  1. I know a stream that has a bigger density of smallmouth than I have ever seen anywhere else. I do not mention it's name because it would not be a place that you would enjoy floating. I don't mention the name of anyplace else because I do not think that it matters. Get below I44 and there are plenty of options. The biggest thing about quantity over quality are the baits you are using. If you want your friends to catch a lot of fish and have a good time they should be using a rooster tail or a teeny craw. Those will put up the numbers and might surprise you with a decent fish.
  2. He's been planning this for a long time.
  3. I need to get a kayak.
  4. Just tell me when they are ready to pick.
  5. I've used them in the salt and they work wonderfully.
  6. That's just crazy. But at least you have a ride.
  7. Wooly Buggers - white, black, olive, brown, yellow Clousers - tan/white, chartreuse/white, olive/white Poppers - black, white, yellow (preferably a gurgler) That will get you started. Where to fish? Hmmmmmm....everywhere. Yeah it's a little more complicated than that, but it's not hard. Fish what looks good to you. pools, big rocks, a weedline with moving water in front at the right depth. The head of a big pool, the tail of a big pool. Root wads, bridge pilings. Put on a wooly, get out there and cast to some good looking spots and you'll get it figured out. Keep your flies on the small side at this point so you keep your catch rate up for awhile, keep your interest.
  8. Any of them. The James is perfect.
  9. I would think yes. Actually if they haven't taken the hint and are already moving as they see you coming, then I would definitely ask or tell them to move on. That's what they were made for.
  10. 3 of us too but all like to fish. But we've been known to pull up a chair under a shade tree for lunch and be there 4 hours later. I have no desire to paddle too hard.
  11. Pull up fast with your rod hand and down fast with your line hand. Don't be a sissy about it, they have tough mouths. If that doesn't work then get a stiffer rod. Or maybe you weren't giving them enough time on the popper. Setting it too quickly can be just as bad.
  12. Not sure, never been below 133. You must be an eager floater. We are going for 3 days and are looking at 17 miles like it's a little too much. We are slow and like it that way.
  13. Hills to 7 would be 22-23 maybe. I pretty sure they would do that shuttle for you.
  14. That's what makes that area so desirable for me. I've done a few trips from Hazelgreen at 44 to 133 and rarely see any people. The hwy noise at night is a bit odd. Not really distracting or obnoxious, just weird to hear it off in the distance. Gasconade Hills might still shuttle to 133 but that access sucks. So we are probably looking at a self shuttle from 44 to 7. I hate self shuttles. I just wanna drop my stuff in and float.
  15. I love them with the hot mustard sauce. Maybe we should make some drum sushi to go with them.
  16. Egg roll!
  17. I've had the same luck. I'm trying to take out there in a couple of weeks and was hoping to use them for a shuttle. I'll keep you posted if I find anything.
  18. I can't believe that there are still people upset by the ned rig.
  19. That's part of the fun!
  20. No. But doesn't this mean baseball is almost over? I really need some football. American football.
  21. They are both just west of the Finley River bridge on Hwy 14 in Ozark. The Chinese are on the north and cars on the south. Both will require you carrying your kayak.
  22. Cool. It's a good time for sure.
