Fans don’t need sympathy. It’s just a game.
  2. The tail out thing is just fun. It’s not the best way to get a fish in hand but it is the best way to get huge explosive strikes. Dead drifting one works but it isn’t very exciting. I even caught a 13 inch crappie dead drifting one in a tiny creek.
  3. I’m not speaking in general but skating one across a tail out for smallmouth will result in multiple misses. It’s just the nature of it. Using one as a popper or dead drifting it you won’t have any issues.
  4. Most of mine that I fish look like the far left. The ones with long legs give you something a little different when dead drifting. The ones with rabbit get a little water logged and are good for swimming or blooping along like a frog. But one of those white ones skated on a 5 wt is my favorite for smallmouth. It doesn’t produce huge fish, it doesn’t provide great hookups, but it does provide big fun.
  5. Gurglers are perfect for smallmouth. They pop, they swim, they skate, but some of the best takes are on a dead drift with the tiniest of wiggles occasionally.
  6. I saw a pile of shells a few weeks ago. I was very surprised. I hadn't seen a pile like that since I was a kid.
  7. I usually put a few pounds in the bottom of the cooler. Cover that with a towel and a few inches of regular ice. If you take ice cream it’s best to cover it completely in ice. One year we took concretes from Andy’s Frozen Custard. We were worried it would melt so we put dry ice on top of it too. It was hard as a rock two days later.
  8. I use dry ice. It's simple, doesn't take up much room, everything stays cold. My dad and I always used jugs in the bass boat. It works too but takes up a lot of space in the main cooler on the river.
  9. Lazy has nothing to do with it. It's not hard to carry everything you need in a canoe. Great dinners can be pre-prepared. But there is no reason to eat rations on a trip. I can see it if your hiking, but not floating. If your boat won't hold all that then you need a bigger boat. LOL
  10. To keep the beer and steaks cold. I can keep stuff in my cooler cold for at least 5 days. You shouldn’t need a ton of places along the way.
  11. I could have learned everything that I learned in college on my own. But it would have taken a lot more time and probably several hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment to learn on.
  12. Name: Charli Suzi AKA: Meathead, Shaniqua, Chocolate Thunda Theme song: Thunderstruck, AC/DC Breed: Dipshitador
  13. I would do it and i probably will do it. When I was in school I met a lot of older people that took classes just to learn something new. Kind of like taking a class on photography or fly tying, but they are taking a class on physics or learning a programming language.
  14. He's still out there. Not sure why he left here but he posts fish on FB.
  15. I was talking to one of my store managers this morning. He was so upset when Buffalo scored the last touchdown with 13 seconds left he turned off the TV and went to bed. He didn't know until he was driving to work this morning.
  16. @Harps has a nice old GTO that he should pop on and talk about.
  17. I can have a fly tied on before you ever find your tool.
  18. Shultz Outfitters had a special run of big smallmouth flies the other day on Instagram. Twenty bucks a piece. They didn't last long. They do this all the time and they go quick.
  19. This Redington Behemoth. Very light and a great price.
  20. We had a lot of Pontiacs before GM lost their mind.
  21. I would be but I have a hard time scheduling anything around work and kid activities.
  22. I used to have a relationship like that with a guy at Mayse in Aurora. No BS. So I know it’s possible for all of them.
  23. I think the auto buying process at a dealership is stupid. I hate their games. I hate their ignorance. Especially when they start telling me what it will take to fix any imperfections in the finish or try to sell me exterior finish coatings. No bigger waste of money than that. When the youngest needed a car she knew exactly what she wanted. We looked all over and test drove several. We knew the one she wanted. So on a Saturday morning we head to the dealership, with cash, to get her car. The salesman was awesome and I told him what I would pay. And pointed out all the imperfections to make my offer reasonable. His sales manager wouldn’t budge. He told me in front of his salesman, and my wife and daughter, that he knew what he had and he wasn’t budging. I told him that I knew that the cars he had, there were 3 like she wanted, all had been there longer than 90 days. I whipped out a stack of hundreds equaling the 13,000 I was prepared to pay. He would come below 13,500 and I grabbed my cash and walked. It wasn’t about 500 dollars, it was his attitude. The salesman followed us all the way to the car. Then the General Manager showed up. And I told him exactly how he lost that sale and who’s fault it was. A few hours later this douchebag sales manager calls and tells, not asks, is to come back and see if we can work out a deal. Not that he will accept my offer. But we’ll work out a deal. Hilariously I had just handed that cash to another salesman at a different dealership. I loved being able to tell him that. I also loved seeing that car sit on their lot another 60 days before it disappeared. Can’t we just buy a car without playing childish games?
  24. Ditto
  25. I'm going to sit on my couch with my dog and hope it turns out well. While answering the same dumb football questions my wife has been asking me since 1986. Next weekend will suck. I'll be in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere counting inventory all weekend. If the Chiefs make it to the AFC Championship I won't even be able to watch it.
