Better be some root beer in that mug.

Don't worry about it. If a fly shop doesn't turn into a shiitshow is it even a fly swap?
-
That would make a nice float trip skillet!!

Sounds like you have some great trips being planned. But for the love of dog please leave those freeze dried meals at home!

I actually did fish a lot of tournaments. It was a blast. But the late 80’s, early 90’s, was a different time.

Nope.

It might as well be. Even if the rest of us was triple we still don’t bring in the cash. Just another reflection of our society.

It’s all about the benjamins. Nobody gives a big F about conservation until you fry up their swimming profit. It will never go away.

People with cameras are always in the way! Nice report. -
I’ve got an easier method. Let your wife keep the credit rating bottomed out and nobody will bother you. J/K Mine is the reason my credit is good! But I don’t hide on the internet. Used to when I ventured into the dark web, but even there, common sense usually wins. If they really want to know, they will know.

You stop that BS talk. Trying to catch some whites over here next week.

I’m partial to apple fritters.

Oh I know. Heck I think I have drank a few of his a time or two. But I have to give him crap about something.

You also think MGD is good beer.

We did for years and years when there was a good one in town. The last owners were a bunch of twats that nobody wanted to buy from.

No chicken. Pork chops, breakfast sausage patties, steak.

I came out of music photography retirement last Saturday night to go see some friends play in a big show. As I usually do, I started listening to the bands that I didn't know. It's much easier to photograph something if you have some understanding of what they are going to do and decide where you need to be for certain songs. However there were 5 bands playing that night so that meant I needed to listen to 4 of them heavily to figure it all out. Too much, lost interest, one band I never listened to anything. That band was The Descrepancies out of St. Louis. They were the last band to play that night. It was late, I was tired, so I was just sitting at our table while they were getting setup. I had around 1,700 shots at that point and thought maybe I would just sit this one out. Just as they were getting ready to begin I noticed a spot up front that I could squeeze my fatass into. I had a couple of short ladies in front of me so I had a good view front and center. I don't know what I expected from this band but it sure wasn't what they delivered. Definately an experience. Here's a little taste of what they sound like and some shots I got. -
My son in law was so excited to see this since he grew up in Joplin. But one of the guys from the documentary was his neighborhood bully. LOL! Totally ruined it for him.

I’ve seen pics from Bennett and Roaring River. RR is still fishsable. Bennett looks rough.

I still don’t know how they hook up but I have to tell you a story. Saturday morning 4 of us are floating down the river and I have one of those tied on. We came to where some rail road tracks ran along the river and all kinds of fish were stacked along that riprap bank. I was out front not really fishing. I got to the end of that and decided to wait there for the others to fish that area. I saw some fish moving around so I flipped that fly out there. It moved really well and I started having fun jacking with the gills that were dragging it around by its tail. So I fire it up under a tree and give it a few quick strips and see this dark figure follow it out. Uh oh! I would move it a little and that fish stayed right with it. Little breeze hit and rippled the water just for half a second. Wait, where’s my fly? And that’s when time slowed down. I all of a sudden got a clear view of this fish, 15-16 inches, no monster but a decent fish. And just as I realized I needed to set the hook, I saw the gills flare and watched that ball of rabbit fur come shooting out of her mouth. By then my arm caught up with my brain and that fly shot out of there at around Mach 5. And that fish just slowly swam back to that tree. It would have been cool to catch but it was equally cool seeing that fly come shooting out of its mouth like that.

I’m going to bust this one off in the morning. Probably on a big rock that I will claim was a 5 lb smallmouth.
-
That’s why I have a stash of them. Tried them when they first came out and wasn’t a huge fan. But like those hooks, it’s time to get used up.
