  1. I'd be all over that if I wasn't going to be out of town. Oh, and if I owned a yak.
  2. Great pics. Looks like a good time.
  3. Thanks guys. I will admit that mine are post processed quite a bit. Like I said I was really trying to see what the capabilities would be of the camera and also what I could do with some new software. I recently installed the Nik Collection from Google. It's a collection of imaging tools that Google owns and is offering it for free right now. These are intended as Photoshop plugins but can be used as a standalone program as well. I'm currently running them as standalone. It definately doesn't replace a true editing program, but you can get some pretty good effects quickly after you've done basic editing. https://www.google.com/nikcollection/
  4. Exactly. I was really wanting one back in January and February while I was doing a bunch of wade fishing. I tried to make it work with a GoPro and/or phone but just wasn't satisfied. Gonna give mine a good workout on the beach in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the fish will cooperate.
  5. Last week I purchased an Olympus TG-870. While I love the control I have with a DSLR I'm getting really tired of dragging it out of it's protected environment to take a couple of quick pics of some fish or scenery along the river. Plus on wading trips it's either not an option or a huge burden. So I dropped the $229 and took it out to see what it would do. For another hundred you can get the TG-4 which gives you manual control and RAW imaging. I was on the fence on that one for a long time but decided both were unnecessary. The 870 is 16 mp, 1080p video, waterproof to 50 ft., drop proof, crush proof. Has a flip up screen which has already shown to be very handy. And it has WiFi which is awesome. The wifi allows you to connect it to your smartphone and control the camera through an app. Take pictures, video, download images, all from your phone. It's a nice feature. It's a great little camera so far. I know that a lot of people are always looking for a good fishing camera and I think this is about the best there is for that kind of money. I have friends that have older versions of both the TG-870 and TG-4 and have been using them for a long time with no issues. Here's a stock photo of the camera and a link to it's website. http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/digitalcameras/tough/tg-870.html Here are a few pictures I took on Friday with this camera. .

    What's Cooking?

Kingsford for just regular grilling but if I want it super hot or a good long slow burn I use lump. One of the best things about lump is you can kill the airflow and it will go out and you can reuse it. Briquettes don't do that too well. Did a little pork on the Weber for a bachelor party.
  7. The lineups have been more attractive in the past. I caught some of Isabell on the telly and he does a good job but doesn't do it for me either. I like the Alabama Shakes. They seem talented. I like watching them play. I'm just not that into their music. Saw some Panic at the Disco too and liked it but I'm glad I wasn't down there where those big pink flamingos were floating around. I would like to see Kravitz and Leon Bridges would have been good. Maybe one of these days.
  8. How was that?? I'm pretty jealous, been wanting to go for years but it always falls horribly with kids in school. I however spend a fair amount of time at the Hangout for a week every summer.
  9. I have had a couple of those over the years and have ended up just giving them away. They are not bad but I'd like something with a little more power.
  10. I have wanted a short rod for a long time. I'd love to have a 6 ft. 5 or 6 wt. to cast gurglers for bass. One of these days.
  11. A bad weekend will just prolong the pain. They will wait until next weekend or the weekend after. Better to have a great weekend for them and let most get it out of their system.
  12. The Alabama Rig topwater.
  13. Nothing special. I'll still be carrying the same old/tired DSLR that I've been carrying for several years. But now I will have an Olympus TG-870 to carry in my fly pack.
  14. Next time you guys head to the cable I'm going to be hiding in the boat.
  15. I usually give people a second chance. Especially if it's all new to them. The funny part is that the old owners weren't much better. Sometimes you would end up waiting around forever to get shuttled. And it was never at a time that they seemed busy. A few years ago me and a couple of buddies waited about an hour to be shuttled and we were the only ones there. We grabbed our chairs and a cooler and found us a shade tree and just enjoyed being on a trip. Hopefully they get it together. I'm sure I will find out later this summer.
  16. I've been living your life for a long time and I don't mind it at all. Hell mine isn't even going to fix me a sammich without screwing it up. It doesn't matter what I do she can't understand the expense of anything. She's a thrifty lady except when it comes to vehicles and anything our 3 daughters want. And yes better paying jobs can make a difference but it hasn't with mine. Just wait until the FedEx guy drops off my package from the camera store today. She is going to be so excited I bet she calls me at work! Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness.
  17. They do take good pictures. The only thing I don't like about them is the wide angle view. Can't zoom in on anything unless you do the Fred Flintstone zoom. There are some good waterproof point and shoots on the market that take some great pictures. You still have the video capabilities of the GoPro with better options on taking photos. I just sold my GoPro last Friday and am currently waiting the arrival of a new waterproof Olympus. But I'll still carry the DSLR too.
  18. I take mine everywhere. As long as you have a good dry bag or Pelican case you can keep it protected. I keep mine wrapped in a towel inside a dry bag most of the time. It spends a fair amount just laying on my cooler with a towel thrown over it though. Maybe not the best thing for it but I bought it to take pictures and I float where I want to take pictures so.....
  19. Nice pictures. I like that glowing tent shot a lot.
  20. NFOW. Beautiful place. Don't tell anybody else though.
  21. Not putting down the trout parks at all but there are other options in Missouri for a more natural setting to catch trout. I'm not much on crowds so I tend to stay away.
  22. Anytime money is involved some creep will figure out a way to cheat.
  23. Are you saving the data for historical use? The visibility wouldn't mean much but it would be interesting to see the temp data over a period of time. It would take time to build that data into useful information over the next several years but would be better and better each year. Lots of thoughts on that.
  24. I'm not talking about fairy dust. I'm just saying that you, scratch that, I can cook a walleye, bass, crappie and catfish the same exact way and you can't tell the difference. I've done it before and I can do it again.
