I won't condemn you for doing what you want I will agree 100% with this. I've had some of the best dogs money could buy through the years and the mutt I have now is the best dog I have ever had. Better than the two pure bred labs I've had. She's part lab, part bassett, and you couldn't ask for a better family pet. It isn't even possible. Picked her up at the pet shelter for $50 several years ago. We also recently rescued another Dachshund. We have one that we paid $400 for 14+ years ago and decided to get another to help the kids through her end of life when it comes. The new one cost us $100 and is just as pure as the other. I'm not saying that rescuing a shelter dog is for everyone but there are a lot of good animals out there that need a home and another chance at life.
  3. It depends on the river.
  4. Perfect. Well it would be perfect for me anyways. I love Stockton. Lot's of good white bass fishing in the spring. Lot's of good gill and bass fishing water. Your only issue right now is some active fish. And until it warms up a bit the trout are going to be it. You can go after the others but it's going to be extremely frustrating until we get to spring. Don't let trout worry you. They aren't that smart, at least the ones in the trout parks aren't. They see something that looks like food and they will eat it. The best place to start is learning to cast. That should be priority number one. What weight rod did you get? What flies do you have? Are you going to tie your own?
  5. I'm not taking a picture of that! GROSS!! I do know a guy that has it on video though.
  6. Maybe for your birthday.
  7. Wow this is a good time. I just imagine one of you being on the swings and the other on the jungle gym while having this conversation. Very fitting.
  8. Some people like to fish alone and some people like to fish with other people. I don't think I have ever fished with anyone that matched my style of fishing. Hell for as long as I fished with my dad most people would have assumed that we liked to fish the same way but that wasn't even close to the truth. Sometimes you gotta give a little if you want to be out there with somebody. I know some of you would rather not do that, I've been there and been like that so I understand. But now days I'd rather be out there with someone enjoying it together. Thankfully I lost the desire to perfect this craft, it's been a lot more fun since I achieved that.
  9. Just saw a post on FB from Tim. Not looking to shabby.
  10. I was just wondering the same thing. Might take my girls down if it's not too bad.
  11. Thank You!! I can't stand stupid color names.
  12. Mic makes some good points but I would find somebody to take you fly fishing. You don't have to worry about species right now, trout are going to be the easiest this time of year. The fly parks offer a lot of easy fishing right now if the fish haven't all washed away. You can hang out at the flyshop and watch youtube videos all you want but nothing compares to being on the water with somebody that knows what they are doing. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would give a rookie a few pointers on the stream. Where are you located?
  13. That's just normal media right there. They aren't going to talk about it unless they can sensationalize the crap out of it and blow it way out of proportion.
  14. If only they were this serious about all poaching. Who is this stupid?
  15. Wow, that's crazy.
  16. That is hilarious.
  17. I did click on the link. But smallmouth can't be an invasive species on a lake that was created after they were already in the system. In the case of Smallmouth vs. Table Rock the fish were there before the lake. True story.
  18. Not sure I buy that but I do know that the smallmouth were there before the lake was.
  19. Most of my tip break offs occurred when trying to put it back in the rod box and not getting the tip inside. Rods have a nice built in feature that causes them to stand up like a flag pole when you do that alerting you of your mistake.

  21. A cheap kayak in no way compares to fishing out of a canoe. Canoes are just better for some of us.
  22. Please don't come back.
