  2. My dad and I used to have this conversation a lot. When you are on the bank you try to cast out as far as you can but when you are in a boat then you cast to the bank.
  3. I've had pretty good luck paddling up from accesses. People in boats try to get as far away as possible and people stuck on the bank can only hit it so hard and usually do a poor job at it. Nice fish.
  4. I think it was @Mitch that saw largemouth bass for sale in an Asian market in St. Louis a year or two ago.
  5. All I know is that for several years there was a large family of otters that lived on the James river down towards Galena. I had the opportunity to watch them fairly closely for those years because it was also my favorite place to fish on the James. In that time the numbers of fish caught never dropped. The quality of fish did not suffer either. The only thing that destroyed that section of river was flooding.
  6. A farm pond is not a large reservoir.
  7. I'm surprised that fish didn't go extinct before man came along to control the otter population.
  8. I agree with this. I would live to bowfish but have a real hang up on this part of it.
  9. Looks like somebody needs to Google a math lesson.
  10. I don't hunt anymore but if I did it would be with a bow. Good luck to you this year.
  11. You're asking him to do research and post the truth? That isn't going to happen. All he has done since he showed back up is continue to post bull that nobody cares to read. Classic internet troll.
  12. My dad had a friend that raised catfish in Oklahoma. I was allowed to fish in the cages and take a few each time we were there. He had a hatchery in a barn and then moved them to the cages in the middle of a big pond. We would spend the day bass fishing and then hit the cages for a bit before we went home.
  13. Then make sure you only eat fish you catch.
  14. Geez guys he wasn't trying to start another catch and release debate. But that's the way society operates now I guess.
  15. Several Tailwaters are close. Below Beaver, Taney which is below Table Rock, and the White below Bull Shoals. Couple of trout parks, Roaring River and Bennett Springs. Crane Creek is a small stream with some beautiful wild bows. The Niangua is up by Bennett Springs but has a lot of good fishing in it. And my favorite, North Fork of the White is southeast. Doesn't have the best wading opportunities but it's a beautiful place with some nice fish. And like has been mentioned, fly fishing for the warm water species is a ton of fun. You can go just about anywhere around here and get into some Smallmouth on the fly rod.
  16. Brett just posted on FB that they tried hard to revive the fish but it didn't make it.
  17. He should have held it out further.
  18. Do you want to go North, South, East or West?
  19. I have some very good friends that have done this with their oldest daughter. My middle and their oldest have been friends since kindergarten. They have pushed her to always be the best. She was always in the all the honors classes, wasn't allowed to just blow her time like the other kids, took the ACT 6 times. It all worked out in the end though I guess. She has a full ride on academics. Never seen an unhappier kid though that really has no idea where she's going or what she's doing. That's what happens when all decisions are made and you never get the chance to struggle a bit. I don't think that family is going to see the success that they are expecting. Not saying this is what is going to happen to your kid Mitch but you have to be careful. This isn't the only kid that I have watched this happen to.
  20. I would as long as we can take down those cold water causing dams.
  21. There are a lot of different phone apps available for resizing images. Image Resizer is one that seems to work pretty well but there are others available. Most of which are free to use.
  22. They do it here too. Maybe not as much since I've never been there but I have had decent luck doing it here.
