Yeah it’s been bad everywhere this year.

Lately? Don't you mean always? I'm sure it's worse now. All those people I had to deal with in the 90's probably spawned and made it a much worse.

I didn't mean it like it was something bad. Took me a long time to find the creeks and rivers too. Have it enjoyed it all.

I "rode" through there standing up in a drift boat. I asked Jeff Trigg if I could stand up going through there. Jeff said, "I don't give a .....". Well never mind what he said, he's always mean to me. Beautiful place. Enjoy it.

All the ponds we fished when growing up in south Oklahoma had both bass and crappie. There were occasional ponds that were overrun by juvenile fish of both species but that's an easy fix. Takes a little time, but you can correct it. Most of the ponds would produce monsters from both species.

Well there went all your free time.

I rarely watch any anymore. They all started to look and sound the same, after that I gave up. Just boring. Like I said, once it became about who wants to spend the most money to make a film it became less about who actually has the talent to create something good.

Maybe, but I don't see much trash on Facebook. But let's be honest, that's how most fishing/hunting shows have always done it. And that's fine if you have really good content. But most of these tools spend so much energy and time making it perfect that all the videos end up being the same. At least when they make it on the Fly Fishing Film tour it's not a bunch of ramblings about what 47 bearing reel they used with the perfect rod, lure, line, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.....................

Yep. Plus you don't see all the days that sucked, all the time that was lost, all the problems, all the money spent. You just see all the goodness that they could cram into a 15 minute video.

I got tired of fishing product gatherings about 1989. I don't really care to see the latest and greatest anymore. My casting sucks. Period. No one is going to make me any better because I'm as good as I ever care to be. Call it lazy but I'm calling it having a good time on the water and not worrying about the little stuff. Films? I love them. But they all seem to be doing the same thing. Used to be a guy made a movie good enough to get in one of these deals all on their own. Now, like most things, it more about how much money you have to spend on your little film. Yeah the locations they fish and film are amazing. But it's takes more than that and some edgy music to make a great film. But it would have all been better than the brake job I did on Saturday morning!!

Van Halen in OKC Metallica in KC U2 in old Busch Stadium for Zoo TV tour. The Black Crowes in Springfield. The Doobie Brothers Skid Row (twice in one week) Warrant Pantera Dio Marilyn Manson Megadeath POD Lit Alien Ant Farm Stone Temple Pilots Alice in Chains (They sucked) The Allman Brothers Band. Worst band I have ever seen live. Just a complete boring show. And that even includes all the country bands that I've seen and don't care to list. The Jonas Brothers show was better than the Allman Brothers. There's a bunch more. I need to make a complete list sometime. And then when you get to regional bands the list is massive. Still some great music and shows though.

Well that wasn't a good thought to put in my head. One of my favorite things to do is skate a gurgler for smallmouth. Now I have to go deal with this. That's a nice fish.

I didn't know #3 but it reminded me of Groundhog Day. I always loved that movie. There's a new time loop movie on Hulu called Palm Springs that is pretty good.

No I haven't let my kids ride on a tailgate because my kids don't go very often and I don't have a tailgate. We have had the conversation before about drinking in the parks. I never knew before we discussed it that it was prohibited. It always seemed fine at the boat ramp on the lake and I didn't view that as being any different than the park. And the times that somebody could have corrected my actions they chose not to for whatever reason. You would have to ask them why. But maybe it was because I didn't act like a dick when they approached me.

I don't remember how many times I have been sitting on a picnic table, drinking a beer, and talking to an agent at Roaring River. Never have they said anything about the beer. Come to think of it I don't think I have ever even had to show them my license. I think in most cases you get what you ask for.

I'm very picky about my bass leaders. I also use the same leaders in salt water but bump up the pound test. Not for turning a fly over, just too keep those bastards from cutting it so easily. "Turning over" most bass flies is a joke. I carry two spools of leader material with me at all times. One is a 330ft roll of 8lb test and the other is 10lb test. I pull off what ever length I think I need at the time and put a perfection loop in one end and attach that to the fly line. On the other end I tie that to the fly. I know it's difficult to grasp but it's worth the extra effort. Keep it simple stupid. You can have a few already to go in your shirt pocket. You get a kink or a knot or get it all wrapped up in a tree? No need to be all worried about your concoction. Just cut that off and stuff it your pants pocket and pull out a new one. Presto! Everything is great again.

Has anyone ever really stolen a fly pattern? I like those heads though. Used to catch a bunch of fish on a diver using those heads.

I wasn’t a fan either until Trigg changed my mind. They have worked pretty good since then.
