  1. That is funny. You don't know how many times I have felt that way about my own ignorance. Good luck with the gar, they are a lot of fun.
  2. I say do it. Yeah there may be some leftover idiots but the majority of them will be back in school with other things on their mind. Party season will be over by then.
  3. There has to be more education on this to the non-fishing crowd or your just wasting your time. The fisherman that give a darn are already aware of the potential hazards and don't want it to happen. But the real problem is the casual boater. They have no idea about things like this. They are not conservation minded people. They go to the lake to drive around and enjoy the water, some enjoy it a little too much but that's a whole different problem. So what's in for the casual boater and how do we educate them? The real problem is the people who just don't care. They have been to LOZ and haven't seen a problem. It's these ignorant people that will bring them to Stockton. But don't worry it won't be me. My boat doesn't get wet often enough to keep something living in it. And it's usually at Stockton when it does!!
  4. Phil, How do they verify this. It's not hard to achieve this but how do you prove it to them?
  5. Looks like you had a great time. Good looking fish. Thanks for sharing.
  6. That's exactly what it looks like.
  7. Well at least you caught a good one at the end. Sounds like a pretty good trip except for the rain. I have caught one walleye below Y bridge but that's the only one I have seen. Might have to start looking around more. The catfish in the river are everywhere. I have seen schools with probably 30 fish in them. Nothing big probably around two pounds. Nice report.
  8. The craws and shakey heads will work. But don't forget the topwaters and buzzbaits. Those will produce some really great takes at times. And I always have a spinnerbait tied on to at least one rod. The water will slow as you get closer to Galena, but there is fishy water all along the way. Looks like the river spiked up a couple of days ago but is almost back to normal. Didn't come up much but the increased flow should have the fish turned on. Good luck and watch out for the idiots.
  9. I second James River Outfitters. They are great people that will really take care of you.
  10. Hey that's not fair. Hope you have a great trip.
  11. I have fly fished both for smallmouth. I fish the James the most, since it's only a short drive away, so that's where I've had the best luck. But if I were doing a overnight float it would be on the Eleven Point. Such a beautiful place. The best section for smallmouth is from the Hwy 160 bridge on down.
  12. We floated a few weeks ago from Round Spring to Two Rivers and were surprised by the low amount of people. I saw more canoes during a five mile float on the James than we saw all weekend on the Current. And everyone was well behaved. Maybe it was just a weird weekend and we lucked out. That Park Ranger running up and down the river checking everybody out might have had something to do with the low numbers.
  13. Yeah I think I heard some language on one that may not make it to TV . So how did the attempt at the line class records turn out? Felt really bad for Jeff, he had a bad day.
  14. Dano, There are some sample videos here. G2 Fishing Frenzy However the videos don't seem to work with Mozilla. Switched to IE and everything ran fine. I have been watching a little of the NWT Canada sample. I like it so far. Clay, you can really tell that you struggle not to be a product pusher. I also don't have DirectTV, so these are the only videos that I can judge you off of. But I have watched the first half of the Canada trip and like it so far.
  15. Al said it well as usual. But that last sentence is it. So much of what's out there on TV AND in print shows destinations that most of us will never be able to travel to. It will be interesting to see what you come up with, I know you will do a great job.
  16. You guys need to be very careful with the lightning. I have also had the buzzing rods and earlier this year on Stockton I was even shocked by my rod. There were clouds in the distance but no signs of lightning. My dad was with me and felt the same thing. It was a pretty frightening experience for us. In the late 1985 my uncle was killed by lightning while fishing on lake Texoma. He was aware of the approaching storm and decided to call it a day. While loading everything into his truck he was struck and killed instantly by lightning. It was a very sad time for our family. I would hate to hear about this happening to one of you.
  17. Good looking canoe and a nice website. Does each canoe come with one of those funny little cars? Nice noodles by the way.
  18. I am one of those smallmouth guys. I agree we need more people talking about smallie fishing but it has picked up a lot this year.
  19. I have heard that. That makes it even better to me. Well I didn't know that. Guess I will have to check that out soon.
  20. Well the price is definitely right. I bought an Echo a couple of years ago and use it more than anything. Yeah bluegill can be insane on it, but just wait until you get a hold of a 15" smallie on one.
  21. Uh...........I think that you are the only one that forgot to bring a rod. And that was really stupid seeing how you own a fly shop and all. I can just see you out there with the antenna you stole off my car using it for a rod and totally kicking my butt at fishing. Maybe you could just make you own line there too MacGyver!!
  22. Well you know my recent trip wasn't all that spectacular. The best baits for us were a watermelon finesse worm and a topwater. Best luck with the worm on a shakey head. Throw a inline spinner up in some of the slack water around the weeds and you might get a pickerel. Good luck on your trip. It's a beautiful area.
  23. I will say this about the shuttle fees on the Current. They are way higher there than anywhere else I have been. The most I have paid is $25 on the Buffalo to shuttle my car one way. And it was a much farther shuttle. As far as all their other expenses, that doesn't work for the $45 shuttle we were offered. We were leaving one vehicle at their normal put in. While two of us were waiting for the other two to run the shuttle we saw their shuttle drop off at least four loads of people. Everytime there were two guys from the outfitter. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the price if that's what they want to charge then fine. If it would have been up to me we would have paid it and went on. But others in my party were not so eager. What I thought was really odd is that when we refused the shuttle we asked how much it would be to park a vehicle overnight at their place. The answer: Oh you can park here for free. Don't have to spend a dime. Is it illegal for them to charge for parking? Just thought it was odd that the shuttle was more than expected but parking was free. No matter how we felt about the shuttle fee it is still one of the best outfitters that we have ever dealt with. And I would highly recommend them to anyone. Two Rivers. Great people.
  24. Sounds like a challenge. Seriously why do some people just have the need to be jerks. You were right, he was wrong. But you probably did the best thing by leaving.
